Railroad Blues started out as a classy place revel in detail with great music, good drinks and well chosen staff. Like so often in Miami style went completely limbo with change of ownership. Ridiculously loud techno sounds from a DJ who shouldn’t work as such. Drinks out of tiny plastic cups, but what’s even worse the cheapest cups one can find on the market that leave a plastic flavor in your nose while drinking the WORST whiskey sour you can find on the planet. If your only creative idea is turning a once great bar into a greedy dumpster, at least find another name.

This evening I went to RRB tonight for the first & last time. The neighborhood is sketchy & that is a compliment. Tried to order a drink, they had no club soda at the bar. When my friend ordered a cocktail all they had was the worst of the worst brands. He had no idea what he had and said maybe it was at the other bar, ie the other end of the bar. The bartender was very nice, however he had no idea of brands of liquor he had. Two friends arrived after us, ordered drinks(after we told them the limited selection) when they asked for the tab it was over $ 30. I expect to pay top dollar at a nice place, in a beautiful neighborhood, with a knowledgeable staff, excellent selection, and ambience. But $ 30 for two drinks in the ghetto!!! As if our experience was not bad enough, as we ran to our car across the street a homeless man gave our car an oral stimulation. seriously $ 10 to get in & $ 30 for two drinks and then accosted by a vile homeless man as we left. Thank you but no thanks Railroad blues I will not be back!

Seemingly cool from the outside but they build it up to let you down. The décor is stunning but don’t let that fool you. This bar was renovated by previous owners with good taste. Seems like you would be able to get a decent beer or cocktail here but the only beer selection they had ATALL was canned Heineken and Heineken Light and Desperados, a beer the distributors will literally pay you to take off their hands because it’s so bad. No beer taps at all, no cocktail menu, bartenders are friendly but have no knowledge. Butted up against Steam, so just when you think it’s unpretentious people get sick of the vibes next door and come over to Railroad Blues to infect you with their douchebagness. Not worth your time or money. Bad part of town, plan on having your car broken into no matter where you park.

Came here for a show, the place is a dive bar, but has a really cool outdoors in the back and is connected to the club next door. The staff is decent, but also somewhat rude. The beer selection looks good, but they were sold out of about 75% of the beers making is pretty poor. I would still come back here to see another concert, but wouldn’t come if it weren’t for the music.

What can Miami have more of? Live music venues! Railroad Blues is a great spot to hear bands play anywhere from jazz, blues, funk, soul, etc. There’s no cover and no ‘tudes from the staff. The place is laid back and reminds me of a place I could easily find in Austin or New Orleans.

We spent New Year’s Eve here and it was fantastic! Inside bar has a cool and funky vibe, a great band set the mood with some seriously great blues! The bartenders were very professional and prompt even when it got busy, which is rare in Miami… Then the Main Squeeze hit the main stage outside and it was fantastic! Couldn’t have spent that evening better… well, almost… They always have some great musicians, fine drinks, top of the line service and all the staff is helpful and friendly. Consistent and professional, a fresh change from all the lame and horrendous places out there!

$ 9.00 beers served in small plastic cups. The live music is decent, but that’s about it. The ambiance out back is fair, so it’s a much better alternative when hanging with a group of friends.

Worst place to get a drink. Good idea for a bar but no one in charge seems to care about this place.

Good drinks and music. If you can ignore the hipsters that turn up here, this is an okay place.

They’ve done a great job with the old PS14 space. It looks great. It went from dive bar to nice bar. I think they should do away with the craft cocktails when the place is packed — it was pretty annoying to wait 10 minutes for a drink to watch the bartenders muddle and slice and all of that stuff. I love a good cocktail but maybe it’s better for the happy hour crowd as opposed to the live music crowd. Overall its definitely worth a visit — especially when you dig the band that is there.

My lady and I are constantly on the hunt for hidden gems and new businesses to try, and Railroad Blues Speakeasy was just what we were looking for. Framing the review with the fact that we came early and on a Wednesday night, your experiences may be different determined by when you visit. Railroad Blues sits next to Steam Nightclub in the South of Wynwood. It is a little off of the beaten path, with limited street parking — good suggestion to come a little earlier, or carpool to avoid being without a spot or having to walk. We were warmly greeted by John and Valerie, the resident barkeeps. The drink list is filled with craft cocktails with a reasonable variety, and all pours were full(Hint: Ask about the secret drink menu and you will not be disappointed). Drinks are on the mid-high price scale for the area, but few places will give you the quality or variety of craft cocktails that are made at Railroad Blues. The establishment does not serve food of their own, but you are encouraged to order from any nearby restaurants and have it delivered(a definite plus if you’re looking for a bite or to stay for an extended period of time). The overall ambiance was casual and relaxed with a good mix of people being respectful and pleasant. If live music is your thing, Railroad Blues will not disappoint. According to Valerie, Railroad Blues hosts a variety of music ranging from Blues and Jazz to Ska and a little bit of everything in between. When the band starts playing, the place really livens up — so if you’re looking for a quiet place to contemplate an important decision, it is best to come early. By contrast, if you are looking for music and people having a great time, arrive after 8:30 — 9:00pm. Overall, if you are looking for a quality craft cocktail or good live music, check out Railroad Blues for a couple of hours. It is sure to provide a unique experience in Miami that is off of the normally traveled path.

Railroad Blues is a good mainland option for the ever-popular craft cocktail trend. Offering up live music is a great decision, and we appreciated no cover charge when we visited on an October Friday night. An aloof doorman showed us to the entrance through a façade of bookshelves and with that the evening had begun. The interior is quite small but boasts cozy booths and the perfect level of lighting: dark enough to be sexy yet bright enough to tell if the stranger next to you at the bar is edgy or just unkempt. The craft cocktails are interesting and well priced, but unfortunately they don’t pack much of a punch. Sadly, I found the same to be true of the several vodka-sodas I had. Time and again I watched the bartenders pour a remarkably fast one count that looked like about an ounce — definitely shy of your typical 1.5 oz bar pour. I will gladly return to Railroad Blues for its fun vibe and live music, but I’ll be sure to opt for wine next time.

Great speakeasy in an unexpected place in unexpected city. It’s about time Miami has a place like this. Amazing drinks! Great live music!

Blues music bar in downtown Miami? Count us in! I read about this spot’s soft opening weekend(no cover) and thought it’d be worth checking out. There isn’t a sign or anything outside but next to what used to be the Vagabond. Inside is a smaller space in comparison to the likes of Avenue D. Curved booth seats align the left wall and the bar is to the right. In addition to the music, Railroad has crafted cocktails, around $ 11 each. We ordered their specialty Gin & Tonic and Old Fashioned drinks, both which were pretty good. We arrived at a little before midnight when one of the previous bands were finishing up. We caught a few of their last songs and were the type of band I’d love to see more of in a space like Railroad Blues. If being cooped up inside isn’t your thing, there’s an outdoor area in the back of the venue with chairs and tables spread throughout. After a few minutes of tolerating the dense humidity we headed back inside and were able to score booth seats for the next band’s performance. If you’re one who would prefer to sit and actually watch the band play, then stay away from sitting in the first booth toward the stage. The space where the band plays is in a bit of an odd spot since the stage is sunken back and the hallway blocks one from seeing the band. I’d recommend sitting in one of the further back booths towards the entrance. All in all Railroad Blues was a cool spot. The service was good for opening weekend which is always a plus during a first visit.

Finally Miami has a Blues Bar! The music is hands down amazing. Smaller then most bars, with great live blues music, an almost speak-easyish type of place with great and unique drinks that’ll make any drinker smile and enjoy. Immerse yourself in the music have a Hooch and bring some company. You’ll have a great time guaranteed.
