Royal Caribbean – Majesty of the Seas

I’ve been on this cruise now five times. I know that the ship is old and tired but I have to admit I have a blast each and every time we go out on it. I always enjoy the service the food is very good for what it is the entertainment is fun but I believe at the end of the day it’s the people that you go with that really make the experience. Yes I could sit here and pick on 100 things that are wrong but once again when you go with good people it makes the entire trip.

I am very disappointed in Royal Caribbean’s Customer Service. We have cruised around 70 total days on RCCL our last cruise a 14 day Baltic cruise on Brilliance of the Seas. We did not have the best experience on this cruise and wrote to RCCL three times (two letters and one email). We had issues with some of the ground tours, the food choices and quality along with some other complaints.
RCCL never had the courtesy to even get back to me. As a customer who has spent thousands of dollars on this and prior cruises, I would have thought they would have valued my business enough to get back to me. I guess I was wrong and in the forte we will take our business elsewhere.
My wife and I are experienced cruisers as we have been on 35 plus cruises. I have never felt a need to write to a cruise line before and would not have expected to be treated as if they didn’t care about their customers.

Really disappointed with my weekend cruise to the Bahamas on Royal Caribbean’s Majesty of the Seas. There is very little that I actually enjoyed while being on the boat, so let me go ahead and list those now:
— Staff were all super nice, especially our room attendant who got whatever we needed. He even made sure we had ice in our room at all times.
— The décor was really nice. I’m use to the tacky look of Carnival’s ships, so the décor on the Majesty was definitely a step up.
Now for what I did not enjoy…
— Our room was sooooo small!!! We paid extra for an ocean view room with a big window and not just a port-​key. I was expecting a big king size bed with a couch and at least room to stretch. Nope. Instead we got a closet with a king bed squeezed in. We literally could not walk along the sides of the bed and had to enter from the foot of the bed. Oh and our window looked out on the deck, and not on the ocean.
— You have to check out beach towels before leaving the ship. On past cruises with other lines, our towels were always left in the room the night before. Waiting in a 45 minute line for a towel is not okay.
— The line to catch the tender to Coco Cay was horrific. We literally waited an hour to get off the boat.
— The food at the Windjammer buffet was HORRIBLE. Truly some of the worst food I have ever had. It reminded me of summer camp food.
— Dinner took about 2 hours each night. We would go to the dining room at 6:30pm (the earliest we could possibly go), hoping that we would be done eating before 8pm when the shows would start. Nope. Each night we got out around 8:30pm and missed half the show. I would even specifically ask for speedier service so we could get out by 8pm. That did nothing. How a 3 course meal takes 3 hours is beyond me.
— The shows were not good. There was a show call Boogie Wonderland, and it was mostly slow songs… Um «boogie» implies dancing to me. Oh and why did they have a Boyz II Men song mixed in when it was supposed to be a 70s show?
— The comedian only performed twice the entire trip. Once on Friday night and once on Sunday night. The other performances only had one show time too. So if you were unable to go to the 8pm show… too bad.
— Announcements were constantly made for us to clap for the Majesty’s wonderful staff. We were asked to applaud the staff at lease 20 times during our 3 day trip. Now I would understand thanking the staff several times on the last day for all the hard work they did, but not constantly throughout the trip. That was just over the top for me.
— The 18+ «Quest Game Show» was borderline sexual harassment to the guests. Women participants were asked to remove their bras and men to strip down to their underwear (among many other incredibly sexual and inappropriate tasks). Some of the women that removed their bras had those bras lost/​left behind in the scuffle of the game. Instead of having their bras handed back to them, the CRUISE DIRECTOR himself told the women they had to bounce like kangaroos in order to get their bras back from him. I would have been mortified if I was one of those women.
— We chose to do the early check out so my fiancé could get to work on time. We were told that we could get off the ship in a timely manner as long as we were ready to get off my 7:30 am. This was not the case. We had to wait in a line that wrapped around the dining room for 30 minutes to walk off the ship. Then we had to wait in the customs line for another 45 minutes. Disembarking was very unpleasant.
Overall this was not a good trip. I’m not sure that I will never cruise Royal Caribbean again, but I will definitely never cruise on the Majesty of the Seas again.

Elizabeth and I went on a cruise to the Bahamas last weekend with some friends. Being that this was a three day cruise, I wasn’t expecting the Quantum of the Seas. However, it did fall short of my expectations on many fronts.
I’m going to make a list of pros and cons to help you decide if you want to cruise on this ship.
Pros– The staff was friendly. The party atmosphere was fun. The white party at the pool was a blast. The private island was super relaxing. I got to try conch fritters in a famous area of Nassau. The room attendant was very attentive and friendly. The food was decent in the dining room.
Cons– Something broke in our room and it took several calls to get it fixed. The room was ridiculously tiny and we paid more for a window that we didn’t realize wasn’t even a view of the water. it pointed directly into a public walkway. The wind jammer (buffet) was absolutely disgusting. The milk was fake. It took us two hours every night to eat dinner because the dining room is understaffed. The tender to the island had an hour wait. There was only one show time and the shows kind of sucked. *warning* Don’t participate in the final game show. The cruise director was incredibly innapropriate, forcing men and women to expose themselves to him and us during the show and take off their underwear in order to compete.
Though, a lot went wrong, it was really fun. But, I think it’s pretty hard to not have fun on a cruise, no matter the circumstance.

This was my 18^th cruise, so I have a fair amount to compare this one to.
Overall is it a 3… some things I noticed could technically make it a 2 but it’s a cruise and any day of vacation is at least worth a 3!
It seems to have become a «party» boat, probably because of its short weekend cruise schedule and its low low prices. So lots of Floridians on board! It is one of the oldest ships I have been on so there are no bells and whistles like the bigger, newer more refurbished ships.
And the food was subpar compared to all other RCCL ships I have been on. And the Mexican Restaurant that requires extra charge is horrible. Definitely dave your money on that one. The menu lists 5 different guacamole a but they literally take the plain guac and put a spoon of mangos on top of the mango guacamole a spoon of jalapeños for the spicy guac, etc… The entire meal ended up disappointing us much the same way as our starters did.
If you find a great deal and have cruised before go on it. If this is your first cruise to judge if you will like cruising then please pick a different ship so that you get a better perspective your first time!

I did not know Royal Caribbean hired racists.
Crew members don’t seem to be satisfied with the answers I give them when they ask me questions, especially questions about where I’m from. One asked me where I’m from and I said California. He looked a little puzzled and proceeded to say «But you look Chinese?!» Well, first of all, I’m TAIWANESE. And second, hmm, I did not know that Chinese can’t be from or living in California. Guess I learned something new. This is coming from an Indonesian guy, BTW, who barely speaks English.
Another asked me where I’m from. Same thing, I replied California. Doesn’t seem to be satisfied with what she heard, she proceeded/​probed, «But where are you ORIGINALLY from?» This came from a Filipino lady, who you can tell English was NOT her first language.
I was asked to take a photo when embarking on ship. The whole time the photographer and I conversed in English, even though we didn’t say too much. When I was leaving, he insisted on saying «thank you» to me in Chinese. I don’t appreciate anyone, other than me, initiating a different language when speaking with me. I speak English just fine, and way better than you, thank you very much. This came from a Filipino guy, who you can also tell English was NOT his first language.
I traveled solo. On formal dinner night none of my tablemates decided to show up, which is totally fine with me, since I’m already traveling solo. The dining manager came by to «greet» the table, saw I was dining by myself and said to me, «You’re by yourself? How sad?!» Really? That was a very crappy thing to say. I don’t need you, or anyone, to make me feel bad. Be positive — I’m on frickin vacation. Don’t bring me down.
I saw this guy who I believe sold me off-​shore excursion tickets at the desk on the pier. Since I thought he looked familiar I asked him, «Are you the guy who sold me excursion tickets?» His response: «But I don’t know what excursions I sold you.» Uh, that wasn’t what I asked. He seemed either irritated or doesn’t like his job too much.
I did not appreciate the staff announcing my country of citizenship when coming back onboard. If you want to personalize your greeting to me, by all means, please do — that’s a very nice touch. But I do not wish to be made known, especially there are people RIGHT behind me, what passport I’m holding — that’s none of anyone’s business but mine. Imagine I was role-​playing for fun on the ship — thanks, you just blew my cover. Whatever happened to protecting passenger’s privacy?
My Sea Pass card slipped out of my pocket without me knowing, so I went to get a replacement at Guest Services/​Front Desk. Having worked at hotels before, and recognizing PRIVACY is very important, I offered my ID so she can confirm she’s remaking the card to the right person. But she said, «That’s okay.» Even after I said, «Well, I wish you checked because I don’t want you to just give my key out to anyone»; she still rejected. I felt unsafe. I also felt that anyone could have had access to my account/​room without my knowledge/​permission.
For some reason I was under the impression that you have your own personal server. What I did not expect was to have my dining server team of two to be providing the service to 3 or 4 other tables. Although my server team was very professional and friendly, the service was really slow because they had to cater/​attend to other tables as well. Many times I had to flag someone down, wait to get my plates bussed, wait to get my dessert menu, etc.
Overall it was a really good first cruise experience. But, I wished that your staff would be more sophisticated when it comes to embracing the diversity, instead of pigeon-​holing people based on just the colors of their skin. And remember, you don’t know anything about me, or anyone on the ship. Stop making assumptions and/​or judgments.

What a joke, delayed boarding by 7 hrs because of a broken boat, the cruise only lasts 3 days.
Have been sitting on the floor with a few thousand other passengers for 3 hours because as of 8:00 PM: They have yet to board a single passenger.
They have not told us when we will sail.
They have left the aged and infirm w/​o special accommodation.
They have not offered water or food.
They have not told us what they plan to do about dinner reservations long ago passed.
They HAVE offered $ 25 on board credit.
As I said a joke. Take ANY other cruise line.
Just a quick add on to this nightmare review…
The reason for the delay? The boat had just had confirmed cases of Legionaires disease which Royal Caribbean hid from us until after we returned.
They then told us in what I assume was a CDC required notification via our travel agent. Advised us to follow up w/​our own MD’S if we had any symptoms, with of course no mention of compensation.
Burns my @$$ that they had already, with the aid of the CDC, traced the bacteria to their shower water supply so this was OBVIOUSLY NOT A NEW ISSUE, knowing all that they still placed their profits above public safety. TOTALLY UNETHICAL!

Just came back from a 4-​nighter on the Majesty of the Seas. Overall, it was DAMN fun experience. I could only give it 4.5 stars because of the age of the boat. Even though the staff kept it super clean, you can tell its age.
1. The Staff was super friendly and professional. Everyone was very helpful and really cared if you’re having a good time.
2. The food was great. I loved everything about the buffet.
3. The rooms were clean and a decent size.

As a first-​time cruiser, I was very nervous about my experience aboard RCI’s Majesty of the Seas. I traveled during the Fourth of July weekend and had an out-​of-​this-​world experience.
From boarding to disembarkation, I experienced world-​class customer service. I couldn’t believe how nice everyone was… it was like Disneyworld on water.
I refused to read any reviews before I cruised, because I didn’t want to have any preconceived notions about how bad/​good this ship was supposed to be. I must admit I came in with pretty low expectations because I didn’t expect a boat that could accommodate over 2k people to be THAT nice.
I am happy to report that Majesty of the Seas definitely exceeded my expectations. Was it the Buckingham Palace? No. But was it a well-​kept, spacious boat with activities galore, good food and an awesome staff? Yes.
The buffet was ok for day 1, but after we discovered the «dining restaurants» (aka Moonlight and Starlight), we never returned. The food was impeccable… seriously. It honestly rivaled some of the high-​end restaurants I’ve been to back in the States. Amazing! Also, when the kitchen had a hold up on the food for whatever reason, the waitstaff brought out an additional entrée so you wouldn’t starve while waiting… it was such a nice touch.
The nighttime entertainment was cool – though some of the performers could have used a few vocal lessons, lol. I will say RCI definitely caters to an older crowd, and I was cool with that. Even at 24, I don’t like dealing with a whole bunch of ratchet noise on my vacation, so I appreciated the maturity of the patrons :-) There were still hella 90s babies to represent!
Cococay was awesome –make sure you trek down to Barefoot Beach for better sand, clearer water and no crowds! Just keep walking left when you get off the ship. We did not purchase any RCI excursions for our trip in Nassau nor Cococay. We used a company called Paradise Ocean Sports to Parasail, Snorkel and Jetski for only $ 180 (can be even cheaper if you purchase the total package, but tends to sell out quickly).
I also won $ 100 the first night with the money crane game, so the casino is not rigged ;-)
I have no complaints about drink prices as I am not a drinker and my traveling companion and I were WELL aware of the nickel and diming before boarding so we had no surprises once we got back to the DC area.
All in all, I loved cruising and will definitely do it again, mostly likely with Royal. I would definitely recommend Majesty for first-​time cruisers. It’s short, sweet and fun!

First cruise. Ship was beautiful. Food was good not great. Did not enjoy the formal dining options either too fancy and small portions or to lame. Actually the buffet options were much better and varied nightly so that helped and Johnny Rockets was good! Pizza bar not so much… Room cleanliness was good. Music was good but after so much of pop and brazilain/​European music I was burnt out, need to play all genres. Pools were clean but at night not too much could’ve been the teens and drunks too that, made the environment less tolerant. Activities were not impressive and nor were there lots of choices. Comedian was not funny we were dozing off. Alcohol was everywhere and stiff drinks! Overall not too bad for 1^st cruise.

The only reason why i gave two stars is because the best thing about this cruise is coco cay. Other then that stay away frm majesty of the seas. This boat is so old its time for it to retire.

I had a great time on my Royal Caribbean Majesty of the Seas cruise. I went last year for my birthday with a friend and we both had a blast. It was both of our first cruise so we weren’t sure of what to fully expect (even after doing tons of research and reading hundreds of Unilocal reviews :))
The staff was amazing! Superb customer service. Everyone was very friendly and attentive. Our waiter was really great and this review deserves 5.5 stars just for him!
The food wasn’t that great but there were plenty of options and there’s a late night place open for foodies like myself that get food cravings at midnight. We chose to the later dinner option because I didn’t want to dine with children. All meals were included, the only thing we paid for separately were our drinks. I hate that you only received water, I think soda should have at least been an option aside from coffee or tea.
We sailed to Nassau then coco Kay and back to Miami. I had fun on all of the excursions, I went parasailing, jet skiing and did a nature walk. At Nassau we went to Atlantis, and I played the slots and took some photos. I also took the time to explore some of the local area and went to the NAG, did a winery tour and went into town to get a conch salad. Coco Kay is a private island so that’s where we soaked up some sun and did the excursions. There was a lot to do on the ship itself– a spa which I took advantage of and got a full body massage, a pool, hot tub, a gym, several battle of the sexes games, and live bands daily. The captain dinner was really nice. At the end, there was a dance with all the wait staff. It was really a fun experience.
The trip was only 3 nights and 4 days so we really didn’t spend that much time at either location or taking advantage of all of the entertainment as some things we didn’t know about until it was over or we woke up too late to participate. It gets cold at night so make sure you bring something warm to sleep in. Also, I got seasick on the very last day (my birthday) which really sucked! So make sure you bring some medicine. You could always buy some but it’s rather expensive on the ship. One area of improvement would be the check out process. I don’t remember exactly but IIRC it went by the floor you were on and it was just a hassle getting out because most people tried to skip lines and cut in front of others. Also, there was some discrepancies with my final bill but it out sorted out in the end.

This is our first cruise, but people filled us in on what to expect – we were told we were going to love it & that the food will be phenomenal.
I’ll start with the great things:
*Most of the staff was generally very friendly & pleasant. There were a few bartenders who were not so friendly, but I think it was due to a communication barrier.
*Our waiters for dinner Rudresh (Rudy) & Rodel were fantastic! Accommodating, efficient & entertaining.
*The evening events were good; we especially enjoyed comedian Kivi Rogers, Battle of the Sexes & Quest.
*Cococay was awesome! Beautiful weather for snorkeling! There was a free lunch buffet, but it wasn’t good at all. In all fairness – cooking for hundreds, taking it to an island & expecting it to be good is setting the bar a bit high – boxed lunches would’ve been better. The souvenirs were expensive – they were less expensive in Key West.
The not so great things:
* Our room was too warm all the time & made sleeping difficult.
*The bed (two twin mattresses put together) was uncomfortable.
*The ship was smelly & often smelled like poop – really! Poop!
*We were not impressed with the food; the buffet was sub par; perhaps a step above Old Country Buffet, Ponderosa, etc; the salad bar at dinner was lacking variety – there didn’t seem to be shredded cheese anywhere; I even mentioned to my husband that it seemed like they were taking leftovers from dinner in the dining rooms from the previous night & making Windjammers dinner from that.
*If we were hungry at night, our only choice was pizza – something lighter would’ve been nice.
*We never felt like we could get specific times for excursions – we’d ask two different members & get two different answers.
*We’d call guest relations & they wouldn’t answer the phone – so we’d go there in person & wait 20 minutes to ask for a wake up call… because one person was working.
*The night before the end of the cruise, ONE person was working to help people settle their bills.
*All inclusive meals should mean just that; however there were two restaurants that charged a cover fee & you had to pay additional for your meal.
*Hubby and I got massages, and I also had a facial. At the end, the masseuse proceeded to tell me what my skin problems are (Thank God I know these people are totally full of shit and I have great self esteem) and told me I have hyper pigmentation and rosacea (BS, I say! That’s a sunburn). Anywho…
*The spa people were very high pressure to get us to purchase extremely expensive products (which, by the way, caused me to break out like a fourteen year old) – when I went to return the $ 179 bath salts my husband bought, they started to argue with me about who they were for until I stopped the girl & said «This will be returned & credited to my account. Thank you.» I actually heard the spa manager giving her staff hell for not making enough sales on their over priced products.
*The highlight of the cruise (on the ship itself) was enjoying the company of two great couples who joined us for comedy shows, battle of the sexes & the adult scavenger hunt.
*We would not recommend RCCL to anyone!

Its a 3.5. The staff is amazingly friendly. The destinations are good: Nassau, Cococay a gorgeous private island, and inimitable Key West. The seated dinner is good but be prepared to dine (and chat) w strangers each night unless you cruise w a large group that can fill a large table. Request a stateroom w a BIG window if u choose oceanview room (we got stuck with a cubbyhole size window barely worth the fee we paid for oceanview). Cons? Its an older boat, well worn, needs a makeover, new carpet etc. The buffet food: fruit is nice but otherwise meh. Some love it but to me it was like cafeteria food w an odd smell. The hot tubs and pool are small. Theres a small gym and casino a rock wall but overall not a lot to do on boat itself.
We had a blast and loved the cruise. But ship needs an upgrade.

This cruise was a last-​minute booking for my wife and I. We boarded the ship in Miami. Being Crown and Anchor society members we went immediately to the head of the line. From Miami we went to Nassau, then their private island called Coco Kay, then Key West, then back to Miami. This is one of Royal Caribbean’s smaller ships, and is starting to show its age. No worries, my wife and I have a great time.
We decided to remain on the ship while we were in Nassau. In my opinion, Nassau is a dirty, filthy city. There was plenty to do on the ship, so we stayed on board.
We thoroughly enjoyed the beach at Coco Kay, calm Ocean waters. We really enjoyed the barbecue lunch that was included as part of our cruise package.
The next day we went Key West. Enjoyed visiting the old city and riding around the trolley in town.
The Majesty of the Seas, is scheduled for a retrofitting next year.
As a frequent cruiser, Royal Caribbean is my cruise company of choice.

This was my first time on a cruise! We came here for a family vacation and my parents flew in from Israel to join my girlfriend and I.
I’ll start by saying that overall we had a good time! The staff was great. Very welcoming and always eager to help even to eager to help!
The ship is a bit old and the interior is dated and a bit worn out.
Food: food was ok. It met my expectations so can’t complain. The bread was amazing! I don’t know who is the baker but he is well deserve a 5 star ranking!
Spa: the spa manager is super rude and does not keep his staff promises. We were told we can get the couple massage for $ 199 and he then told us that it’s not the case and that we will have to pay full price. When we asked the reasoning he said that he keeps it to himself. We then went to guest relations and asked to speak with a manager for 15 minutes the rep placed a report and we never heard back.
Drink packages etc: honestly we are not heavy booze or soda consumers so we didn’t take any package but if you drink more than 5 – 6 drinks a day you should do it!
Overall we had a good time. Cruise are a great opportunity to bring a family together!

Let me start with a little history of my cruise experience. I’m born and raised in Miami so going on a cruise is the norm. I’ve been on about 20 and I’ve been on Majesty of the Seas three times. I’m bias to Royal Carrieban over Carnival, but this trip I can’t give this ship more than 3 stars.
Let’s start with the MAJOR communication disaster. On Friday, our ship was supposed to set sail at 4:30 pm. Due to an oil leak we didn’t leave the port toll 930 am. Being on a ship that has an oil leak is not at all comforting, but to make matters worst no one told us anything about what was going on. Instead in the midst of dinner all our phones started ringing and we started to receive text messages that our cruise was cancelled! Everyone was freaking out and no crew member could give us a straight answer! We found out an hour later it was a mistake and they meant the texts /​phone calls to go out to the next cruisers not us… Umm talk about mood killer.
My next pain in the ass event occurred at the spa. We wanted to book a couples massage for our parents with the advertised price of 199 with no fine print or exclusions on the price. When we went to book the spa manager told us it would be 269 for a 3 pm massage not 199. We asked why and he said «he doesn’t have to tell us why it’s his discretion!!» Then he said we can book the same exact massage at 10 or 11 am for 199. How does that make sense? The guy was pompous and beyond rude.
Other than those two incidents the cruise was fun. This ship definitely has the décor worn out and the food in the dining room isn’t the best. I had to return a couple of plates. It was bad banquet food. However, the bread and all deserts were amazing! Whoever the head chef is needs to get mad kudos!
The pool, rooms, and lounges were all nice and easy to get to. I would recommend this ship for a fun getaway. My suggestion is to go on the Oasis of you are looking for a grand cruise experience if you are a first timer.

This was our first time in cruise… and i have so much to share .
let’s start with service… impeccable…staff will greet you with smile whether its 2am in the morning or last day of your cruise… our state room staff, Natalia was just AMAZING. We left our room for 2 hour and when we came back our room was sparkling with TOWEL ELEPHANT on our bed
2^nd best thing was food. i am vegetarian and it’s always my issue to find good vegetarian food. but Royals got that covered. not only they had food for us they also had good options… Chinese, Japanese, Indian, American. name the cuisine and they have it. desserts were mind blowing.
cleanness and hygiene— staff were very particular about this. sanitizer pumps were everywhere. before entering for dining they make sure you have sanitized your hands:)… so no more laziness, lazy people. be proactive so no one else will get sick because of you.
while embankment you cannot take cookie with you outside the cruise .they literally made one of the kid eat her cookie before leaving cruise. i am sure they must have a good reason behind it. Did they just started this? not sure. so no cruise food outside except may be fountain soda.
ship– it’s bit outdated but RCCL is still maintaining it pretty good.
I found BAR staff overworked and you can see that on their face…
first day it was all fine second day they will start ignoring you. third day you will see no smile, no greeting… like zombie …
Coco cay island – they have tender service there and it’s super fast. clean water and lot of activities… In their private island they have small golf cars carrying Heineken and Corona. you can stop them anytime and have chilled beer.
ripped off deals–
We purchased their water slide activity in coco cay and it was really bad one rubber water slide 23 $ whole day /​person. trust me after 5 times you are done. they don’t show that in their website but it’s only 4 $ /ride.so 4×5=20 $ .and guess what this doesn’t include all others. so i would suggest don’t buy all this in ship .go to island check it out and buy it there instead. if you like it a lot then buy their package otherwise have one or two rides
Snorkeling in Cococay– This was the only best activity in this island, as they seems to have broken plane or ship very close to shore, colorful corals and variety of marine… so we opted for this… but it was our first time. we couldn’t go too far. there were no professionals to take you around (they did give us some instruction on how to use it).
beverages package: — if you are not a heavy drinker better to buy drinks one by one instead of package (just my opinion, do your calculation and see)
Nassau, Bahamas — third day and we are in Nassau… the island is very pretty. colorful houses… and if you love shopping. you will love it there. We reached there on Sunday and guess what most of the city was close on Sundays:(.but thank god ATLANTIS WAS THERE. totally worth it… if you are reaching there on Sunday just buy tickets in cruise for Atlantis. don’t wait for last moment. as tickets gets over really soon and some of the tickets are cheaper in ship…
One recommendation to cruise line — please fix your customer support. IT’S TERRIBLE. before going for cruise we called them for some guidelines and they had no idea. they didn’t much about the ship. they didn’t know about activity and they didn’t know about place. Seriously bad…

Been on quite a few cruises in my lifetime and have had a blast. Ship is old and and smells like feet, you have a blast– shiny and new, you have a blast… but when ship has no shredded cheese at the taco bar, no bananas for breakfast at 8:30 AM and when the syrup is diluted and tastes like vinegar with the consistancy of an apple juice; I have a big problem!
If food and quality were my only issues I’d jack the rating up a star, but cruise staff was horrible. Cruise director and his team of entertainers were probably the worst I’ve ever experienced on a cruise– young, limited in english, loud and extremely annoying and the dude from the piano bar refused to take song requests… who does that? I thought the piano bar dudes appreciate the sing alongs and are there for the guests enjoyment??? guess again!
Karaōke lounge smells like sweaty booty and feet. A reason why this may be the case is a game called Quest they have right before where people are taking off their shoes, clothes bras, etc… uh huh! That game went over by half an hour and karaōke started at almost midnight. Not a good idea to have boobies in a room with families waiting to sing «I will Survive» and «Frozen» it’d beena better idea to switch that schedule and leave the mature games for later in the night.
I expected alot more from Royal and left unimpressed. Since I’ve been on competitors like Celebrity, Norwegian and Carnival I can attest to certain things and this particular ship with this particular crew was garbage. Quality of food, entertainment and staff was way below average.
I still had a blast, but that’s because I was with a group of 50 friends celebrating a 20 year anniversary. Majesty of the Seas I identify with old, raunchy and rude and annoying staff.

Set your expectations and you will have a wonderful cruise! Sailed this past weekend and really had an awesome time.
Check In: Was out of car and on board in less than 10 minutes.
Staff: Everyone was really nice. Having gone on NCL Epic as our last cruise, we commented how gruff everyone was on NCL… here on RC everyone was very nice… quite refreshing after our last experience.
Food was 8.5 out of 10… was really impressed by the dining room food was just great (too good in fact). I
The Compass deli was awesome. Had a cuban sandwich that was amazing, wife had a parma and brie pannini, and we had fresh crepes. Wish i found this place earlier.
Private island was pretty, pretty, pretty darn good… turquoise waters, band playing. Ok, food was just so so, but honestly was still full from breakfast so didn’t care. Plenty of chairs.
If I’m being picky…
No specialty restaurants, but in main dining room had an up charge for lobster and steak. Probably first cruise I didn’t have lobster on.
Rooms are dated but clean and small. Was hardly in there so who cares!
Sorrentos Pizza… no thinks. Skip that one next time.
Overall, it was just an awesome weekend getaway!
