I have always liked Churches Fried Chicken. MUCH better than Colonel Grease or Popeye’s.There used to be one near me in So. Miami but it moved years ago. Now, they’re nowhere near me, but I do occasionally pass one on the way home and pick up some chicken, for which the resident two-foots are really happy. I’m not thrilled with the sides so I usually order just chicken, and occasionally some honey rolls. I’ve had occasions where they were closed before their posted time(South Dixie) and 27 Ave just north of the Dade County line. For the Pinky Plunge Unilocal event this year, I ordered from the location on NW79th St and 21st Ave EARLY in the day 40 pieces to be picked up at for the picnic next day. I confirmed with the day manager,(whose name I don’t remember), and even called later in the day to confirm. She assured me that though SHE would not be there at 11, having ended her shift at 8pm, she would make sure to tell the night manager and leave the written order so he could see it and it would be ready and waiting for me. Needless to say, when I GOT there at 10:45,(they had midnight posted as the closing hour), The night manager had no knowledge of the order, was already closed and was in the process of cleaning the fryers. Well, with a very calm, well modulated voice, I casually mentioned that I was NOTLEAVINGTHEREWITHOUTMYCHICKEN!!! …and the VERY nice night manager turned the fryers back on and COOKEDMYCHICKEN!.. and it was sooo fresh and hot and delicious the next day at the picnic.(and I even got $ 10. off for my aggravation! At the location on top of this review, I went on a Sunday where I took advantage of the 10 piece for $ 4.99 deal, to bring to a friend’s house and even stopped again on the way BACK home to buy more for my resident two foots… and even though the lovely server at the takeout window said they had been run ragged as it seemed EVERYONE in Miami was taking advantage of their Sunday special, she said it with a big smile and a cheery hello and goodbye and enjoy your chicken… and we did! xo-a
