I think what makes this place great is really the service. The guy at the counter, I don’t know if he’s an owner, but he takes a pride in the company like he owns it. He’s so friendly it makes you want to come back. But, service isn’t the only thing, the food is great. Yeah, it’s just a hot dog, and yeah the stuff they put on it isn’t that exotic, but the combos are really great together. I’ve had a few different varieties, they’ve all been great. My kids love it. It’s a great cheap meal for the whole family. Add to the fact that they have Fireman Derek’s pies, and boom that’s why they’re awesome.

Place has been next to my house for 3 years and I decided to try it today and it was well worth it. I had the dolphin hotdog which tasted delicious and also a Oreo shake that was great. Pleasant service by victor and staff. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who enjoys good food

I love that the hot dogs at Sweet Dogs are named after local universities and teams. Never ever would I thought of having a hot dog with sweet plantains, guava barbecue sauce and a fried egg on it. You would think that these flavors would collide with each other but they all blended in together perfectly, it really was a sweet dog. It is just really difficult trying to fit the whole dog in your mouth since all of the toppings bulk it up but the best thing to do is cut it in half and attack it sideways. The homemade macaroni and cheese was really good and creamy, even better since I had it on a chilly night. The staff is very welcoming once you walk in, explaining all of your options if it is your first time. My fiancée ordered his on a sausage instead of a dog and it was HUGE. They do have a variety of dessert options available but after having such a loaded dog and sausage we really did not have any room. I did see them make a milkshake for another customer while we were waiting and it looked delicciouuss. They also carry some of Fireman Derek’s pies, it’s a yes from me!

I had both the Dolphin and the U. Both were incredible and unique flavors. Let me start by saying that the owner of this joint really impressed me with his hospitality and care for his customers. I came in here on two occasions and both times the owner and the employees were genuinely happy and friendly. The owner personally filled up my water cup 3x without me even asking. What a good guy. Thanks, man. I wish we could grab a beer sometime, haha. The environment seems very convivial and family-oriented. All Sweet Dogs are clearly 100% Beef, delicious and massive hot dogs(the quality borders on a fine sausage, even.) Seriously, I don’t usually like the taste of hot dogs, but these are really good and remind me of high quality Jewish NYC dogs. The Dolphin came with Grilled Ham, Smoked, Bacon, Melted Mozzarella Cheese, Pineapple, Home Sauce, and Papitas. Mmmm. So good. With that many flavors, I can’t really describe it other than to say you’ve got to try it. We went back to get the U: Smoked Bacon, Sauteed Onions, Sauerkraut, Chopped Tomato, Chip Salsa, Corn Chips. This one I liked even better than the first. I think the Sauerkraut & Salsa really balanced out the fattier elements of the dog in a way that the Dolphin, while very excellent, did not. This joint is great. Come in for a dog, you will not be disappointed.

I am not entirely sure what the big deal is with this place… So they take a Nathan’s Hot Dog, add canned ingredients and VOILA! You have a mash up of ingredients that really turned off my appetite. Sure some people here in Miami go for that schlock, but you know what they say about taste in this town. How this place ended up as the number one restaurant(according to Unilocal) beats the daylights out of me. I can think of ten other places with better dogs and six of them are food trucks. My suggestion? Go somewhere else. You’ll have a better experience and your mouth will thank you. This is probably the simplest and shortest review I’ve written all year.

This may be just a hot dog place, but it deserves the five stars! Woke up today with a sweet dogs craving so my bf and I decided to head on over. As always, the customer service was amazing! The owner is very passionate about his business and it shows in his enthusiasm and warmth. I decided to go with the Marlins hot dog and my bf chose the Dolphins one. Some helpful tips: — you can choose a traditional Nathan’s hotdog or a polish sausage. — if it’s your first time there, make sure to say it so you can be walked through the menu. — it’s always better to choose an already crafted hotdog rather than building your own… That may cost you a lot more as each topping averages a $ 1. — the Oreo milkshake is delicious — there are a variety of side items to choose from(the seasoned fries hit the spot for me) The cherry on top for my Marlins hotdog was the crushed plantains on top, and the banana peppers did the trick in bringing out a different flavor for your taste buds. If you’re worried that you might be overwhelmed by the variety of toppings on each option… Don’t be! Give it a try and remember, you can always opt out of a topping you don’t like(such as jalapeños in my case).

I have to give this place 5 stars not for the food because to be completely honest I’ve like hotdogs better some place else but for the attention of the staff. We were quickly greeted and asked what we liked. The gentleman went over the entire menu with us and finally figured out what we wanted. The food was made to order and it has an abundance of ingredients. They were really nice and I must say that the sausage was really juicy and cooked just right. The bread of the hotdog was warm, fluffy, and warm which made it perfect. I had the Miami Marlin with a side of Mac and cheese. I didn’t particular like the egg with the plantains on a hotdog but next time I go I’m going to try a simpler hotdog. But that’s just my taste I encourage you to try it out for yourself. They have excellent service and an extensive menu to choose from.

Top 50 Places to eat in Miami? I haven’t eaten at 50 places in Miami, but dayamn, if I did, this would be one of them. Their main hot dogs, after their namesake Sweetdog, are named after all the«Home» teams, naturally. So you have the Heat, the Dolphins, FIU, University of Miami Hurricanes, the Miami vice, and the Florida Panthers. There are spicy options and some not spicy… all depends on what you want. You can of course custom your own dog tooZ I went for the Sweetdog and the homemade coleslaw. By cousin had the dolphin and the Mac n cheese. Not one of our items disappointed in the least. All pretty big dogs; had to use a knife and fork so I wouldn’t get totally dirty. Normally ketchup is my mainstay condiment for any hotdog, but I think the sweet dog was the first one I’ve ever had that didn’t need it. Smoked bacon, grilled onions, sweet peppers, and la Choy noodles. The la Choy crispy noodles were an excellent texture topping to the dog and I loved every bite. The Cole slaw was amazing. My cuz loved his hot dog and loved the Mac n cheese… I couldn’t attest to the Mac cuz I don’t eat that stuff(long story, ask me later). Oh yah, your hot dog comes with a random chocolate; mine a Milky Way and my comrade m&m’s. Not sure if you can trade but it was a pretty nice and surprising addition to our dog. We were really thinking about getting the crack pie for dessert, especially after a customer came in and ordered 3… straight up. We asked what was in it and he named off 4 types of sugar, and a bunch of crazy goodness. No one else carries them, according to the dude that walked in and ordered them. We held off this time simply because I didn’t have the room for it. Next time, I guess. Customer service — A+(excellent) The staff asked us first if it was our first time there and then how we found them. Of course I mentioned that they were billed as one of the top spots to eat in Miami. The guy at the counter walked us through the menu and was extremely nice and helpful when we couldn’t make a decision. When others came in after us that got custom dogs, they asked if the toppings were enough, that was pretty cool. Parking might be a little tough, it’s a mini strip-mall, shared with a few small restaurants and shops, so you’ll just have to manage. The place is a little small, you can see the sign from the street but we came at night and couldn’t find it right away. I could see some people getting intimidated with the area, but don’t be, looks can be deceiving. There are only maybe 10 – 12 counter seats and some outside so if there are a ton of you, you light have issues. Awesome spot, awesome dogs, and awesomeness all around!

Why bother coming here: Sweet Dogs is ranked No.12 on the Unilocal’s Top 100 Places to Eat in the U.S. for 2015( ) and ranked No.1 on the Unilocal’s Top 50 Places to Eat in Miami( ). Parking: A pretty small(and free) parking lot with only one way to get in & out(easy to drive into the lot, but difficult to drive out). Service: Very friendly service — the moment I walked into the shop, one of the staff immediately called me boss right off the bat. Just a note, $ 1 additional fee for credit card transaction less than $ 10. Menu: You can choose one of eight different pre-customized hot dogs that are named after each Miami sports home team & you can also substitute hot dogs to Italian sausage or Polish sausage by paying a little bit more. Other sides also include mozzarella sticks, mac & cheese, coleslaw, beef chili, BBQ beans, french fries, various milkshakes, etc. *** The Dolphins(Grilled Ham, Smoked, Bacon, Melted Mozzarella Cheese, Pineapple, Home Sauce, Papitas — a choice of hot dog OR Italian sausage OR Polish sausage, $ 8): I chose Polish sausage and it was a lot bigger than your typical hot dog(about a quarter pound). I see the appeal — a giant bacon-wrapped sausage with papitas(potato sticks) for crispy texture. Great toppings, but sausage was not as flavorful as I thought.(3.5÷5) Mac & Cheese(homemade, $ 4): It had a layer of croutons and powdered parmesan cheese. It was one amazing mac & cheese with such a smooth texture. Arguably one of the best mac & cheese I’ve had.(5⁄5) *** I’ve had better hot dogs in Los Angeles(e.g. Dog Haus & Portillo’s Hot Dogs), but Sweet Dogs still offers excellent service, generous portion of hot dogs /sausages, and amazing mac & cheese. P. S. — The hot dog also came with a small bag of Whoppers Original Malted Milk Balls.

I had extremely high expectations for this place. 400+ Reviews with 5 Stars? Voted #1 Place to Eat in Miami? I’ve had so many memorable experiences with food in this city, so I was heading towards Sweet Dogs expecting the Hot Dogs there to taste of Angel Wieners and Sweet Dreams. None of what i just wrote actually happened. When I actually got to Sweet Dogs, well… I got to it «twice» because I passed by it while looking for it. I was extremely surprised. People spent so much time taking pictures of the Food that I never remember seeing the exterior of the Place. It was really tiny. Like… 6 Bar style Seats and 2 outdoor tables with 8 seats total. Anyways, we get there at Sunday Night, where literally nobody is there, and the next door Mona Lisa pizzeria is packing. I ordered my Miami Dolphins Hot Dog to «celebrate» their measly victory over the Ravens today. Also because I like Ham & Pineapple together. The Hot Dog toppings were a fantastic blend, reminiscent of Venezuelan flavors. The Hot Dog itself however tasted like any other Hot Dog I would find in my local Winn-Dixie or Sedanos. The Bread was a great, crunchy, toasty wiener holder. I ordered Mac & Cheese on the side because even with my Snack-Sized 3 Musketeers, I still felt hungry. $ 4 for a cup of Mac & Cheese. Jesus… It’s not American Cheese either. It’s Mozzarella, with some sort of Croutons swimming around the top. It was good, but it might be too creamy for some people’s throats. In my honest opinion, I thought the food was mildly overpriced. I think the reason this place is at the top of Miami’s Unilocal Food District right now because A.) The Owners of Sweet Dogs paid ALOT of money to advertise and be with Unilocal, and by doing so, they got a bonus in more ways than one. or B.) This type of food just happens to appeal to Miami’s General Demographics. I know Many Cubans or people from Central America enjoy eating this type of food. I like eating these types of food myself! But at the end of the day, A Hot Dog is still just processed meat from the factory that in my opinion, tastes mediocre, and does nothing great to your health.(Seriously, NEVEREVER Google how Hot Dogs are made.) I thought Sweet Dogs would change my opinion about the Furt’s named after Frank, but instead I am sad to report that my Wiener is still soft.

Serendipity takes us to great(food) adventures. My daughter calls me while stuck in terrible traffic on the(where else?) Palmetto. She asks me to check Waze to find out what is wrong. I ask her for a reference for her location, and she gives me the name of a Colombian hot dog place she can see from her car. I check Unilocal to get her location based on the hod dog’s restaurant address. While I’m checking for accidents in the area, we start to discuss our diner options. Since I was on a «hot dog» page on Unilocal,I see Sweet Dog listed with 5 stars! I tell her: «we have to check this out». An hour later we are heading to the supposedly best hot dog in Miami. Can it be that good? It’s just a hot dog! We step in and immediately are greeted by a very friendly staff. We told them it was our first time there, and he patiently explained the menu and how everything works. We ordered the FIU(fried egg, sauteed onions, cream cheese, sauerkraut, jalapenos and papitas) and another one«custom», but we both opted for the polish sausage(a full pound, huge!). Added a side of the Mac and Cheese, a Coconut shake and an Oreo shake. Man, the dogs were huge, a fork and knife situation. The Mac and Cheese was excellent. The shakes creamy and hearty. Really everything was a 10. What I think stands out is not just that the food is very good, but the attention and love for details of everyone there. The place is small but ultra clean, service ultra nice. A tiny place lost on 8th street where you feel good, enjoy great dogs and shakes. We left stuffed and happy. Recommended!

Hadn’t had a hotdog in ages — this was my one pregnancy craving today. Parking lot set up, is terrible. Took a while to find parking, and it took great skills to back up without hitting everyone around me. The restaurant itself is small. Sitting stools, with one table outside. I asked for suggestions since I didn’t have my good glasses with me(couldn’t read menu) but did mention I had seen pictures of Fritos on hotdog on their Unilocal page, and I hated Fritos. I was given three recommendations, and with my luck, the one with Fritos was Included in suggestions, and I so happen to pick that one, unknowingly. I hated the hotdog, as there was nothing special about it(unmelted store bought cheese, a few other ingredients placed together— nothing that stood out in taste) topped with crushed Fritos. Yuck! I also ordered the Mac and cheese, since people raved about it. Nothing special about that either. As for the drink, I ordered the«mango madness». I was under the impression that it would be a home made style drink, I was wrong— it’s a Snapple flavor. My bad for assuming, guess I was inclined to think that, based on the few drinks I saw people posting on Unilocal. Overall, not worth the $ 16 for a lunch. They also have no kids menu, so the option is a huge hotdog or side item. Won’t be returning or recommending.

This spot was listed as Unilocal’s #12 place to eat in the country and they definitely lived up to that rating. We had the Mac and cheese with croutons, they were very creamy and delicious, along with a side of fries. The«main course» was a sweet dog, consisting of Smoked Bacon, Lettuce, Sweet Peppers, Chopped Onions, Home Sauce, La Choy Noodles. It was hot-dog heaven. Check this place out if you are in MIA!

This is a hole in the wall place with great flavor. I came in and was nicely introduced to the extensive menu, with emphasis on great quality Nathan dogs with homemade toppings. I ordered the Italian sausage regular and waited for one of three seating areas to become available. The sausage and the Mac and cheese side were both delicious. I’d come back more often if this place wasn’t 20 minutes from my house.

Whooaaaaaaaaa what kind of hot dog is this? Miami’s idea of an interesting dog is totally different than the unique ones LA has. My «Miami Marlin’s» dog had: Guava BBQ suace Fried Egg Sweet Plantains Chopped Onions Banana Peppers Papitas(Potato sticks) JY had the Dolphins which had pineapple in the dog, which was a nice surprise and pretty delicious. I personally liked the Dolphins dog better than my Marlins. The Marlins was a tad too sweet for my taste(plantains, guava, etc). The Mac and cheese in a cup was pretty amazing, very cheesy. Top 100 of Unilocal in 2015, impressive! Docked a star because the pepitas were hard to eat as it sort of scratched the roof of my mouth. EEK!

My mom has been nagging me for months to bring her to Sweet Dogs. The reviews and articles written about Sweet Dog would make the anticipation to try the spot greater and greater. I just don’t know why it took me so long to finally try it. I stop by on a Saturday around 1pm with my parents. My mom ordered the Mac Dog which is a hot dog with Mac & Cheese and croutons, OMG was it delicious! I had the Dolphin which has bacon, ham, cheese, special sauce and potato sticks. All the ingredients tasted fresh and the hot dogs were made with love. The actual hot dog was juicy and did not taste processed. They also give you a snack size candy with your dog, which is great for those who love something sweet after you eat like I do. My mom and I also ordered a strawberry milk shake. They were even better than Dairy Queen! Another plus is there service. They were quick and friendly. I definitely can’t wait to come back. This time I won’t take so long!

Tell me, how many places do you know that have been reviewed well over 350 times and maintain a five-star rating? I honestly don’t know of many places. I was actually searching for Versailles Cuban restaurant when I stumbled upon this sweet place on my Unilocal app since they’re located less than 1.5 miles away from each other. I quickly skimmed through the reviews and decided that I had to give this place a try before I leave town. Everything on the menu sounded so good and I would have tried every single item on the menu. However, with a little self control, I decided to try the Marlin: You get your hot dog topped with a fried egg and some sweet plantains to give it some Latin American flavor, some onions, some papitas(crispy potatoes, not really french fries), some peppers, and then smother it with some delicious guava bbq sauce. HOLYCRAP, this hot dog was good! I also tried their homemade mac n cheese and it came served in a little cup with some croutons in it. Not the best I ever had, but it definitely wasn’t disappointing. My sister wasn’t too hungry so she just ordered some seasoned fries. I really wish she would have ordered a hot dog so I could have a taste of something else, but oh well. The seasoned fries weren’t too bad either. But you can’t really mess up fries, you know? I wanted to try the crack pie that everybody seems to be raving about but they were out of it. Bummer. So I guess I’ll just have to make plans to come back here. The restaurant is really small. They only had very limited counter seating and one(or was it two) outside tables. I came in around 9 pm and although it wasn’t very busy, but people kept coming and going. Another thing that also makes this place plenty awesome is the fact that they open until 3:00AM on the weekends. I’m from Houston and I can’t think of any place that serves Hot Dogs of this caliber that late! All we can get that late is some«meh» Vietnamese food. Now I wish Houston Hot Dog restaurants would do something like this. You live in Miami? Haven’t tried this place out yet? What the hell is wrong with you? You’re passing through? Visiting? Skip Versailles and come here instead. Seriously.

I really want to open with something about taking a weiner… i’m sure 200 of this places 300+ reviews start with something along the same line though. I live 3 blocks from sweet dogs, i actually remember passing by for a dog a few months after it opened up. Even though it had some interesting looking dogs on the board, i never though it would become so damn popular. I decided to give it another go tonight. You can choose to have your dog boiled, grilled or deep fried. I had the«dolphins» dog just as its advertised. It was tough to pick with so many interesting options, but the pineapple sold me. There was a fun flavorful party in my mouth for about 3 seconds — then i just about bit my finger off(i devoured the dog). I also had the BBQ beans, they were lacking a bit. The guy had recommended adding some onion and cheese to it(at no charge) since that is how they usually do it. I think the onions saved it — so that was a good call. I was going to give this place 4 stars, but then there was an interaction with a costumer that made me overlook the fact that this place is in a crappy little plaza that doesn’t even have spaces wide enough for my little nancy wagon. Definitely take your dog to go — not enough space to park and not enough space to breath. This hippie woman walks in and asks if they have vegetarian dogs since she doesn’t eat meat. Mr. weiner apologizes and points out that the ONLYSERVEBEEFFRANKS. He then pointed at the door and told her that she should GTFO before he beefs the hell out of her. Ok… j/k. he actually said that if she brought in her own veggie dog that they would cook it for her and just charge her for the bun/toppings. I thought that was really cool of them. I also would have given them 5 stars if the original scenario went down though.
