Such a great little spot! My party of 5 tried the French toast, steak frites, and choripapa. We shared the three plates and it was perfect portions for five to taste. Everything was delicious, the French toast was a perfect combo of sweet and fluffy, topped with cream and fresh fruits. The choripapa had a great flavor and texture. Finally, the steak frites were a hit and a great end to our meal. Top it off with mimosas $ 40 for bottle with carafe of oj. Very chill place, definitely need to come back to try more plates!

This place is adorable. The restaurant is cozy with a great ambience and rustic décor. The food is excellent. We ordered from the brunch menu, and had the fried chicken with pancakes and the brunch burger. Both were cooked perfectly and tasted incredible, and the portions are enormous. Our server accommodated for me and made an iced latte that was delicious and very nice of him. It was too hot for a regular latte. The service was great everyone was very gracious and attentive. The neighborhood is not the best but it is definitely worth coming here. The restaurant makes great food, with wonderful service and a good ambience. This would be a great place for a date night One tip, if your coming Friday or Saturday nights call ahead and make a reservation, the restaurant is small.

Finally got around to trying this joint that has been on my list forever. Their outside garden area is so adorable I didn’t even know they had that! I would say this place is something I would expect to see in williamsburg or west village in NYC. We comfortably sat there with 9 people and had an amazing meal. The cuisine has a Person flare to it so the spices/aromatics are so good. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, I think everyone ordered something different and were very pleased. I ordered the meatballs(so so good) and shared the persian lamb shank. by far the best dish I’ve had in a while. I would definitely go back there just for this lamb shank. The service was so pleasant and our waiter was hilarious. Very easy going environment, low key but quaint restaurant. You really can’t go wrong.

I give this place four starts just because it’s small and should have a bit more space, but I loved it! I was there Friday night, the ambiance was awesome very casual and fun to have drinks or small groups to hang out and dine. The server helped me pair my food with my glass of wine. I was rushing so I needed something fast, the server suggested a crudo. It was good but not my taste, sashimi with a citrus orange sauce not impressive and didn’t really like. However I will go back and visit to try other items in their menu.

Great place. «Hipsterish» vibe but not annoying. Octopus appetizer, great, a little charred which added great flavor. It was incredibly tender and easy to eat which I never experienced before. Wife had duck special which she loved. Must have Chocolate Crossaint bread budding. It takes 20 min so order when you are near finishing entrée. Service was excellent as well.

Came here the morning of our honeymoon. We were getting ready to head to our cruise and realized we had time to eat. We stumbled on Fooqs and decided to give it a try. We walked in and were greeted with passion and hospitality. The owner(I’m guessing he’s the owner) was interacting with all the guests and gushing over the food just as much as we all were. The waiters were on top of it all and it was the perfect kick off to our honeymoon. It’s becoming a tradition to head here after church on Sunday’s too. We can’t stop recommending this place to all our friends and family.

Just 72 hours after getting Home from Paris I wasn’t expecting much to impress me but FooQ’s delivered just that. We arrived at about 1p on a Saturday. The music was smooth reggae that was rocking my mood. The deco is über chic. Country meets mid century modern. The food was out of this world. Started off with a pitcher of the Rose sangria., refreshing to the max. My sexy date and I split and shared a breakfast burger, chicken and pancakes and an order of potato hash. The highlight for me was definitely the fried chicken and highly recommend it. The food was phenomenal but compliments very well by the ambiance and coziness of this amazing little spot in downtown Miami.

Loved this spot!!! Very unique menu, great flavors, fantastic music, fun crowd, and did I mention the food was fantastic!!! Had the bucatini and hamburger our first time there and they were both heavenly. Topped it off w the Persian sundae… OMG I’ve gone to heaven. Second time went for Sunday brunch and were pleasantly surprised by how diverse and creative the dishes were. It’s an up-and-coming neighborhood that I’ve grown up in and Fooqs is a breath of fresh air. Great food, fun vibes, and very creative Thanks for bringing something new to Miami!

Ambience: Chic Parisian décor Service: A+ Food: 5 stars(presentation + quality + taste) Came to this restaurant with a group of friends for Sunday Brunch. We were immediately seated on these super cute chairs with artsy pillows on them. Ordered the sangria pitcher — rose with fruit which was delicious. Definitely order: Fried Chicken with pancakes — cooked to a crispy/crunchy exterior and warm moist inside with warm maple syrup on top. Breakfast Burger: cooked exactly to medium temperature– perfect cooked egg on top with sautéed onions and a perfect brioche bun Croque Monsieur: thick slices of brioche with turkey, and cheese with béchamel sauce drizzled on top. DEFINITELYRECOMMENDED!

I can’t tell you enough good things about Fooq’s without wanting to succumb to the obvious puns on the name. But I’ll spare y’all. David Foulquier brings his Boulud-and-Manhattan-inspired flare to laid-back Miami. And it’s so welcome here. Right when you walk in, you immediately feel like you can start unwinding and relaxing. The space truly feels like home with its thoughtful whimsical and warm décor. David himself is quick with a smile, charming with his laid-back attitude. His and his staff’s enthusiasm for food is contagious. When asked what he would recommend, he makes the can’t-blame-him-for-it mistake of accidentally naming everything on the menu. But he’s right. Everything on the menu is spectacular, so how can you choose just one thing? So we didn’t. We were lucky to bring an entire entourage of 10 people. We tried almost everything on the starter menu. We all wanted to bathe in the crispy brussels sprouts. I mean, I know the brussels sprouts phase has been firmly in place for years, but these really are in my top three brussels sprout dishes of all time. The bucatini really is that good, so order it. It’s amazing how a dish can make you feel like it’s familiar enough to be homemade but fancy enough to feel, well, fancy. Yes, I did take a Lactaid for this. Somehow the lamb ribs came out last, which is apt because it was the star of the show. We ordered a full rack, and we should have ordered more. The tamarind glaze with pistachio was a home run. We may not have ordered dessert this time, but arguably something even sweeter happened. Don’t tell anyone else, but we *might* have broken out into a spontaneous dance-of with all the back-of-house staff after our meal. They even closed the blinds for us. I can’t wait to come back and have more, to have it all. And I can’t wait to see what David does next. P. S. — I got through it without my usual punning, but you can imagine what I would have said, right?

Came here for brunch on saturday… the area is not the best… but you will get to see some interesting characters especially if u seat outside. We asked ahead of time if there was a cork fee for bringing our own champagne bottle and yes… u can! just $ 35. So our waitress was very nice, she brought us orange juice for our mimosas and a bucket of ice to keep the bottle nice and cold. She suggested we tried the veggie omelet with two slices of bread(can’t remember the name of it) and a side of hash browns. omg! one of the best omelets I’ve had in awhile! def an overall good experience, don’t pay mind to the area… this place will compensate.

While in Miami for a long weekend, I looked for an interesting brunch spot. You know what I mean: you want something different, tasty and exotic. Thanks to Unilocal, while perusing the Nearby feature, something about Fooq’s caught my eye. After valet parking the rental at a nearby strip club(Like no big deal, right) we walked over to to Fooq’s. Plenty our charming al fresco seating, we opted for inside. Colorful and plush pillows line the bench seating and my eyes were fixed on the perfectly balanced wall adornments and fixtures. I like. I am presented with their menu and I like even more. Our server tells us of the daily special: Persian fried chicken over buttermilk pancakes with a fried egg on top. Oh yes, I like. I want one of those! And let’s get something healthy too: granola over yogurt. And let me wash it down with your jasmine tea. The food presentation is lovely. The china the coffee and tea is served in, is as lovely as the way this high class«chicken and waffles» were stacked. The spice batter of the fried chicken transports your taste buds and the exoticness makes your mouth happy. The tea was served in a teapot and for $ 4 I would order this jasmine tea everyday. If you’re new in town or local, please stop by and treat yourself. Apparently they have a Fooq’s sundae that looks amazing. I was lucky to sample their rose water ice cream(maybe it was gelato) and their saffron IC/g which was a dream come true in my mouth. Can I like, live here now? Yes indeed, I love this place! Check it out and tell me if you do too!

This is a tough one to rate, and I’m going to use a different format to see if it helps me arrive at an answer by the time I get to the end. I will say this much up front: if you like Michael’s Genuine, I think you will like Fooq’s, as they are cut from similar cloth(both prepare simple foods that don’t really impress me the way I expect from an expensive restaurant). Pro: on my September visit, they were participating in the«Miami Spice» promo where lunch was $ 23 for an app, main and dessert. Con: Only 2 choices in each course, and on my visit they were out of one of them(a chicken salad sandwich which would have been my choice — the other option was a garbanzo salad, which would have meant ordering a salad app, followed by another salad). Pro: They seem to periodically change their Spice menu, since the items offered differed from those posted on the Spice website( ). Con: Since they were out of one of the items, my only real choice was to substitute the hamburger which WAS posted on the website in the first place. Pro: Hamburger was very tasty: patty was great, pickles were sweet(though I prefer sour), it was cooked to order, and on a soft potato roll. Con: It’s a hamburger. It’s not an ideal dish to showcase kitchen skill, and it was served with potato chips(not fries, potato chips), and again, «that don’t impress me much». Pro: Starter was an arugula salad with goat cheese and pistachios — all good ingredients, but would have benefitted from much more goat cheese and much less greens. Con: So much vinaigrette that I nearly burned my lips off — yikes! Pro: Server tried to satisfy the dessert ‘obligation’ with a cookie, but I noted the menu’s mention of the day’s pie or cake. Con: No con — it was damn fine cake, though I was a little bursting at the seams to fully enjoy it at this point in the meal. Server couldn’t answer my question about the flavor/ingredients. Pro: there was ample street parking($ 1.50/hour) around the corner. Con: Hobos, hobos, everywhere. Orphan Pro: Vero filtered water was complementary(I hate paying for water). Orphan Con: The music was somehow not right. Looking at some other posts from fellow Unilocalers who I respect, I think I can’t really judge Fooq’s on the basis of what I ordered, but since everything I’ve written above was so evenly balanced, I find myself shooting for the center of the 5-star scale, and hence the 3. I won’t rush back for lunch, but would probably enjoy many of the dinner items(though it’s just as hard to impress me with a meatball as it is with a hamburger).

Seriously one of the best meals I’ve had lately! The restaurant is quite small so make a reservation — there was a(worthwhile!) wait the whole time we were there. Indoor seating provides a very rustic and romantic setting, but I can’t say the same about the outside, at least not at night(mosquitos, loiterers, traffic, etc). It didn’t take away from our experience though. From start to finish, the servers were attentive and über nice. We were a group of 4 trying the Spice menu, which had 2 options per section, so we shared everything. It was plenty of food, but we had to add the trio of jars served with Zak the Baker bread(that night was tuna, blue cheese & sundried tomato spreads). We also ordered a bottle of Vesevo Beneventano Aglianico since we hadn’t heard of that varietal before, and it was a perfectly smooth red to complement our dinner. I knew this meal would be epic when, instead of the typical bread, our waiter brought out tartines on the house, topped with(I think) fig, bacon & green bean. It was a great tease and intro to what was coming. The meatballs were cooked to tender perfection and came with bread to dip into that savory sauce. I loved the crispy Brussels sprouts with honey & Greek yogurt. For the entrée, we shared the Asian-marinated skirt steak(served with veggies and a crispy rice) and the pappardelle with fava and peas in a cream sauce — the contrast between flavorful meat and lighter, simple pasta was nice. And yes, the hype is true: I fell in love with the Persian sundae. So many flavors, textures and ingredients that you don’t know what to make of at first, but it just works, and so well. The PB& Banana was amazing too — classic and comforting, but not heavy. Can’t wait to return and try the rest of the menu!

So much yes! Pro tip 1: Make a reservation. A group of four of us stopped in on Tuesday night and by the time we left, every table was full. Word has gotten out about this downtown gem and the crowds prove it. Pro tip 2: Order the Persian sundae. I don’t care if you’re a chocolate person, a fruit person, or prefer pie, this is one surprising dessert that you must try at least once(but chances are you’ll want it again). To start, yes, the meatballs are great, but ask what’s featured in the daily trio of jars. We ordered both and I was so enamored by a smoked salmon spread from one of the jars that I almost didn’t save room for my main course. Almost. Before ordering entrees, our waitress rattled off a couple specials that sounded delicious, but I decided to try Fooq’s burger which was pretty darn good! The patty was a blend of short rib, brisket and skirt steak. It’s topped with Jarlsberg and a special sauce. I tried to stop after one half but simply couldn’t resist eating it all. The menu is very eclectic so I think you can find something no matter what kind of mood you’re in, which also makes it great for groups with different tastes. As for desserts, you’re already ordering the Persian sundae, but I can also attest to the deliciousness of the croissant bread pudding and Valrhona dark chocolate olive oil cremeaux. David, the owner, told us that’s one of his favorites and it’s so unassuming but definitely warrants a try if you’re a dark chocolate lover. The place is so welcoming and cozy on the inside. My hope is it stays this way for time to come! I’ll definitely be back soon.

I was going to meet some friends at Fooq’s for dinner and ended up dining solo after they changed plans. their loss! Located in the old Nemesis space, their terrace dining allowed me to check out the street scene, cool graffiti and retro buildings. My waitress Coco also gave me a nice narration of the redevelopment and happenings in the area. Of course, she’s just as knowledgeable on their dishes. The 2012 Davis & Bynum she recommended had great legs and served as a perfect chiller to the deliciously spicy Persian Peach Chicken I enjoyed. Served on a bed of sticky rice, this dish was a tasty fusion of flavors from the oil drizzle on the greens, the cool peach and pomegranate slices as well as the rich, spicy and subtly hot sauce and almonds on the sufficiently meaty chicken thighs. I didn’t mean to neglect the appetizers: the three meatballs were juicy and rich in the marinara sauce and cheese sprinkle. Like the amuse bouche with goat cheese, the meatballs were served with Zak the Baker bread. Of course I closed it out with their blueberry pie, a light crispy crust generously packed with warm blueberries and a cool gelato. A couple of things to note — as someone else mentioned, the meal costs a little more than an X for Y special at a big box chain restaurant but there’s an old adage about getting what you pay for. It’s located in the heart of the entertainment district and parking can be interesting but why not. Even as a solo diner, it was a reward for a productive week. It would be a great place to take an EDM loving date, since it’s walking distance to the monument to that music. It’s also close to the Performance Art Center if you like that stuff. Solo or with company, I plan to come back.

Pardon my French… Fooqing Amazing! Do know reservations are a must during the weekend. We initially tried to eat here the first time on a Friday at 6:30pm and we were unable because they were all booked up! The restaurant was empty so I kind of left a little disappointed… We then walked by an hour later and it was packed. So it left me extremely curious and I made a note to come back! I finally made it a few weeks later after making a reservation on the same day. We were a group of 5 and all enjoyed the experience. The ambience is very cool, hip, casual, non-pretentious. They have outdoor & indoor seating. We sat outsite and the night was beautiful. There were a few local homeless who walked by asking for money and we were shocked how the servers asked them to please leave to ensure they would not disturb us. The chef walked by our table asked us how we were and personally gave us the specialties of the evening and her recommendations. My fiancé actually thought she was the server which was embarrassing for a second since my fiancé mistakenly was like«Can I please order the…». Then again it’s not typical for the chef to walk around and greet people. We thought that was really cool! The Chef was super down to earth and her suggestions were amazing! Our server was excellent she had a great attitude and amazing personality! Since it was 5 of us we had two bottles of wine. We started with the meatballs and they were delish. I then had the Baked whole snapper stuffed with Herbs which was amazing and fresh. My fiancé had the burger which I had a bite of and it was superb! The dessert was also amazing. It was an amazing dinning experience over all. Great spot to go with some friends or take a date. We were extremely impressed with this place and would definitely return!!! Enjoy!

Last week, I was looking for a place for an impromptu date night and stumbled upon this hidden gem called Fooq’s. Fooq’s is as homey as you can get. If your home is a perfectly designed Southwestern living room, that is. But it’s cozy. And it’s warm. And its people are the friendliest you’ll probably find in a Miami restaurant. The thing that makes this place special is that it’s welcoming, and upon chatting(and doing a little digging) with owner David Foulquier, I understood why. The concept of the restaurant(and the name) is inspired by the owner’s family home growing up, a place(nicknamed Fooq’s) known for many as a meeting place for nice meals and long conversations. And this very concept was somehow magically incorporated into the restaurant. But enough about the décor, the ambiance and the vibe. Let’s talk about the food! The owner defines it as international comfort food, a description that I couldn’t agree more with. Take the bucatini for example, made perfectly al dente with amatriciana sauce and sicilian chile flakes. On your first bite, you can already tell this is a dish that was made with love, a family recipe that was probably mastered and perfected throughout the years and passed down like gold from generation to generation… or um, at least that’s what it tasted like to me! ;) As for dessert, the Persian Sundae is an absolute must. This beautifully presented sweet dish consists of the unusual combination of rosewater and saffron gelato, which is made by a Midtown’s Latteria Italiana. I had never had such a thing in my life, and let me tell you, I’m hooked. Whether you are looking to have a cozy romantic dinner date, or to enjoy one of those nice, long dinners with friends over wine and conversation, you have to put Fooq’s on your list. I am sure you will love it as well!
