I can say without a shadow of a doubt this is the most caring, knowledgeable, and thorough doctor that has ever treated me. When she is taking care of a patient that is the only thing on her mind and never rushes. I can understand the wait time outside can sometimes be longer than expected but it’s because she does not stick to a 15 minute visit; and I thank her for that. I trust her completely and she is never condescending and takes my point of view into consideration when answering questions.

About 7 years ago when I was 38, I had a large fibroid that was causing me to have absolutely horrible periods to the point that I was severely anemic, white and weak. I was beyond thrilled at the thought of having a hysterectomy. Unfortunately, Dr. Martinez recommended a less invasive procedure where the blood flow to the uterus is restricted, thereby shrinking the fibroid. In my case this was a total waste of time and effort and added about a year to my suffering. She also recommended that I do a myomectomy instead of a hysterectomy, to preserve my chances of still having a child if I wanted one. I told her I preferred the hysterectomy as I didn’t think I’d be having kids, but she herself had just had a child in her forties, so she was pretty strong that I might still want that option and that my periods would be back to normal after. She really encouraged me in taking this route, which I did. Now, seven years later, my periods are from hell again. I’m in tears writing this. I have not had a child and I have zero regrets on that account, but I do have regrets that I didn’t do what I wanted years ago. Now I’m facing the same horror of uncontrollable periods all over again, plus facing the fact that I’ll likely need the hysterectomy now. I believe that doctors should listen better to the wishes of their patients as we’re all individual in our body and in our wishes for our health. My health, happiness and well-being should have come first, not simply retaining the option to carry a child. I hope that Dr. Martinez reads this review and takes it to heart.

Dr. Martinez was listed in my Cigna Healthcare Network close to me on Alton Road, so I called to make an appointment only to learn that she is practicing over at the professional offices at Mercy Hospital. I made an appointment with her there anyways given I wanted a female OBGYN, and it still seemed close enough to my home. Two days before my appointment, someone from Dr. Martinez’s office calls me and leaves an entire voice mail message in Spanish(I do not speak Spanish). I call back and the woman does not listen to me, and we have an enormous mix up about when my appointment is scheduled. I finally make my appointment, and I was left to wait for an HOURAND A HALF to see this doctor. I was instructed to get entirely naked, put on a thin hospital gown and left alone in a freezing room for half an hour of that. I was also put in another room that must have been under construction or something — it was not a pristine professional environment. So why the three stars for this ZERO star experience? I do think Dr. Martinez was pretty good, and if there was something wrong with you, she’d probably catch it. She was also really good with her exam, which is usually unpleasant and painful but wasn’t so much with her. They also have pretty convenient valet parking(with attendants who speak almost no English so there was some more unpleasant entertainment there with the other English speaking patients waiting), and there was an au bon pain downstairs from her office so I was able to grab a bite before my appointment, although I was pretty upset I rushed through my food to go to her office and then WAITANHOURAND A HALF. Obviously this office has some serious operational flaws, but I’m glad I waited — but would happily go to someone else with quality and without the wait and Spanish. It would be interesting to see/learn if this was their«normal» or just a really bad couple of days for them! It’s be great to find a quality OBGYN like Dr. Martinez, but better to find one where you don’t feel tortured to actually see her and with a more professional experience :)
