This place is a bit of a rip-off. They charge you for a service fee and then they ask for a gratuity.

Expensive, but good. Had the small mojito which was good, and the Caribbean salad. It was good but not the best I’ve had. The bread they brought was good and server was very nice.

Buyer Beware!!! Sign showing 2 for 1 drink special … Stopped in with three friends to have a drink because of that advertisement. Waitress extremely pushy in trying to sell over priced appetizers. No prices on drink menu’s. When bill was received waitress told us that the 2 for 1 drinks are PER person … You needed to order 2 drinks for yourself and one would be free then. TOTAL tourist trap … 19% service fee automatically charged, but again waitress doesn’t mention it and let’s you tip her again! STAYAWAY!!! Spend money and time some where else!!!

Tourists Beware of the 2 for 1 drink special! No other notation is mentioned on the sign or the menu but the 2 for 1 is per person and cannot be split between two people. We got hosed for $ 18 for a small alcoholic mixed drink per person and there were four people in our party. There are no prices on the drink menu either. Not very attentive service either. And there was a 19% service charge/tips automatically applied to the check. Very shocking when we received the bill. We will never go here again.

This place is way too overpriced, food wasn’t good at all, nor service. They didn’t even refill your water and a cup of lemonade costs $ 11. I typically don’t comment but this restaurant has raised my interest of writing one. They add 19% service fee automatically on your bill and still asks you to leave some tip, very interesting. Never ever come to this place.

Service sucks. 0 stars for service. I know you charge an automatic 19% for a tip, and the majority of your customers are one time tourists, but can the servers at least pretend like they care? I had to stand up and find a waiter every time I wanted anything. However, there are plenty of hostesses on the sidewalk eager to pull customers in. But once they have you, your nothing but a wallet with a stomach. For a tourist trap, the food was better than I thought, but still not worth going back. Fried fish sandwich was good, pizza wasn’t. Calamari was soggy. Ceviche was ok. My friend enjoyed his shrimp Risotto and cold platter. Star of the evening is the tuna tartar. Biggest portion of tuna I’ve ever seen, had to be 6 – 70zs. This was the highlight of the night. This place is located in a good area and has potential to be good… but does it need to be better considering the fact that unknown tourists will venture in regardless? That’s probably the question the managers asks him/herself when reading these bad reviews. My fellow Unilocalers, there are too many good places in Miami beach to go to, and you shouldn’t waste your time here. Wouldn’t go back.

I was checking out on the menu and one of the servers standing next to it, her name is Analia, told me to move away because I was taking to long, I told her that I was waiting for my friends and about to decide taking a table here but she said that I was taking too long that I must move, I said why are you so rude? I am a customer, she said she did not care and started calling me names for no reasons. Extremely disrespectful employee, she should not be working at the front of the house. I reported to the Manager of the place, very sweet girl but not sure that she could handle the unacceptable behavior of this employee Analia. I told the manager I was about to ask for a table but your servers approach made us change our mind and she responded«of course, I will call Analia into the office.» Terrible customer service experience… I do not recommend this place at all…

Great place if you can get a happy hour deal. The food was great, the mojitos even bettet and they had live music.

Bad bad experience. Medium cocktail costs me $ 45 and small cocktail is $ 29. It was the first time I found a common drink is so expensive. My dad thought the music was too loud so he left before ordering any food. I also can’t understand what our waitress said because she usually spoke Spanish. The waitress seems very impatient! The restaurant also charged me 19% service, which was not the tip!

Food was great. I had the mixed seafood salad and my wife had the grilled shrimp salad. My son had a burger and we all had one beer. Total w tip includes was 145.00 They gotcha on the 15.00 per beer. A bit excessive even for south beach!

Stay away, stay far away. We were sat underneath a speaker playing really bad music. The food was sub-par at best. Staff was super inattentive. Great location — I hope they clean up their act.

Tequila shots on the house? Don’t mind if I do! Thanks to our waitress of course haha. My friends & I were lured in from the yummy big drinks we would see on other peoples tables. Before going to the beach, we decided to have lunch. Looks like The Place was the place! We ended up here during happy hour which means more alcohol! We got two big bowl drinks for $ 25, which was well worth it! I got to say, the sex on the beach drink was beyond amazing! I could have drank another one of those. The food was very tasteful as well. I got the chicken wrap & had no complaints. My friend who got the shrimp salad was very satisfied too. Who knew a salad can have so much flavor, as she said. Service was very good. Our waitress made sure all was well & taken care of, which we appreciated it. Especially being visitors from a different state. I would definitely come back here for their yummy drinks haha.

Not sure why this is a 2 star. I would rate 3.5. The service is good, and the prices are the best on Ocean Blvd. For example, Happy Hour prices-2 for 1 at most place are $ 25 – 35, with prices not listed on the menu. The Place, the prices are between $ 10 – 20, and listed on the menu. The food is good, and they seem to be busier then the rest of the restaurants on Ocean Blvd. I would definitely give it a try. We stayed at The Beacon, which is connected, and were treated so nice.

It’s OK. It’s close to the beach. When they said the happy hour for second drinks is free. However, when we checked the bill, the second drinks is $ 0.01 each. Although it was a small number, they should tell costomers the second drinks is $ 0.01 rather than free.

Bogo on happy hour? Hell yeah! I’m drunk just thinking about it. Cold platter was on point with ceviche, crab legs, shrimp cocktail and oysters. Everything was fresh and hit the spot. I’m not sure what all the bad reviews are about. The food was good, the drinks had us happy and the service was great. This spot is perfect for people watching and we even made a few friends along the way. We had a blast! I’m not a huge fan of the 19% instant gratuity added but that’s pretty standard anyplace off Ocean.

This place is pretty much horrible. I could do better at a truck stand. Most of the people in my group did not touch there food. I usually Unilocal before I leap and I certainly should have done it today. $ 7.00 for chicken strips and fries, $ 5.50 for a soda. Mandatory 19% service charge. Service charge for what? stay away… Faraway…

Extremely different from the last few times I was here. They basically get new cooks and become inconsistent. My last visits at this restaurant was a few times in 2012 and recently both last summer and this January. This January, Waitresses are way more rude than the past ones, over priced shrimp cocktail… is a joke. 4(FOUR) small shrimp for $ 15 when you can buy a bag of 20 cooked shrimp for $ 12.99 #LOL I loved my previous experiences here but my last visit was in January and I must say I wasn’t too impressed. I gave it 3 stars,(still generous) for over priced shrimp, rude waitress, and for the poorly plated food(I left a review on «The Beacon Hotel» with photos of how the food used to look when I stayed there) I’ll give this place ONE more try and honestly that’s because I’m hoping everything will be different but if not, I definitely won’t be coming here again. There’s way TOO many wonderful places and hidden gems on south beach to be settling for mediocre service, rude waiters, and inconsistent meals. Some people come back to places because they expect it to be just as good as the last time, not the opposite! Do better! Or «the place» will be in «the past»

Stay away! We were hungry and we didn’t know where to go after walking a lot we just landed here. Of course they were promoting specials. They sat us outside at our request. My husband had paella(the menu doesn’t include price) he said the only good thing out of the paella was the lobster it had. I had a Cuban sandwich(part of the special) I ordered it only with ham and cheese nothing else. It came with pickles– I didn’t feel like arguing this I just got to SOBE. We also got two drinks(part of special — 2⁄1). My Cuban was alright I honestly had better this tasted like a cheap deli version and my fries were disgusting. Our bill came out to $ 95.00 for a lunch time special! I was better off going to Johnny Rockets next door. Please avoid this place. Let’s not even talk about service. Just to update right now I am on the phone with my bank to dispute the tip that the server Maria Soledad decided to add. A 20% service fee is already added I didn’t feel they deserved that and certainly was not going to add more. I won’t even bother with calling this place because I already know if there waitress have the guts to do this what kind of shady place this. Wish I would have read the reviews prior to sitting here!

Not sure why the bad reviews for this place. I will say that what attracted us to it was the $ 3.99 appetizers, and then we saw that you could only order one. I had been planning to order a few and call it a meal LOL. We walked up Ocean Drive and then came back here since it seemed reasonable. They have nine dollar entrées which are actually pretty large, we ordered the salad and the pasta pesto to share. Don’t be fooled by their two-for-one drinks, we got the small size and it was huge so I would hate to see their large size, and it was $ 18. That’s actually not too bad considering I was at a happy hour at a hotel in Fort Lauderdale later in the day, and those tropical drinks were $ 15 for a much smaller version. The standout was definitely the pasta pesto, there’s a place in Michigan I like that makes it but this place was just as good if not better. There are a lot of choices on Ocean Drive so I might try another place next time, but this place gives you a pretty good value for your money.
