Lo unico ue tengo pa decir es que no deben Cobrar el agua del grifo a Los Clientes porque es desagradable, el dueño es muy amable

I tango’d with gin and fell into a wormhole of chains, goth pop and a sorry-not-sorry sad light show. I’m in love. The venue, space, dance floor and location all provide that edge of cool and hip, a potential still untapped. A potential noticed, but imperfect. I liken Eros to Cinderella and her ugly step sisters. Eros being Cinderella. If you walk up the road you have Jamboree, Hepatitis-c anyone? A cruising bar, black as butthole where anything goes. Also nearby you have Magnum, the bad girl gone good, a piano affair with an intimate shack of a bar and great drink specials but a mostly mummified clientele. And then you’ve got Eros, she’s got the edge, the façade but doesn’t quite have it’s identity nailed in the secure fashions it’s competitors have. And it’s scary because I’d hate to see this space close shop. Especially since, in my eyes, it’s got the potential to be the Electric Pickle of the Upper East Side. I plan to host a bday here. I’m that impressed with the layout and staff. Drinks are a tad pricy for the area, but then I can’t even remember purchasing a call drink for $ 6 so I suppose $ 9-$ 10 whatever they charge is… reasonable? It’s gay, but I wouldn’t call it a gay bar. It’s accessible. Maybe that’s it’s purpose. Personally speaking, with Twist, Score and Palace serving the Molly-whopped, cut-off shirt/circuit crowd that time clearly forgot, I think if the owner of Eros dabbled instead with strictly indie-focused Djs where dancing and drinking were the focus, this place would be the sure shot sell of anyone who is anyone. A hipster haven of sorts. I call it: kaleidoscope.

I need to go back to see how it deals out its energy with a crowd but it’s certainly a step up from the sleazy little Boy Bar that used to be the only faggoty outpost in my neck of the woods — this is more than kinda a step up. I liked the restroom(is it OK to like restrooms in gay bars and admit it — I mean we all know what goes on in there) for the cleanliness and the décor; it’s like someone just shit vintage Donna Summer all over the place — Love to Love Ya Baby!

This is my neighborhood watering hole. I love this place. It’s not the clientele because that can range from very friendly to outright snobby clones. The staff knows you by name and know how to mix good drinks. The videos range from 80’s music, to contemporary Latin music to an occasional episode of the Lucy Show(?). Bingo on Tuesday. Karioke on Wed. Not much of a selection of food but very tasty. The owner’s mom makes the Greek style meatballs and the hummus.

Visited on Thursday evening after seeing their ad for Latin night with complementary drinks from 10−11PM. Arrived at 10:30 and ordered a rum and coke. The bartender told me $ 8 and rather than argue that drinks should be free I gave him a twenty. He gave me nine dollars in change. When I noticed that, I called him back over and said it was $ 8 right? He said that management had raised the price to $ 9 and hadn’t told him. I said well you charged me $ 11 and showed him my change. He did give me three dollars back but it should have been free. The ad also says after 11 Cuba libres are only $ 6. I’m not staying or coming back. I gave them a second star since I am using their free WiFi to write this review.

Well, I went on a night when it was pretty slow — like a Monday or a Tuesday. However that’s normal for such a night anywhere in that area and considering it’s not a restaurant. But I’m leaving one star out until I get to experience it fully. This is a gay bar, quite close to Miami Beach if you’re driving and if you want to escape the Beach madness for a bit. The décor is very industrial/modern. The bar area is huge. There’s a stage, presumably for live music? special DJs? drag shows?(I dunno) and there’s also a pool table. Plenty of parking behind the building, which is by the way, in a corner.

I love Eros, I knew it from the first moment I saw the buildings transition and was eagerly anticipating the opening. Peter(owner) really is an amazing guy, he has always made me feel welcomed from the moment I walk in. Drinks and service are always on point. Come out and support this fantastic neighborhood gay bar!
