This place is amazing! The amount of food they serve is more than plenty for a grown man with a big appetite! Sunday is one of the best days. The energy is high, the music is good, and the food is delicious. If you want to try something authentic, this is the place! Oh, and get the oxtail or the fried red snapper! It’s the BEST!

Went on Sunday and it was a cool place. You always got people dancing from 9pm-2am on a Sunday.

Love the food, hate the service. For the most part I eat lunch here, either with my daughter or friends. The food takes 15 – 20 minutes to come, the«waitresses» have an horrible attitude and anytime I take my daughter I have to grab my OWN high chair. The food is really well seasoned which is important in Latin American cuisine & the menu options are well priced(don’t go when it’s busy, they’ll charge you extra items and act like its nothing and when you ask for a manager DAGGERS!). The only reason I go there, as a last resort, the food. Oh did I say the waitresses are horrible? They’re a sorry excuse for a waiter. I always have to get up and take them my check so I can leave(when the restaurant is EMPTY!) And when it’s busy.pshhhh. Might as well die waiting for a waitress to look at you. I used to love coming here on Sunday nights, but for a nice lunch during the day it just sucks!!!

Our first night in Miami was there and it was great! I grew up with Bachata, Merengue, and Tipico so I love to dance. This was the perfect place for it. I didn’t get any cocktail drinks so I can’t judge that but the people who worked there are nice. I wore a club dress with high heels and kind of regretted it because 90% of the crowd were in jeans. I wish I would’ve been more comfortable and dressed a bit above casual. The DJ’s played everything from every country and we danced it all. The crowd was great, really friendly people. I would very much go there again! TIP! Sundays are the best days! If you want to have a great time, go on a Sunday!

I love bachata and salsa and this is why I was brought into this place. I was visiting Miami from Los Angeles and I was looking up on Unilocal what some local spots were good. We showed up fairly late for food(around 10 pm) but the kitchen was still open, thankfully since we were starving. Pros The good is the food is great. The environment was great inside the restaurant. At very reasonable prices. The music felt like I was back at a club in the Dominican Republic which is exactly what we wanted. It is a family restaurant but they have a time where they kick out all the younger kids and check ID’s. Cons At first walking in we were not aware that men had to pay a cover $ 10. Women were free. It was free seating which was a little difficult since it looked like most of the tables were taken and you didn’t know which was empty and which had people on the dance floor. The table we did find had a leaking AC unit next to it so the table directly under it was also empty. The waitress’ were not the friendliest being that it looked like a packed night so they were probably tired by that point. Overall We kept hearing it wasn’t in the best neighborhood and what brought us to a local’s spot. Not rude just intrigued, but we didn’t feel unsafe at all. We just walked right in and got an über ride right back. I would definitely recommend this spot and go again myself

I was positively surprised about the place. Delicious domenican food for resonable prices and a big dancefloor with a lot of bachata, merengue and salsa. The place works as a restaurant Monday to Thursday, Friday-Sunday there is dancing too. They have live music on Sundays. The best thing I like about the place: there are no crowds of drunk turists like in Mango’s in SoBe and people here really know how to dance.

As a hispanisized gringo, I appreciate many parts of Latin culture, but I also know that my own stereotypes hold me back. I had listened to many advertisements on the radio for Tipico, but I always assumed the club was not for me or that I would not be welcome. All I really needed was for someone to introduce me to the space and give me permission to to in, which is exactly what happened. I went to Tipico at the behest of a friend who, after sharing many libations with me, insisted my friends and I go because it was Sunday, «family night,» and we would all have a great time. With the help of Corona, I went, and quickly found that Tipico(at least on Sundays) is really a family place where people can dance and just have a great time. For my part, I danced for hours along side people of different dance skill levels and kids of varying ages. All this made me feel very comfortable, and my friends and I had a blast. In addition to the wonderful atmosphere, the drinks are very cheap for Miami. I know that individual beers were about $ 4, and buckets were a deal. My entire party had a wonderful time and some great stories to tell the next morning, which is always a testament to a great establishment. All I can say is that if you want a night of great dancing without the typical libidinous people of Miami, this is a wonderful place on a Sunday night.

El Tipico is a restaurant, that turns into a Dominican Dance club later at night. the club does not get going till at least 1130pm. the food is fantastic. we had creole goat and oxtail, and the beans were very good. there are so many things on the menu that we want to try. there is always bachata, salsa and meringue playing and add a couple Presidente beers, what you have is a winner. they also have security.

We have been coming here for the past 10 years and unfortunately we will not be going any longer. We order to go and they are putting less and less food in their containers for higher prices, their service is also dwindling. We ordered to go last week and the wife of the owner was extremely rude, asking if we were sure that is what we wanted because we have called twice already and were getting annoying. We buy were our money is appreciated. We have found another dominican restaurant to go to. If they keep this up, they are going to lose a lot of business. What a shame.

I’m Dominican and my wife is Honduran. We were in Miami visting family and I had a craving for some of my mom’s cooking. This place is a typical Dominican style dance club /bar /restaurant like they have in DR and New York. I ordered some rabo guisado, white rice, red beans, tostones and chicharron de pollo to go and a cold Presidente while I waited at the bar. The staff was friendly, the beer cold, and best of all the food was great. Everything was fresh and not too greasy. The portions could have been bigger but they weren’t too small. Needless to say, everybody was licking their fingers! Final result: «Ta heavy duty!!!»

Tipico Dominicano is a place that I drove by about 1000 times and had NO idea that they served food until just last week! I have seen it totally packed late nights on weekends with their club scene, but during the week, while driving by the front it always look closed. So it was to my pleasant surprise to find that they serve up lunch for the low-low during the day. That said, this review is just for the food during the day, not the hoppin’ club scene at nights. I went to lunch with my usual co-worker lunch crew. There are daily specials every weekday… And not just one or two options, but seriously about 6 – 8 lunch specials for the day. This is how they are able to get you in and out for lunch in a reasonable, with an insane amount of food in your belly. Half of our crew opted for the Chivo(goat stew)(it was amazing), one beef stew and one freid pork dish. They all came out with a quickness all four plates were pretty much cleared in no time. My friend ordered a side of Mangú and I have no idea where the Mangú has been my whole life, but I am in love! Overall a great spot to get down for some super affordale and yummy Dominican comidas.

Is in the type of neighborhood where people will ask you for money when you get out of the club or because they watched your car. Very small dance floor, and it kinda sucks when your trying to dance but are bumping into everybody. The music wasnt good in my opinion. And the lighting in there reminded me of the red light district, was very dead in there too. I went on the night of the pacqueo marquez fight so theres reason, but still! Not everyone who watches Boxing is a dancer. there should have been more dancers, more life in general in the place on a saturday night. The best thing had to have been the food I ordered but I kinda got the idea that it was precooked, it was serve to me in under 5 minutes after ordering it. Dont get me wrong it was tasty and filling but it kinda gives me the heeby skeebies. why was it already cooked? Pricing is a lilo more than normal. 4.50 for a corona 8 for a shot and 10 for a meal. The DJ was the most disatisfying thing though. Bad bad music. But it might be better another day. Ive heard good things aside from my review.

DOMINICANASOY!!! If you want to experience Dominican Republic without having to FLY, then DRIVE your ass to El Tipico because once you eat the DELICIOUS food and chug a few cold PRESIDENTES while your ears are being graced by the BEAUTIFUL sounds of Latin music, you will actually feel(at least for a minute) like you’re in Santo Domingo!!! NO this restaurant/club is NOT fancy BUT the simplicity and size of it is what makes it SO great. It feels homey. People like me who have been going there for over 15 years LOVE the fact that they haven’t glammed it up or expanded it. For us, its like the Latin version of Cheers. Sundays are Tipico’s BEST days. Late noon — 10pm is for the future clubbers. Families religiously dine here and enjoy the beer specials(til 8pm) while their kids show off their moves on the dance floor. Once security has made sure everyone under 18 is out of the building, the lights go out and«its a PARTY… its a PARTY»!!! Anything from LIVE performances, surprise appearances, and dance contests MAY happen BUT a PACKED house and a good time is ALWAYS to be expected. People BURN up the dance floor and walkways while the DJ spins the BEST of Latin music and(every now and then) throws in a few of the latest Hip-Hop, Reggae, and Pop tunes. VIVATIPICODOMINICANO!!!
