Food is tasty but we were surrounded by flies and bugs the entire dinner, making it very unpleasant. The flies landed on the forks and knives on the empty table next to us. Later 2 customers were seated there. The waiter didn’t bother to change the setting. Surprised this restaurant averaged 4.5 stars after 234 reviews, do others not see anything when they were there.

I don’t think I have ever had food like this. It is some of the best tasting beef and chicken curry I have tried. The flavors are not overpowering and the chili sauces have great flavors. It is easily the best lumpia I have eaten anywhere.

One of the few Indonesian restaurants in Miami. Came here to try out the Laksa noodles and was quite pleased with how delicious they were. Service is fast and efficient. The atmosphere interior is quirky and calming with lots of Indonesian statue decorations. Payment is cash only, so be sure to hit up an ATM before visiting.

There is no minus stars I could choose!!! My friend and I just left this dirty and very unpleasant restaurant! We sat in corner the waiter left us alone for a while, suddenly there was a hug cockroach appeared on my shoulder, passed the over and was about jumping to my friend. The waiter came out to kill the roach by our napkin on the table! We asked for changed the table he suddenly said I was not the owner. Without any apology, he left!!! I felt super gross and decided to leave, he was super indifferent and said ok, just go!!! This is such an irresponsible employee if you are hired!!! With this such an arrogant attitude I would suggest you had better being a boss at your sweet clean home!!! It does not deserve a trip advisor recommendation!!!

BIGCOCKROACH running over you! I have been here couple times before and have always loved their food. However today was a total disappointment. I took my friend there and was so happy to introduce her one of the very few Indonesian restaurants in Miami. After waiting 15 minutes, we got tired of waiting and we called the waiter to take our orders. Not sure why he was ignoring us; we thought it was because we were setting in a corner. Then while we were waiting for our beers, I noticed a huge cockroach walking over my friend’s shirt. We screamed and the waiter came over, caught the cockroach and left. He never apologized or said anything. By this time, of course we lost our appetite and we would not eat there even if it were for free. I am highly disappointed and not coming back for sure

Unfortunate that Asian cuisine is so limited here in Miami that majority of Asian restaurants are«fusionized» meaning they offer multiple Asian cuisines. Although their focus is Indonesian, they also offer Japanese food. Indonesian and Japanese are never mixed together. Been to Indonesia multiple times and love traditional Indonesian food. Gado gado is my absolute favorite dish– and it was completely butchered. Portion sizes are good, and it is flavorful– but I find it somewhat off. Will keep coming here due to convenience, and lack of other options.

Love this place! Cash only so bring money! Had my favorite curry dish today — Lontong Cap Go Meh! It comes with both chicken and beef so you get the best of both worlds! The shrimp chips are also phenomenal! Delicious! My friend ordered the shrimp tempura roll. It was huge! Definitely enough for lunch! She said it was delicious! Our other friend had the Satay Ayam and the shrimp siumai. Good portions and I think he enjoyed them both. Now I can’t wait to go back to try some sushi.

I had walked by this place a few times and didn’t even notice it, but after I saw the reviews, I had to try it. I went in the late afternoon on a Saturday, and it wasn’t too crowded, so service was very speedy. I got the nasi goring spesial which is the bento box looking dish. Everything in it was so delicious and flavorful. Each part of the dish was so different from anything I had eaten before. I was only able to eat half, so I had some great leftovers for dinner. I had never had Indonesian food before, and this was such a great experience that I can’t wait to come back soon. Cash only, btw!

How did I miss Bali Café for so long? Needing a spot to grab dinner before a show at the AAA, this came up in a Unilocal search and decided to try it out. A couple notes: 1) CASHONLY. It’s plastered across all the windows so there’s really no way to miss it. This is just a reminder. 2) No alcohol. Not saying you need to drink to have a good time but, ya know, just don’t expect to find wine/beer here. I had some jasmine green tea. 3) You’re in the heart of downtown so parking may be difficult to come by. There are a couple of city garages nearby where you can find affordable parking. Now, for the FOOD! Since it was our first time, my friend and I split the rijsttafel which was an amazing deal for about $ 20 each. To start, we each got a miso soup, lumpia which is kind of like an egg roll, shrimp shumai and salad. Now, this salad wasn’t just any ol’ salad. It was packed with lettuce, oranges, cheese, sesame seeds, cucumber, beets and some more fun things. We could barely finish it and we knew the main course was coming… Must be careful! The main consists of five servings of specialities: rendang, sambal goreng teri kacang, opor ayam, capcai, ikan goreng pesmol. In plain words? Fish in curry, chicken in curry, steamed vegetables, peanut salad, and my favorite which was the beef stewed in excellent spices. We also got some steamed rice on the side. I seriously loved it ALL. We couldn’t finish it all and took it to go. I believe the price includes dessert but we had to run to the show so skipped out on that part. All in all, the service was friendly and fast, mainly coming from the owner. I let him know it was our first time there and he seemed genuinely excited. Would definitely come back! The price, quality and quantity for downtown is truly unparalleled.

A great hole in the wall restaurant in downtown Miami. It is very homey and intimate. Customer service and cleanliness of the bathroom could be a bit better but the food was so on point. We tried the Rijsttafel which comes with a bit of many plates wirth rice and dessert. It’s a perfect choice for a first timer to enjoy!

This place is a little hole in the wall, and it doesn’t look at all special, but boy was it DELICIOUS! As soon as we got home we were looking up recipes to try and recreate the flavors on our own. I will definitely come back here if I’m ever in Miami again. Be warned, it’s CASHONLY.

We came too restaurant early and it seems that they opened with the smell of chemical chlorine. This smell lasted the whole time we were there. 30 minutes. The host was friendly but stiff. Japanese salad was the only good thing. Shrimp shui Mai was defrosted and soggy Egg roll soggy Beef was overly salty and dry Chicken curry was dry Cook vegetable was okay Curry fish was good Shrimp chips was old and stale. Meatball soup. The Meatball can bounce like a ball. I would not recommend this place unless you work in the area and have no other choices. Water was good I hate leaving food on my plate but I left about 65% on it cause it was not great. Oh last thing… I don’t know how they got all 200+ reviews but my four friends and I ran out of there as soon as we can.

Let me set the record straight about my rating. The only reason Bali is getting such a low rating is because this is a cash only restaurant… I find a «cash only» business an inconvenience and extremely annoying nowadays. Other than that this a strong 4 stars business. It is located in the heart of Miami and the food quality is pretty good. I had the tuna California roll and the Miami heat roll. Both rolls were delicious and full filling. Just keep in mind it is a small location so you might wait for table on busy times. At last, the service was fast and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this place but remember to bring cash(there are not many ATMs close around)

Hidden gem. Hole in the wall. I’ve never used those terms before, but I guess those terms can be used to describe Bali Café. I’ve eaten here twice and it really feels like you’re eating cuisine from a different country. I had the laksa and enjoyed it so much I ordered it a second time, although it was much more flavorful on the first visit. I had a bite of the rendang sapi, which was different than typical meat and rice dishes. The lumpia is tasty. I really like the presentation of the dishes. The décor(masks, wall art, tapestry) and music give the place a nice ambiance. The restaurant is relatively small, but there’s a decent amount of tables and a few seats at the bar. There are 2 interesting booths on the sides of the entrance; I declined sitting there the first time, but said a-ok the second visit. The server(maybe also the owner?) is polite. I’ve eaten here weekday nights and there were plenty of seats to choose from. Park on the street or a nearby lot. Luckily I only have to walk a block or two to get here. Will definitely return if I’m craving exotic food or don’t want to cook. CASH O N L Y ! ! ! Very reasonably priced menu. Around $ 40(incl. tip) for 2 dishes and appetizer. Food comes out in a timely manner.

Hands down one of Miami’s best spots. The pan fried grouper– half chili sauce and half yellow coconut sauce– is the way to go. The side salad is incredible! I’ve been here twice in one week. Only downside is it is cash only, but several ATMs around the corner.

Really great Balinese and Indonesian cuisine in the middle of Downtown Miami. I love the intimate setting created by the smaller sized restaurant. However, this can be a little challenging with bigger groups. I believe they take reservations for such instances, but can’t be 100% sure. Just make sure everyone brings cash. The food is incredible. From the Nasi Goreng to the Beef Rendang, the Laksa, as well as the seafood items on the menu, the dishes are created with authentic spices from the region, creating mouthwatering flavours, that will keep you coming back for more. If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, you can try things a little more on the spicy side, and maybe even the Belut Bumbu Kecap. They also have a full sushi menu, in case you’re not in the mood for curry. I haven’t tried the sushi yet, and with all the other great stuff here, I can’t promise that I will anytime soon. Overall incredible food, atmosphere and staff. I highly recommend it!!!

GONOW. Like are u kidding me, why is this place not packed all the time!!! The food was absolutely incredible, and the prices were very reasonable. The waiter David was sweet; he joked with us and was very knowledgeable about everything. He told us this story about how the chef was a top chef on some crazy ish and I was thinking he was just hyping the food up. After eating, it is so apparent that the food is good quality and that the chef is ultimately skilled at his craft. The decorations are beautiful and it’s slow so it’s likely that you’ll get the amazing window seat. All in all, go nowwwwww

One of my favorite restaurants in Miami. The food deserves the 5 star rating alone. I’m not going to go into details about the food, it’s great. If you’ve never tried Indonesian food, and like asian food with curry, peanut sauce and fresh veggies, you’ll love it(the sushi is great too). The place is small, but I really don’t mind this at all. The owner needs to reconsider its policy about not taking credit cards(I wouldn’t mind paying for the credit card fee if I was given an option). It’s obvious Bali Café is now an established restaurant in downtown Miami, you need to start catering to your patrons.

The food is awesome. The service is only one server, extremely professional, knowledgeable about the dishes, fast and efficient. The place look outdated in its décor, but the food surpass all other expectations They only accept cash, NO credit cards are accepted, so make sure to stop by the ATM before getting there. They been in dwtwn Miami for years for a reason. I highly recommend this place.

Let me begin by saying that only accepting cash for payment creates a HUGE inconvenience for anyone dinning here. I don’t know about you but it’s 2015, not many people carry a lot of cash on them these days and when you tell your customers to use the ATM around the corner they may never come back. Now, the food. It was good. Was it worth my friend running in the rain to the ATM? No, not really. Have I also mentioned that they do not have their soft or hard liquor license? That was a bummer because in the course of dinning here, it became monsoon season outside and we both really could have used some drinks to wait out the massive flooding in the area. Do I see myself returning here on my own? Not really. Cash only and unable to order wine does this place in for me.

Okay I read so many rave reviews about this place and I had to try it! First off, this place is a hole in the wall. You can actually miss it if you are not paying attention. They only take cash only and there is a sign on the door. They also tell you cash only before you order. So hopefully you don’t end up eating without having any cash on you. I am sure there is an ATM nearby. It’s really small here. Like really small. I don’t think it’s good for groups unless it’s really slow and not packed. I got there at 2:15 pm and there were not many people there. Make sure to sit in the front instead of near the kitchen. It is extremely hot and you will melt. There is also a small table outside, but it’s too hot out there ahah! They give you complimentary Miso soup while you wait for your entrée, which is nice. The miso soup was really good. I was not sure what to order because this was my first time at an Indonesian Restuarant. I asked the waiter and he told me the Opor Ayam(chicken) was popular so I went with that. I sipped my soup and patiently waited for my plate. It finally arrived and I was so ready to dig in. It didn’t take that long for me to get my food, which will probably different if it’s very busy. Anyways, the dish was beautifully plated and I was excited to try. The curry was very flavorful and delicious. The only complaint that I had was that the chicken was a bit dry. Nevertheless it still tasted well with the sauce. If you’re not in the mood to try Indonesian food, they also have sushi. I didn’t try the sushi, but it looked very fresh to me. Maybe next time. Overall, the food was very filling and was not too expensive. I will definitely come back here since I go to school nearby. Hopefully I won’t get there when it’s packed! Bom apetite!(portuguese)

Holy amazing, Batman! 5 Stars for a meal that made Indonesian food one of my new favorite cuisines! First thing to say is that this place is why I love Unilocal. What a find! For $ 18 you can have a meal fit for a king. Oh yes, I’m referring to the Rinsttafel feast! There are more parts to this feast then I can go through(and the names are doozies!), but suffice to say you will leave full, smiling, and wishing you’d done some stomach stretching to fit more perfectly-seasoned food in! A few favorites within the feast: — The Asian Salad is out of this world. There are a ton of ingredients that shouldn’t work together, but they do! We’re talking strawberries and seaweed, people. Trust me– it WORKS! — Anchovy peanuts. Again– Huh?! Again– Mmm! They were sweet and also a bit tangy. I’m not sure how they related to anchovies but either way they were a hit and added a different texture. — The fish dish was all of our favorite of the spread. Indonesian food isn’t spicy(which is great for me), but it packs in the flavors. Curries, smokiness, sweet, tangy– all represented in the feast. One big note– this place is cash only! I missed this fact and was glad my friends had the cash to spot me! I would definitely go back and plan to the next time I’m in town! Now to find a comparable Indonesian spot in Orlando…

I have been coming to this place for years, I love the food and all the different flavors. The place is very small and cozy. The salad is amazing, the lumpia’s awww so good. The only bad thing is cash only… and so that’s annoying. I would go more often if it wasn’t for that as I don’t always carry cash.

Originally i was planning to go to niu restaurant that is in the same block, but it was closed, so i decided to come here as it is just a few steps away, and the reviews were very good. I asked for the Gado Gado, that basically is a vegetarian plate with tofu and a special peanut sauce. It was really delicious, little bit of spice but mild, so it just gracefully opened the flavours of the plate. Was surprised at the portion sizes, as even though i asked for a small version of the plate, easily could have been a portion for two! The place itself is kind of small, unassuming, not fancy decorated asian style(not very knowledgeable about the specific region, Indonesia maybe?). Service was really slow, maybe because restaurant was packed, or because i was seated at the bar, in a location that is hidden from the main tables and servers visual range, not sure, but at least i had to wait 10 minutes to get my beverage and like 25 to get my food. I also asked for a vegetable hand roll and got instead a sushi roll. At that point was really hungry, so no damage there and just ate it. When i saw the size of the Gado Gado… well…let’s just say that today i will skip dinner! :) 3.5 because of the service. The food was really good though.

So we walked in for a late lunch on a Saturday around 3:15 pm… so I asked if it was okay since they close by 4 pm … the gentleman immediately said no problem so we were very happy and took a seat :) needless to say the service continue to be superb throughout the entire lunch He gave us recommendations on the menu since it was our first time eating Indonesian cuisine so we followed his lead and it was great He was very attentive and polite. After this first experience with Indonesian cuisine, we have to say we are definitely in love with it. Both of our dishes were delicious. Rendang Sapi — beef with spices and rice. The flavors in this dish were explosive. The beef was tender and juicy. The rice was very tasty. The salad that comes with this dish was very refreshing, light, and fresh. It had lettuce, carrots, onions, pineapples, tomatoes and a delicious light sesame dressing. The dressing was similar to a vinaigrette but a bit sweeter. I saw in the menu that they make this salad with chicken on top. So, this salad will be a good dish for the diet that I am always planning on doing… Laksa — shrimp(not fried), tofu, veggies, noodles and and egg in an amazing curry soup. It also comes with chips so i dunk them in the soup yum! OK so they have spicy sauces on the table that you can add to your dish(one red/one green) I tried the red hot sauce. It was hoooot so I mixed some in my soup and… boom! Perfect! I ate it all and the portions are large so no diet yet. Can’t blame a girl for enjoying good food. I washed it down with a nice jasmine iced tea, which by the way had refills. I think I’m good for the rest of the day :) Overall, it was a great first experience. Good service, great prices, big portions and delicious food. A must try if you are in downtown/brickell area. I know we will be back very soon I recommend this place but I have to give you two big tips: 1. Bring cash because it is CASH only 2. Be careful with sauces on the table — they are deliciously HOT!
