Priced way out of range. You can find the same products elsewhere same quality but a fraction of the cost. Who do they think they are?

I was excited to to visit Shanghai Tang, hoping to find some pieces from their spring/summer collection(think gorgeous silk dresses with ethereal prints that seem to gracefully float about the body) in the store. Sadly most of the women’s offerings seemed more appropriate for a gal planning to dress up as Suzie Wong on Halloween and wanting a very authentic costume. Shanghai Tang is now owned by Swiss luxury goods company Richemont, so you can be sure this tiny shop in the Mandarin Oriental on Brickell Key has no shortage of spendy gifts like lacquered wood jewelry boxes and over the top silk pajamas.

I really love this store, it is a shame they don’t have one in orange county, ca. I was fortunate enough to visit their flagship store in Central, Hong Kong about 8 years ago. My mom bought so many tops and jackets that the store offered to bring them to our hotel for us free! I bought a lot of notebooks, address books, pocket mirrors, scarves, etc. for myself and BFFs. So I demanded my friend to drive me here when I was in Miami. Like Kevin L. said, this store only carries a portion of their entire collection, but it was enough to satisfy me. I bought a silver plated picture frame,($ 90) and silk cover picture albums,($ 70), not cheap, but they were for my MOM! I got a set of very cute tea cups for my in laws($ 100). There was another customer from England, she bought three qi pao(asian style long dress with the unique high collars) and a jacket. Pounds currency are worth more now, so I guess her bill total of $ 2200 is really not that bad? Nevertheless, their styles are modern and cannot be matched by imitations. Go take a look for inspiration even if you are not buying.

Hong Kong based Shanghai Tang’s 3rdUS Outlet is located in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel lobby. If you’re into clothes with an Asian flare this place is for you. Men’s dress and polo shirts with mandarin collars, cashmere sweaters, silk blouses are just a few of the styles you will find here. Like its other US stores in New York and Honolulu the selection offered is a small assortment of what you will actually find in their Hong Kong flagship store located at the Pedder Building(Central). Nevertheless for those that don’t have the chance to go to Hong Kong you will a taste of what you are missing out on. Their clothing is not cheap, but then you need to remember the items aren’t highly mass produced. Many of their pieces include intricate and complex designs that you will notice when you pick up one of their pieces. Their items are unique and I haven’t seen anything that matches their style. The clothing options range from everyday casual wear for men, women, and children to some beautifully crafted blouses and dresses for women. They also have an assortment of accessories for the home ranging from frames, photo albums, pillows, blankets, and tableware. While stores outside of Hong Kong don’t nearly have the entire assortment their selection of in-season items is excellent. The staff are very friendly and helpful in assisting you in finding the correct sizing. One piece of advice, if you see something you like get it as for the most part items are not repeated the following season.
