The apéritif that they give you is absolutely out of this world. It is some type of deep fried breaded amazingness. The first time I came here I tried the Peking duck and it was stunning. The duck was incredibly tasty and the platter was honestly the best that I have ever tried in Miami. The second time I tried the 35 dollar chefs sampler and was a bit disappointed as everything was deep fried and honestly not that great at all. My own fault mostly for not reading the menu. The service has always been excellent. I will be coming back for sure, and hopefully uping my 4 start to a 5.

We had an unforgettable night in the company of Chef Richard and his innovative food. We loved and enjoy every dish even if we couldn’t finish to eat all of them(enormous portion). It was nice being in a restaurant where the staff is helpful and patient explaining and answering all our questions and given us the time to understand the menu. A restaurant where one can forget the house(is one of the few restauranes where thankfully no TV) and having enough time to discover and enjoy each dish, the music is no typical for a dinner but very convenient for a vibrant food full of flavor and unexpected combinations. The Staff recommend us to accompanied the various dishes with cocktails, that was new to us, normally always combine with wine and it was the right choice. The freshness of the cocktails go very well with the richness of the food. Great food, rich in taste and flavours, try everything, you will not go home disappointed or hungry . Thanks Richard and all the staff at Black brick for a great dinner and night!

Greatly disappointed!!! On their web page it says affordable, but that’s not the case however. It was way over priced!!!$$$$$ We ordered a bunch of dishes to try. The portion was very small for $ 9-$ 15. Where as you can get the same portion from other dumpling places for half the price. Our bill was almost $ 100 for the 2 of us for lunch and we didn’t even feel full!!! And we’re not a drinker. Some of the steam dumpling seemed like it was frozen not fresh made. Also ordered the short ribs with black beans sauce, it was horrible because all we got was a bunch of small piece of bone with fat on it. The rest of the good was ok. Not going back there again!!!

Very disappointed with the service that this restaurant has to offer. Was calling for information and was hung up on. The second time, I was placed on a very long hold. The menu provides many opportunities for moments and experiences. Even though with the«best food,» you will not be considered worthy at all if the service is not available… Very sad. P.S They never responded to me, as I was on hold. Then was hung up on…

We got the beef noodle dish and the Kung pao tofu. Along with the spicy cauliflower and martinis, this was a great meal! The service ruined it by kicking us out at 10 pm on a Sunday(we had a 930 reservation) we wanted dessert and weren’t offered any and just given the check. When asked about dessert the waitress didn’t budge and recited unwillingly a few off the top of her head. Given that we paid over $ 100 for this meal, this last act from the service ruined our experience. Unfortunate though since up until that point we were big fans.

Absolutely terrible service! Will never come here again. Food is ridiculously over priced. Dim sum is mediocre. You get 3 pieces at $ 12 a serving. Waiter never came by for water service, to explain why food was taking so long(45 minutes or more for first course), or to ask if we needed anything. He didn’t hesitate to bring the bill and didn’t even say thank you or have a good night. The food is decent and extremely over priced. I would never recommend this place.

I like this place as I LOVE Asking Asian food. It has a nice atmosphere and good tea, great start! I ordered the Orange Peel Angus, it was heavily breaded, fried and absolutely soaked with oil and wasn’t tender. Would not order again, that said I have enjoyed the other food. It’s not cheap and not as good as Hong Kong. Where a huge bowl of noodles is twice as large, half as expensive. and better. Will still come back when I want to enjoy some of the better noodle and dim sum dishes.

Service was good at first, then very slow getting our check and food was good. Found it to be overpriced, the portions were NOT enough to fill me(we ordered from the family platter menu plus a appetizer). The menus don’t explain what each dish is.

Came with a party of 8 on Friday night and we were seated right away. I had the rock shrimp fried rice which was amazing and a huge portion. Tried pretty much everything that the rest of my party got and it was great. The only person that was disappointed was my roommate due to the fact she was allergic to the majority of the dim sum bc they make all of it fresh with shrimp. Overall everyone was please and I’ll definitely be going back!

I really enjoyed the food at this place. Nice modern take on Chinese food with all the right flavors. We tried the shrimp-chive dumpling from the dim-sum and it was very fresh. Also had the numbing and hot pork spare ribs, I really loved these, i thought they would be spicier because of the name but it had just the right amount of heat. The Chinese fried chicken we shared was perfect!, extra crispy and with a wonderful garlic-ginger oil sauce, we had that with ginger baby bok choy(it was fantastic). Overall i was very pleased with what we ordered, the place also has a very nice vibe, seemed relaxed and family friendly; the service was excellent, and the décor is really cool(check out the velvet skull wallpaper in the restroom! lol) I would definitely come back, i would like to sample more dim sum items, as well as their brunch special.

We ate at ghee community table in this little step mall Asian bistro. The menu has many inventive creations. The vegetable egg roll is the best egg roll I have ever had. The Chinese fried chicken is outstanding. The fun noodles with chicken was extremely spicy. The barbecue beef was toothsome with a delicious sauce. You have an option of brown and white rice. The waitress was knowledgable and patient when we grilled her about the food preparation. She was attentive and friendly.

Like a 4. 5! Okay now I have to say that we are quite picky because we had a good share of decent Asian food from New York, especially since we lived right near flushing for the last 4 years, prior to moving here. But we LOVE blackbrick. I was really sad that I couldn’t find any good asian cuisine here, then I was intro’d to this place and loved it! They bring out fried crispy snack that is salty and seasoned and yummy on the house We had a drink with tequila, thai chili and a fruit juice that was reminescent of a drink we tried in Thailand. It was zesty but sweet, loved it! We asked for everything super spicy Spicy chili wings– These are awesome. Huge pieces of meat that come out crispy and saucy with peppers and onions and chillis, and a very large portion, schezuan type flavor. Pork cheek dumplings– Large oversized dumplings filled with flavored ground pork meat then pan fried, with a nice soy-sauce based sauce at the bottom, really flavorful Mapo tofu– Loved the tofu with the pork in this spicy sauce, tofu very soft and tender Mala chicken– Thick wide noodles with chicken very tasty, different kind of taste Dan Dan Noodles– Pork with noodles and creamy slightly sweet peanut sauce Lobster Cantonese– Very large portion, three tails, cooked well, but probably my least favorite dish because I am not a fan of cantonese style in general, and not a huge fan of okra that came with it Bourbon trifle– light very airy, and very tasty, with a southern comfort taste. We will definitely come here again, and again, when we have the calories to spare! Maybe tonight? Only reason I cannot give this a 5 is because in comparison to asian food in new york, otherwise it would be a 5 if comparing only other asian places locally around brickell and midtown specifically.

If it wasnt for the disrespectful service, this place would get 5 stars, The service is terrible!!! We ordered appetizers and they came with the checks! The manager, Floreatino was our server and was extremely condescending and rude to us after we complained that our meals took over an hour to get and we asked for cokes 3 times, the other servers sucked! They brought us plates that weren’t even ours and when we would ask about our meals they would walk away. As we were talking to go to another table! matter of fact, one of their bus boys, Derrick was helping us and getting us drinks and was more attentive then our waiter who was the RESTAURANTMANAGER, and the bus boy got in trouble for assisting us. After a verbal joust with the manager who called himself the best server at the restaurant we were over it and disgusted and finally asked for our checks that took another 20 minutes to get. If you want good food, and don’t mind waiting almost 2 hours for it, and being disrespected this is definitely the place for you.

This place has potential to fill in a much needed dim sum spot in Midtown. It’s by no means authentic Chinese(for that, your better bet is Tropical Chinese or South Garden), but for Asian-fusion lovers, this place is worth a visit. Come in a group and share all the dishes. The flavor profiles are heavily reminiscent of those at Sakaya Kitchen(also in Midtown), so it wasn’t surprising when I discovered that they’re run by the same people. Overall, my feelings about this place is similar to how I feel about Sakaya Kitchen: too much sauce and oil drowning out the stars of the dish. Items we tried: Jade Peking duck dumpling(3 per order, on the drier side and didn’t hold up its shape) Crispy tofu shrimp(tofu was overly crispy, but shrimp was nice and tender) Spicy mala chicken with flat noodles(sizable portion, great for sharing, and very spicy!) Pork brisket bao(off the brunch menu, great for sharing) I was impressed by the pork brisket bao, the pork was full of flavor(and not too salty) with just enough fat in the meat to keep things juicy. The«bao» was the kind they use for Peking duck, where you serve yourself the meat and fillings into the bao, rather than having everything already stuffed inside the dough. I was also impressed with the quality of their wheat flat noodles; they tasted very fresh and had good consistency. I have to say, I appreciate Blackbrick for putting«mala» on the menu; it’s the first time I’ve seen it on a fusion restaurant menu. The«mala» flavor profile originates from Sichuan province in China. It’s a very unique flavor(numbing and spicy all at once) achieved from Sichuan peppercorns. Unfortunately, Blackbrick’s «mala» errs solely on the spicy side and doesn’t accurately capture the essence of the flavor. Perhaps my absolute favorite thing about here was the complementary dish of chili oil dipping sauce they bring you(along with the soy sauce). It has just enough spiciness to complement the duck dumpling and shrimp tofu. I would totally buy a bottle of it for home if they sold it.

I don’t know what happened here, but the lunch deal has been whittled down to nothingness, and is still a secret? The idea of rotating menu items into a $ 15 lunch with a token salad and a nice bowl of ice cream was an amazing idea — why screw with it? Prices generally don’t make BB compelling any more: the $ 12 Dan Dan noodles now $ 16?! Very sorry to lose this as a midtown lunch option, and given how empty it was today, I’m not alone.

This place is incredible. Team is friendly, though not 5 star service, however in the end that’s okay cause the grub sure is. The kitchen style reminded me of the ever popular San Francisco staple: THESLANTEDDOOR and I’m so happy to have something comparable right here at home. We ordered: Spicy chicken mala noodle(wonderful) Egg Roll(perfect) Stir fry green beans(make sure to let cool down at first, best with extra spicy chili oil) Lamb dumplings(best meat dumplings I’ve had) A nice selection of the dim sum. All in all, I can’t wait to return!!!

Nice Chinese restaurant for dim sum lovers. Located in Midtown this place has a varied menu including dumplings, buns, bao, small, medium and family size sharing plates. We arrived on a Friday night with reservations and were promptly seated. Then we ordered a couple of drinks, mine was the Thai Bomber which had tequila, hot pepper and passion fruit. It wasn’t as spicy as it sounds and tasted good. For dinner we ordered the eggplant with hoisin sauce, shrimp & chives dumplings, dandan noodles and a couple more of small plates which were good. We were seated close to the cooking area and the temperature was a little warm for my taste. Overall the food and service were good and plan to return to try more things.

I really love this place. I normally go through a list of all the items I have eaten at the restaurant and provide recommendations and ratings. However, the menu here refreshes consistently — so that some of the dishes I have had and loved no longer exist. The ever changing menu for their large plates is one of the traits I love about the restaurant. Blackbrick isn’t afraid to try new things, even if a previous item did well. And no matter what I’ve had, I’ve never been disappointed. I normally do not enjoy asian fusion, but this restaurant makes each dish interesting and new yet very nostalgic to the original plate. There are a couple of items that are solid staples here and thankfully have not been removed off the menu(yet). Fried chicken and garlic dumplings are a must! Chinese BBQ pork spare ribs are also a must! Shrimp and vegetable egg rolls are pretty much your basic egg rolls. They are good and the pumpkin dipping sauce is nice … But overall I would save the calories and money for another dish. I see they have added roti now … Must. Go. Try.

Finding ourselves in Miami doesn’t happen to very often so on this trip we started thinking Dim Sum for lunch! I’ve had Black Brick bookmarked for quiet awhile since we love trying new Dim Sum places. Their location is mixed into the restaurants by the Cheese Course on 1st Ave and if you get lucky you can get a metered parking spot nearby on the street. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon while their brunch was still being served(11:30−3pm) which the menu consist of Chinese-America Brunch Specials and a Dim Sum List. We chose our seat outside on their patio which is quite long on the sidewalk with lots of tables. Our server was prompt in greeting and bringing us waters. We also ordered beer one being draft and one a bottle; both priced at $ 7 each. Compared to other Dim Sum menus this place has some unique items and combinations. They complementary bring out their«Fake Cracklins» that are made in house, our server explained exactly what these were but I forgot. Some kind of dough fried and sprinkled with chili powder. They were pretty good maybe a bit greasy but inventive! Our selections from the Dim Sum menu started off with the Kurobuta Pork, Peanut, and Salted Egg Yolk Sticky Rice! It came out steaming hot and all wrapped up! The exposed rice was full of pork, steamed peanuts, and seasonings. It was really good and even better with their chili oil! Next, out came: Jade Duck Dumplings Char Siu Bao(BBQ Pork Buns) Xiao Long Bao Pork & Crab Soup Dumplings Warm Vanilla Custard Boa Buns All of them were good except for the Xiao Long Bao. They were completely dry with no «soup» and pretty tasteless. The Jade Duck Dumplings were light and soft with a meatball like duck ball inside. The order of Steamed BBQ Pork Buns were very good and flavorful with the outside being sticky and squishy! Then to conclude, those Warm Vanilla Custard Buns! They were v.e.r.y vanilla custard buns and more like a dessert but really fresh and delicious! Our experience was going well until the end of our meal. We were finished eating so our server came over and took our dishes away but then never returned. Rain clouds by this time were overhead and it started to drizzle. We figured our server would be out anytime with our bill but she never came. I had to get up and go inside to ask another server for our bill. She quickly gave me my bill and told me to look over it to make sure everything was correct, as it was. I was although quite shocked by the total bill cost. As mentioned earlier I guess maybe we aren’t used to Miami prices as our Dim Sum lunch cost us $ 70+. The portions were smaller than other places we have been and cost about double. So was the food that great compared to places out west we go to for a fraction of the cost. No. For a Dim Sum restaurant to charge these kind of prices and have the portions as small as they are; I would expect amazing food. Yes this was good but as the service disappeared the last 30 mins of our visit that did not give us a very good feeling leaving and as to return.
