When I was diagnosed with Epilepsy I had no health insurance and didn’t know what to do. I suffered financially and emotionally because medicine cost over $ 300 per month and I wanted a great doctor to treat me. Late in the game I heard about the Epilepsy Foundation of South Florida. They offered me case management, financial and medical support with the top neurologists in Florida, neuropsychological access, welcomed me to support groups, and cared about educating my family and friends about prevention and care. They gave me the support my family and I needed for a long time and empowered me to succeed. I now have a great job with benefits and support the foundation every chance I get. I wish to do more and am excited that I can spread the word here. Pay one of their centers a visit if you live with a seizure disorder. Whether it’s a simple support group or serious financial service that you need, it’s great to start building a relationship. Also, attend their annual Walk for Epilepsy. In 2010, it’s April 18th at Tropical Park. Walk for those you know, love or have lost to epilepsy and bring your friends and donations.
