This is the worst Cuban restaurant with the worst customer service. The manager, Carlos, was outright rude and disrespectful and should not be heading up a restaurant. He had the unfortunate opportunity to deal with this troglodyte to attempt(and I say attempt because I’m not sure if he had the mental ability to understand) a situation with their breakfast«buffet». Needless to say he literally asked my daughter to stop talking and proceeded to ramble unwilling to work with us on the problem. I will never eat here again. I will, as will my large party, write to corporate to inform them of this unfortunate experience. Hopefully they will be more considerate and respectful in their treatment of paying customers. Aside from this, the food was mediocre– at best. There are hundreds of better places to eat Cuban food and even many more to eat a crappy breakfast. Save your money and eat somewhere better.

Can’t believe the horrible service at the carreta window. Never fails, literally waited 5 minutes at least 5 woman looking at me and no one had the decency to even acknowledge me. Even who I think was the manager told one of the girls to attend to me, she literally looked at me and walked away. So I walked away too and left without buying anything.

Es triste ver que ha decaído la calidad de este restaurante. Hace unos años lo considerábamos uno de los mejores. Los platos que pedimos estaban tibios. La mesera que nos atendió estaba apurada, con poca cortesía.

The service is not horrible but nothing to brag about, the food is good but not the best Cuban food in miami. The window is nice for a quick coffee and croqueta

As a business traveler, La Caretta was recommended and I was very pleased to eat here 2x for lunch. It was very busy both times, but I was seated upon walk in. While here I enjoyed the large Cuban sandwich with plantains. Then the second lunch I enjoyed the shredded pork with the mora rice. Sorry, not sure of proper Cuban names or spelling. Both times my food was served hot and delicious, and I eagerly enjoyed my lunch both days. The service was friendly and very adequate. I just wish I had more time to try more things. Maybe next time. I’d recommend this restaurant to all and try something new.

Very disappointed with this place. My friends said it was the best Cuban food in Miami but it was the opposite. The food was cold, bland and the presentation was unremarkable. I told the waitress my food was cold, she took it, popped it in the microwave and returned it. Any restaurant that takes pride in their food would prepare a new plate. How I know you ask? The dish with meat had remnants of yellow rice and the yellow rice was still dispersed on my plate and not in a neat circle… thats a clue people. The service was mediocre as well. Dining outside was nice otherwise, we should have gone to the original location downtown instead.

I don’t even want to write anything. This is like a fast food restaurant without the drive thru. I can say is a indoor drive thru. I just don’t like it at all.

I have always been a big fan of La Carreta but have always visited the Bird Rd location. However, this location(International Mall) is not one that I will be ordering from again. I placed an order for delivery, chicken soup with a side of white rice. When I opened the soup I added the rice and as I began eating it I saw a baby roach floating on the top of my soup! Mind you I am 8 ½ months pregnant, I nearly vomited my life away when I saw that. When I called the manager wouldn’t get on the phone. Instead he sent messages with the phone attendant which took forever. Finally, after being on the phone for nearly 25 minutes they said that I would have to send it back so they can have proof! They offered to send a new soup in exchange for the«bad» one but considering the fact that the new one will be coming from the same batch as the original I think I’ll pass. To get my money back I would have to get an on account credit but I will not be returning to this location so no thank you; to get a credit to my cc I had to go in to the restaurant to do it, um again no. I told them to keep the money and that they lost a customer(not they he cared I’m sure).

La Carreta has always been one of our go to restaurants in Miami. This time however, they fell a bit short. The service was lackluster at best. Everyone seemed to be a bit grumpy. The food was okay. The fried chicken dish was flavorful albeit a bit dry. They put the tostones on the same plate as my veggies, so the tostones came out soaking wet. Not tasty. The fried fish was delicious as was our fried yucca appetizer. I won’t write them off just yet, but will be open to trying new places.

I went there on Sunday afternoon, it was the only place around where they did not have a 2 hours waiting list so my friends and I we went for it. It was 11 of us, we were seated almost right away. The food is good, I mean it’s not the best food you’ll ever have in your whole life but they have some great Cuban dishes. I ordered pork and my husband had beef, both dishes were tasty. We also ordered a chocolate cake as we were celebrating a birthday, and it was good. Service is just normal, not bad not good, the waitress took our order and brought the food, no more no less. I’d be back if I am around.

Avoid this place at all cost. Hostess took me and my wife to a booth and I asked for a table. Hostess took us to a table and before we sat down she walked away. My wife and I decided to request outdoor seating as screaming children were everywhere. When I approached the hostess station and requested outdoor seating, the hostess proceeded to insult me — maybe her father owns the restaurant. I then spoke to the manager whose totally lame response was«she doesn’t know how to treat people because she just arrived here from Cuba». Really? Never again…

I’ve been to La Carreta restaurants my share of times, including this one. Being next to the mall it’s kind of hard not to stop by every now and then, even though there are a lot of other choices not too far. If compared to other Carreta locations, this one should change their carpet flooring inside as it doesn’t have a nice appearance and pretty much makes the place feel a bit dirty. I do like that they have outside seating. Food is pretty standard in all locations but I wasn’t impressed with the fish chunks here, they were only good with tartar sauce and lacked otherwise. Nevertheless most items on the menu are yum.

Horrible service, they expect you to speak Spanish to their servers, how about your servers learn English… we sat here for 30 min AFTER placing our order and the place was pretty empty and we got soggy bread and no food, when we asked for the food to go we also asked for our bill AND we continued to wait for that also guess we should have asked for it in Spanish… we ended up just getting up and leaving !! No food but hey thanks La Carreta

A friend and I were headed to Dolphin Mall at around 1 on Sunday afternoon, were hungry and decided to stop here. In short, no complaints at all. Though the place was very busy and we were lucky to find parking as quickly as we did(we noticed as we left that 3 or 4 cars were sitting idle in the lot, waiting for a space to open up), we were seated right away and given menus when we walked in, and by the time the server arrived to take our beverage orders, we were ready to order both our drinks and our meals. I had the Churrasco steak with rice/beans and plantains with a Sprite, my dining companion had the chicken with rice and a café con leche. My steak was very flavorful(if not a touch salty), as was the churrasco. The rice and beans were perfect, and the soft slices of bread with melted butter and garlic they put on the table for us to share before our meals arrived really hit the spot, as we were hungry. The total bill came to just over $ 31 before gratuity for everything, which was reasonable. It should also be noted that our meals were served to us surprisingly quickly after we placed our orders. The only part of the experience that lacked a bit of polish on this day was the service. My friend needed to ask for sugar for his café con leche, but wasn’t able to get a servers’ attention for a few minutes after they’d brought his drink. Also, while they gave me a straw when they served my soda(note that they serve cans of soda here, rather than fountain service), my friend had to ask a passing server for a straw for his ice water. Additionally, after we finished our meals, we had to wait a bit longer than we should’ve for our check to be given to us.

I have given this place a couple of opportunities for breakfast, but it always fails! Waited over 40 minutes for food, then food was cold, you can taste that food was heated in microwave, service staff is rude and unprofessional. The manager came to table and didn’t speak a word, let his staff handle it all… If this a chain type restaurant, they should at least spend on Costumer Service training from top to bottom…

Had a delicious breakfast this morning at La Carreta. Clearly I felt like I was transported to Havana for an hour. Not sure a place can get more authentic. Enjoyed a wonderful fresh flakey Cuban pastry with guava and cheese. It was delicious. Had a huge sweet café con leche I savored. Also had a fresh squeezed orange juice that was too warm — hence the only flaw and the reason I am giving them 4 stars. I will definitely be back. That is a promise. Hola Havana!

You can’t go wrong with anything from La Carreta. It might not be fancy and it has a lot of competition from other places like Sergios, Havana Harry, and Isla Canarias. But this place is definitely the standard when it comes to Cuban food. They offer vaca frita, ropa vieja, masita de puerco, chicharron de pollo, croquetas, media noches, arroz imperial, and I can go on and on. If you’re ever in the mood to just take your food home and eat it, you can order your stuff at the window they have on the side. Or if all you’re just craving is some coffee, maybe a pastelito or croquetas, this window is the spot. Their breakfast option is great too! $ 8 and you’ll have a large breakfast with eggs, croquetas, hams, potatoes, toast, and your much needed café con leche. Portions are just great. You get your money’s worth here. Service is always great. You’re well tended to here. From the waiter to the busboy, everyone provides a great service.

My husband is Cuban and his parents make the most amazing Cuban food I have ever had… with that said, this place was delicious! It’s hard to find good authentic Cuban food, this restaurant gives fresh and flavorful Cuban food. My favorite was the hot Cuban bread they brought to our table first, I couldn’t get enough! I wanted a basket to go! The chicken was nicely seasoned, the cooking wine sauce was terrific, and the black beans were tasty also. The only thing I didn’t care for was the Flan. I won’t order dessert again, maybe I’ll substitute my dessert for more bread :-) Prices are great also!!!

Usual breakfast spot on my way to work each morning. Stop by the window and have a Cafesito(Some of the best in town, btw) and depending on my mood an empanada(pollo), croqueta or a pastelito de carne. I’ve dined there as well pretty standard cuban food nothing spectacular just plain good. Weekend Brunches are good when you’re in the area but nothing worth coming specifically for.

I like this place better than the other Carreta, but it lacks the dark outside/yet inside kinda vibe. Get me a hot Cuban and a coffee and I’ll be happy — and if that Cuban happens to have a sandwich with them I’ll have that too! Pretty people, mixed with families late at night with groups of television people who just got off work. They have some of the best chicken noodle soup and their pork of course is awesome. We had a table of about 9 people and they were gracious enough to pre cut our check into groups. Thank God that Cubans stay up late and are so hospitable! Enjoy!
