I’m so happy to find Papas Tapas on certain nights at Bougainvillea’s in Sunset every time I have a few drinks and forget to eat something beforehand. Everything looks pretty good but I have only tried the Argentinian-like fried beef empanadas and I am a fan. The have a deal that is 2 empanadas for $ 5 and if they are not already made, it only takes a few minutes for them to be ready. Next time, I’ll try something else!

Oh, yum. Just had the Chipotle Rubbed Pulled Pork Taco and Fried Mac N Cheese Balls at the Whistle Stop Rodeo. The pork was slightly smoky, slightly spicy and SUPER flavorful. I was stealing my two year old’s french fries so I could dip them in the leftover juices. The mac n cheese balls were crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside. The cheese(Gouda, maybe?) also seemed to have the teensy-ist bit of smoke to it and the pink sauce for dipping was great. Hope we see these guys again next month.

I’m so glad the food trucks finally came to my neck of the woods(at the expo event in Boca). I didn’t get to eat much from this place, but my dad got me a beef empanada from Papa’s Tapas while I was in line at another place. Holy cow, this was a great empanada. Nice and spicy, and it reminded me of the picadillo and cheese empanadas I used to get at Café Tu Tu Tango in the Grove before they closed. The one my dad got me just wasn’t enough, and thankfully they were still open by the time I was finished in that dreadful line at the other place. So I got two more beef empanadas and saved them for lunch the next day. They reheat very well(in the toaster oven), and they were just as fabulous as they were the previous night. I hope Papa’s Tapas makes some more trips up to Broward so I can stock up on more of those bad boys.

I was amazed at the outstanding food from Papas Tapas. Like Nedal Al, I loved the ceviche. It had delicious homemade tortilla chips, delicious limey cilantro oniony flavor, and I ate every bite. I also tried the slow cooked pork taco. It was really delicious with some kind of cabbage slaw and a delicate sauce. The food was definitely equal to what you would get from any 4 or 5 star restaurant. Now I didn’t try the short ribs. Recent weekend Trucks Out West in Miami. Thank you Chef Bruno!
