Dive bar but drinks aren’t cheap and the bar’s going through some refurbishments. They have a pool table. Mostly locals hang here, good cocktail selections.

Outstanding staff, bartenders are very knowledgable, and not to hard on the eyes may I say. They are also open until 5am which is very convenient. Not the cheapest drinks but the best bang for your Bucky puppy in south beach. I highly recommend this place.

Dive bar like all the other dive bars on the beach. Sketchy little bit dirty but always friendly staff. Drinks were decent priced but for a dive bar not properly prices but then the argument is its on the beach or rent price etc. I know dive bars in Fort Lauderdale on the beach or Hollywood that offer way below prices then any of the dive bars on the beach. That being said, prices are much cheaper than any of the bars around the area there’s a pool table and a few arcade games I believe. What’s better about this dive bar on the beach than others is that it has a lot of Windows letting in light so you don’t feel like it’s a black hole sucking you in and they have a Pinic table outside as well.

it’s hard to find a good sports bar in this area of town… it’s mostly high end hotel bars… We asked the front desk where to watch the NFL playoffs, since none of the Hotel bars were playing the game, and they directed us to Free Spirits. It’s your standard, no frills dive bar. the hot /buffalo wings were surprisingly tasty!

This bar is the worst. It’s a sports bar, but they wouldn’t put on the Marlins baseball game. No food menus, you had to read it off a wall. I tried to start a tab, but they closed me out. The waitresses/bartenders were rude and passive aggressive, even after I told them we wanted to order food, no one would take our order. Seemed full of chain smoking euro trash. I love a good dive bar, but this was just sticky and gross with terrible service.

This bar actually made a fan of this area. Never been a fan of the South Beach area, but this bar has a great low key atmosphere, friendly staff, and greasy bar food. No club BS here. Just good times

Horrible. Service — 3 girls helped me. 1 was nice. The first was more concerned with doing shots with the patrons, since she was about to clock out, rather than getting me another drink. Her name was Chloe. Even though the place was dead on a Monday night, the staff seemed more concerned with talking to each other and catching up about what was going on the night before. Overall service sucked except for one nice gal. Next Food — I have had better food out of my friends trunk. My order came out wrong the first time. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. When it came out, it was the crispy chicken sandwich. Please refer back to the comments on service. Hence the too busy worrying about getting off work and having shots beforehand while still on the clock, to get a guy’s order right. Last, and the reason I closed my tab quick and ran was the one girl behind the bar with an «I love Instanbul» shirt. She was so unpleasant I didn’t even want to stay any longer. I had had enough and I am actually a really tolerant guy. I might have stayed longer if she didn’t break the proverbial camels back. I will not be back in this lifetime. John

Nice little bar. Open until the wee hours. Friendly and efficient staff. Some are nice to see very scantily dressed. Some should wear more clothes. Good list of bottled beers. Want a drink at 3am? This is a great spot for it.

The first bar I visited, my first time in Miami. Jennifer is one of the best bartenders I’ve come across and it’s always a blast stopping in and chatting. Good service, classic dive ambiance, no complaints.

Free Spirits is one of the coolest/best dive bars in South Beach. Awesome and friendly bartenders. I usually come to Miami once a year and always make it to Free Spirits. Last time we were in Lahella remembered us from years past.

After a quick stroll for my first time in Miami Beach, nothing seemed like a better idea than a drink at a local dive bar. Got in on a Thursday evening with barely anyone else inside and a few tv’s playing some games. Noticed there weren’t any local drafts on tap sadly, but since it’s a dive bar not really surprised. Ended up getting the Goose Island IPA which albeit strong, came with a $ 8 price tag. Pretty expensive for a bar like this — maybe since it’s near the beach? At the very least was able to charge my phone at an outlet and go on my way. No need to come back though.

Another great dive bar in Miami. Place was right next to the hotel I stayed in and was a great source of entertainment. Cheap drinks, all in the 5 dollar range and all with heavy pours from the bartenders. Speaking of bartenders, they were all friendly and fun, they were looking to have a good time just as much as the customers. Food was surprisingly good, I walked past the kitchen and was having apprehensions about ordering food but as I was hungry I had to go for it. The chicken wings were well cooked with great flavor. Chicken tenders were also nicely breaded and cooked well. Fries were different from what you expect from fries, these were more strips of potato deep fried, so not your normal look of fries but equally tasty. There was a random cat, apparently the bar’s cat who had the run of the place. I had a good time messing with the little guy getting him to chase a stick. All in all a weird little spot but definitely a great place to watch a sporting event and have some cheap drinks and decent bar food.

Dope spot. Relatively cheap drinks, smoking allowed inside, pool tables, good staff and good music.

I’ve had this place on my list ofr about 2 years being a huge dive bar fan. I finally made it over here to check it out. The tap selection was very poor, and the service was extremely slow and quite rude. We ordered some food, aside from the kitchen being one of the most scary I have seen anywhere. I was quite sure I would get sick, but I was hungry and figured deep fried pre cooked food was pretty safe. The upside is the chicken fingers were actually pretty decent. Will not be back, sorry.

It is what it is and Free Spirits is not not trying what it’s not. It’s a Dive Bar. They have happy hour at happy hour prices, not empty wallet prices. You’re likely to see a drunk guy or two sitting at the bar, or sleeping on the outside bench — for added street cred and value. Oh, if you eat, bring your own condiments. The ketchup squeeze bottles are empty… ALLOFTHEM are empty. You can expect service with a smirk, not a smile. But the bartenders are not mean, just smirky. I can relate, I’m a smirker. TIP: Bring condiments. Better yet, eat somewhere else.

LOVETHISPLACE!!! Great dive bar just steps from the ocean. Came here after happy hour(literally, one hour!) at either Mr. Chow or Phillipe(can’t tell the difference between the two) and a whole night of drinking here cost less than one drink across the parking lot. The drinks are stiff and they have a great selection of alcohol. Pretty much anything you could want; they can make. Staff and other patrons are very friendly. You are guaranteed a good time here!

MOJITOS? In a British pub? With fresh real mint? Claro que si consorte! Or is it still cheers mate?! I stopped by for lunch during my beach holiday. Sending a big smile to those who were working President’s Day :) Since I took public transit in an attempt to be green, I needed a place that was close. Thanks to my handy Unilocal Monocle, I found Free Spirits, which essentially the lobby bar of the Days Inn on 20th Street. It was relatively uncrowded: just a real-life British dude, an older couple and myself. The waitress and manager were pleasant if not overly chatty. They did give me the treat of preparing my very authentic Mojito in front of me. Prices were about $ 9 for Bacardi and $ 7 for Don Carlos(their house rum) — I had both! A little pricey for the size but the fresh mint kinda makes up for it. Food was a decently portioned grilled chicken sandwich(which they correctly opted out the mayo) with fresh lettuce and plenty of barbeque sauce and British style chips(I had to have something«organic» right?) The hotel’s WiFi is accessible in the restaurant, and has a solid signal. Bathrooms are a little divey but stocked and clean, with décor consisting of local graffiti, phone numbers offering companionship and old British newspapers. They charge a 15% minimum tip but at least disclose it upfront. I’d check this place out again. Tallyho!

Beautifully gross dive bar with purposefully semi-obnoxious staff, great jukebox and cheap drinks. better after 2AM.
