Ya get what ya get. This food location is about it for the unsecured, public area inside the Miami airport arrivals building, right across from Dolphin parking garage on the baggage level. Unless you count Starbucks as a food destination, this is an unticketed person’s only airport choice in these parts. Service was very nice, and considering I was in Miami, I ordered a Cuban sandwich. But, no hot press here. The filling was a parsimonious gathering of deli turkey, ham,& cheese. Pickles not invited — Instead, a smudge of sweet relish. The worst part? Not even cuban bread. Just some soft Au Bön Pain, which in this case turned out to be a disappointing Non Bön Pain.

Good location, but your Parfait Yogurt is… terrible. Were those berries picked years ago? Also please do not make me tip you for buying it over the counter. Ha ha…

Me: «hi, could I have an Americano please?» Cashier: «No, we only have brewed American coffee» Me: «but you have espresso, so can you not just add hot water to make it like an Americano?» Cashier: «No» Me: *confused, annoyed and in a hurry to catch a plane* «ok I’ll have a double espresso and the scrambled eggs on toast»(one of their advertised menu items) Cashier: «oh, we don’t have scrambled eggs» Seriously!!! Customers don’t have time for this level of ridiculousness in an airport restaurant. I ended up having to ask the manager for hot water on top of my espresso and I ordered another more expensive breakfast item in place of the mysteriously disappeared scrambled eggs I really wanted. The food was ok, in fact the bread was indeed very good and incredibly fresh. Coffee did the job in waking me up but whatever happened to traditional water-poured-through-espresso-americanos?! And whatever happened to covering up menu items that are no longer available so customers aren’t left perplexed and angry when they get to the top of a busy line? Really didn’t appreciate the idiotic service here. If I had known there was a nice coffee shop at the gate past security I wouldn’t have bothered to come to Au Bön Pain.

So you think you can’t mess up a simple turkey club? Looks like someone sat on my sandwich.

I love au bon pain! And was so excited to see that this was one of the only food venues still open when I landed in the miami airport at 8pm on a monday(why was everything closed or closing at this time? It didn’t even seem late to me.) But unfortunately it would seem that the employees at this location are so rude it makes enjoying their food impossible. The pickings in the display case were sparse so I walked up to the counter to order and the employee said something to me that sounded like complete gibberish so I asked her to repeat herself but I still didn’t understand what she was trying to say, I was afraid she was trying to tell me they were closing so I asked her to repeat herself again when she gave the biggest sigh and eye roll I’d ever seen. It was then that it clicked that she was just saying«welcome to au bon pain» but with my ears still adjusting from my flight and her accent(Cuban maybe?) trying to pronounce the French name of the venue it just sounded like nonsense. I was tired and trying desperately to understand her that her over exaggerated eye roll caught me completely off guard. I was so flustered by her rudeness I just turned and walked out of the store.

Not that you would expect much from airport coffee shop food but it’s probably the service you hope for. When you ask for some sugar to go along with your cup of tea and find resistance and get ignored you realize that you have arrived in the third world country of Miami. Necessity being the mother of invention, there are not to many choices except for a Starbucks in that terminal that had three bar stools. So if you want a spot to sit on a departure coffee this is your best option for terminal 1. Jason Schaffer PrivateKeyMagazine.Com

STAYAWAY!!! Worst employees ever! Went in for a bagel and when I requested it be toasted they informed me they couldn’t because since they were closing(in 20 minutes) they had already turned the oven off!!! Got the untoasted bagel and when U got to my table I realized they had not given me cream cheese as requested. I went back to the counter and when I asked for the cream cheese they wouln’t give me because they assured they had included it inside the bag. Had to go back to my table to get the bag and show them the empty bag!!!

It’s fast food, you grab and pay. Cashier was pushy about a tip. Was upset I didn’t leave one.

Terrible set-up with everything behind the counter. So you have to wait while they get the oatmeal and cappuccino of the person in front of you before you can get to the register to pay for your food.

It is a chain, this is good and bad depending on the owner. The good is of course everything is supposed to be the same quality as the recipe for eah baked good. However sometimes training of staff differ from location to location that you figure is part of the franchise training but it is how each individul owner runs things. Staff at this location is friendly and helpful. If you like French baked goods, this isn’t really French. It will satisfy your sweet tooth and get you cafine but don’t think this is a real typical French Bakery.

Their rating is well deserved. I wish I had the opportunity to read it before eating here. I was running for a plane and wanted to bring a sandwich on-board, rather than eat airline food. Stopped by this store on the way to the gate and saw a delicious looking chicken salad on a croissant. Bought it, boarded my plane and after takeoff, opened and started to eat the sandwich. At this point I discovered that my chicken salad sandwich was 90% potato salad. There was no mention of Potato salad on the label, and I have never heard of potato salad as an ingredient in a chicken salad sandwich. I only presume that since it is cheaper, ABP uses it to maximize their profits. Good luck guys, you got that $ 6.95 but you’ll never see me in one of your restaurants again. I hope whatever extra you made was worth the loss of a customer.

Both of my visits were Friday evenings over the past couple months: I was tired, hungry, and looking forward to eating something that was not fried after spending time in rural Haiti. I had been through customs and missed out on the chance of getting to the food places inside security, thus my options were limited… It was this or Pizza Hut for a warm meal in the concourses outside the security, or take a chance at the hotel restaurants. I couldn’t find the Sushi place, I figure it’s behind security. Thus, I ate here. Both times, they were patient as I had no idea what to order.

I love Au Bön Pain and have always relied on them for a quick, delicious, and fresh meal on-the-go. I have become a fan mainly because they use delicious, fresh ingredients and have some great sandwich artists. They are always consistent with their recipes and source high quality ingredients and snacks. My experience at this Au Bön Pain was completely terrible. The turkey honey mustard wrap was about 80% lettuce and 20% gross slimey turkey and roasted peppers. There was not a drop of honey mustard and it was so bland and not balanced. Luckily the Peach Ice Tea was consistent with what I have gotten at other Au Bön Pain cafes but it couldn’t make up for the disgusting wrap. Listen to the reviews and stay away. There is a really good Sushi place in Terminal D. I recommend their J&B sushi roll, it helped me forget about my experience at Au Bön Pain!

I stopped by for a bit of stuff filling myself up before the flight — and shouldn’t have. I had a really bad stomach while waiting for my flight. It got so bad that I had to take the next flight out as I just could not take my chance have an emergency during flight. I think that the local health department should really inspect this place more diligently.

I love Au Bön, really, I do. They’re perfect for a relatively healthy and delicious lunch at a decent price point. I visit them all the time in Boston and other cities and wish we had more of them in South Florida, specifically Ft. Lauderdale. I know there’s a few scattered in Miami, but they’re all in weird areas and too far to be convenient. That being said, this Au Bön is awful. I was so excited to see my terminal had an Au Bön and decided to grab a sandwich prior to my international flight last month. Upon entering this teeny store, I should have known that this would not be the typical Au Bön experience. First of all, the menu is extremely limited. Used to creamy soups and delicious sandwich creations from other Au Bons? Forget it. The menu here is bare bones at best, and not as creative or interesting as the other locations. Think ham and cheese sandwiches, rather than turkey, brie, and cranberry wraps. They have a bakery section like the other locations, but the selection was limited as well, and most of the pastries looked a little, well, shall we say, antique. Second, the staff was very unhelpful. I asked to substitute my cheese and the bread on my sandwich. No problem, they said at the register. When they handed my order over to the employees that make it in front of you(a la Subway), it became a huge ordeal to try and make the substitutions. The sandwich makers spoke sketchy English at best, which I guess I should expect in Miami airport, but it was still difficult to communicate. When I got the sandwich, it was pretty awful. I ordered a roast beef and cheese sandwich with all the toppings(bare bones menu again) and it was probably one of the worst I have ever eaten. The bread was dry as a bone, the lunchmeat was stringy, and the sandwich was so tasteless I may as well have not eaten at all. I left half of it, and I never leave food, EVER. It was that bad. Bottom line: if you like Au Bön(and even if you don’t!), avoid this one. It’s not as good as other locations and you’ll find a better tasting meal elsewhere in the terminal. Trust me — you’ll thank me later!
