We have been several times over the past month, and they are our go-to place! Breakfast platters, omelets, burgers, shrimp poboys-all have been awesome. Monday I had the redbeans and rice pirogue with pulled pork and it was incredible. Creamy and well seasoned, huge portion size and only $ 6.99! While we didn’t get it this time, the cheesecake is homemade, light and rich and overwhelms the plate in size. Service has always been stellar and timely, with a shout out to Chris and Kathleen. I want chicken and waffle but hate to not get another favorite to try to choose from!

The eggs Benedict with pulled pork was great along with their Creole cheese grits. The waiter was outstanding always checking back on what we needed. My wife and I will definitely go back. Made for a great Father’s Day breakfast.

Great service, average food, bad policies. My son asked to substitute blueberries the peanut butter and bananas on the pancake from the kids’ menu. The waiter informed us that he was not allowed to make any substitutions and that to get a blueberry pancake, he would have to charge us for a full adult order of pancakes($ 6.99) plus $ 1.99 for the blueberries. It’s ridiculous that the restaurant refused to make a simple accommodation. We really enjoyed the creamed spinach and andouille cheese bread — it was inventive and well-executed.

Ok, I’m finally gonna review this place. We’ve been several times and have always liked it. The service has always been good. From Dana one visit to Alexis(I think) on another visit, we’re always treated well and they interact with our 2 yr old daughter. They add to the dining experience. The food is excellent. The ideas that their owner and chef come up with are amazing. We’ve had breakfast entrées, dinner entrées, desserts, you name it. The most recent trip, I had eggs and creole corn grits with pork tenderloin and apricot glaze. That apricot glaze with the pork, OMG! My wife had the grilled chicken dinner which came with superb roasted potatoes and the vegetable of the day, which was grilled zucchini and squash. My wife particularly loves their take of the chicken and waffles. The chicken tenders are placed on top of the waffle and is covered with that same yummy apricot glaze and powdered sugar. I will admit, their prices are in the $ 10 – 14 range, so it’s not a bargain place but the taste of the food makes up for it.

Great food and great service. Had the chicken and waffles and loved it. Will go back many times and explore other items on the menu.

Pros — clean, availability(we went in on a Saturday night & sat right now), delicious appetizers(we got the pulled pork & cheese fries — highly recommend) & yummy shakes & malts. Cons — the burgers! I was completely shocked that my burger wasn’t any good. It is a diner for crying out loud. Moral of the story — go, but avoid the burger!

I would come back for the service alone. Of course their food is delicious, but I don’t remember the last time we had service so good, not only from our server Dana, but also the rest of the staff was friendly. I had the spinach salad with fried chicken and the chicken was fried perfectly. We also had the pulled pork sweet potato fries, but we ordered the wrong dish because we expected it to have cheese. Our server Dana, made it right and offered to melt cheese on it to make us happy. And they were so good. We’ll definitely be back!

They get four stars for food and prices, and another star for service. Our server was already good, but after ordering food our toddler decided he had a tummy ache and threw up everywhere. The guys were so helpful and understanding and made my son feel less embarrassed. They packaged food up to go and even after it steamed in the car while we got home and got our son changed everyone thought their food was delicious. I had the chicken and waffles and the chicken was delicious with the crystal marinade(they are telling the truth when they say it’s not actually spicy) and apricot… the waffle not too thick or dry which seems to be a common theme with Belgian waffles I’ve had lately. My wife got the pulled pork benedict which was delicious. Their sauce works with breakfast better than most barbecue sauces would. Their bacon was really good too.

I absolutely LOVE the food there. My fav is the«Rocksy’s Fries», I think that’s what it’s called, they always know what I mean when I call to order lol. The owner is very nice, the chefs are AMAZING however, they have a couple of female servers there that are the rudest. They will sit you in, stand by the register and completely forget about you. That’s why I don’t even dine in anymore. I love the place, I looooove the food but they ruined the whole«dine in» experience for me. Every time I call for a takeout, I pray to heaven that the girl who always wears the red bandana doesn’t pick up I think her name is Rachel. She sounds and looks like she’s always in a bad mood. I introduced my co-workers to the Rocksy’s Pulled pork fries now it’s everyone’s favorite. Do yourself a favor, try it you can thank me later! :-) M.

Had to drop someone off at the airport early and deckded to grab a bite before getting to work. Came here because I wanted to check out another 24 hour spot, but they don’t seem to be open. Someone was behind the counter but both doors are locked and when I tried them both and couldnt get in he just looked up and kept doing whatever he was doing. Guess they aren’t open 24 hours. Wish I would have known before I came all the way here.

Stopped in for a quick breakfast and was so suprised. The food was amazing. We both had the fats domino omelet. Filled with local Chesisi ham! The table next to us had banana nuts pancakes and shared some with us… omg yum!!! Can’t wait to come back!!!

To start off. We read the reviews and we said we wanted to try it!!! So we gave them a try. To start off we arrived and were asked to wait because we wanted a booth. So we patiently waited even though we could clearly see that four booths were available. After waiting a total of six minutes, we were seated. I must mention, not that it matters or that they are racist, I, myself am white and my husband is black. As we were seated another white couple walked in and were seating IN A BOOTH within thirty seconds from arriving. Not sure why we had to wait. That really put a bad taste in my mouth for this establishment already. I got the Richie valens hot sausage Poboy and my husband got pancakes and bacon and eggs. You can see the kitchen from wherever you sit. They do not wear gloves. One guy was wearing gloves. The others were not. We finished ordering our food at 11:25, at 11:51 they brought us Doughnuts because we had to wait so long and finally received our food at 12:00. I am giving two stars just for food. The food was good. The people were nice. Please try this please for yourself. I don’t want to give it a bad name. But this was our personal experience.

Great little 24 hour dinner. Service was really good. I asked the waitress what did they do wonderful? She said pulled pork. Yep! She said pulled pork. Now being from Memphis the home of the INTERNATIONALBBQCOOKINGCONTEST we take our pulled pork, chopped pork, and all things pork seriously. We are pretty snobby about our BBQ. I don’t even think I have ever even like BBQ outside of Memphis. So I ordered the pulled pork tacos. HOMERUN. You got to try this. I give it 5 stars. That lady sure did tell me the truth.

This place is perfectly priced. Came in at 11:30PM and Todd provided amazing customer service. I truly believed he was the owner by how well he took care of the diner and the customers. We got crawfish stuffed beignets and they were AMAZING! We enjoyed amazing coffee and mood little candles with 50 – 60’s music and we were on our way! Recommend it all day!

My boyfriend and I came here for a quick lunch yesterday before going downtown to the Saenger. We were a little out of place in our fancy clothes but no big deal. The exterior and interior of this place are really cute and all of the menu items are themed. Even the one person bathroom is cute! The menu has a good amount of options on it. It also looks like they have some cool(moderately priced) adult beverages. I thought about ordering one but figured I’d save that for next time. We decided to split the jailhouse rock pork platter which comes with cheese grits and coleslaw. We also ordered a side of fries and told the waitress that we would be ordering the donut bread pudding for dessert. My one gripe about this experience was that our food took quite awhile to come out. If we didn’t have a play to catch maybe it wouldn’t have been as big of a deal, but we didn’t understand the wait b/c nothing we ordered should have taken that long to prepare. Once the food came though, it was worth the wait! The pork was very good. My boyfriend who kept complaining that we were getting coleslaw actually really liked the coleslaw(I did too). We told the waitress that we wanted our donut bread pudding to go since we were running out of time. We actually started eating it while we waited for the check and then ate the rest in the car. It was very yummy! I will definitely be back to try more menu items and get some drinks.

After a great first experience I returned with family in town. Only to be disappointed. This was a Sunday, and they staff appeared busy but not overly so. My Father-in-Law and I ordered Bloody Marrys, as is our custom, and the waitress took a very long time bringing them to us. When she did she proceeded to tell us that the bartender wasn’t there because its breakfast and people don’t order alcohol at breakfast, also she had to get someone to help her make them because she didn’t know how. Once the food FINALLY arrived it was as good as it had been on my previous visit, however, the waitress messed up my wife’s request for egg whites. As we were hungry she went ahead and ate them anyway. I think this may have been an isolated incident due to Mardi Gras and the parade the previous night. I’ll definitely give Rocksy’s another shot once carnival passes.

I had a pretty good experience. I went with my daughter on Valentine’s Day. The restaurant was packed. I ordered the eggs Benedict. One egg was fine… The other was not cooked properly at all. The flavor was definitely there. My waitress was not attentive at all… But Donna brought my daughter a piece of paper to color and crayons and another waitress picked up the slack. I will be returning.

I went to Rocksy’s for brunch and it was a nice treat! Located in the«Fat City» area of Metairie, this place will fill you up. Rocksy’s atmosphere is like an old-school diner meets rock and roll meets Creole cachon. They have a lot of NOLA inspired breakfast meals, including the Pete Fountain omelette, which incorporates andouille hash and shrimp topped with shrimp Creole sauce. It was tasty, but the shrimp Creole sauce actually didn’t have any shrimp in it(I honestly think they forgot it, since other pictures of the meal have shrimp included), and on top of that, it had a bold, tart, Tostitos salsa-like flavor that completely overwhelmed the dish. Once I pushed that mess to the side(and I mean — surgically scraped that salsa off the egg), I was able to enjoy the rest of my meal. My fiancé’s meal was the Rocksy’s Benedict, which took a long time to come out because they accidentally broke the yolk of the poached egg prior to serving, so they had to poach another egg prior to his meal coming. The servers were very nice, and came to check on us often, it only got annoying because it made our waiting for food seem like eternity. The owner came to say hello to us though, which meant a lot to us and was a nice touch. I’ll have to find a way to return to Rocksy’s to try some of the other items on their menu, because I think this place has potential to be at least a four and a half star brunch spot, but they were just off their game the day I visited.

This is a diner style joint in Fat City that offers breakfast and lunch items all day. They have an interesting selection of items with a definite slant towards pork love. They seem take a bit longer to get your food out than most other area diners but they cook it right in front of you. Overall this is a decent spot for the diner genre and for breakfast fans you should be more than happy with their substantial selection of items.

I first met Mike Gowland nearly 30 years ago when he was my day camp counselor at St. James Major Elementary School. He was the«cool» counselor that everyone liked. Fast forward 30 years and we met again when he was a New Orleans fireman and I was a NOLA public servant. Along came Facebook and we managed to «keep in touch» via the web. But I digress. I’m not sure exactly when Mike started to cook, but he definitely has some serious skills. As a retired New Orleans firefighter, he was no stranger to the firehouse kitchen. He also served his fare at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival for years with the likes of his gumbo, alligator sauce piquante and shrimp and grits; and then honed his chef skills at Bozo’s, Austin’s, Carmine’s & Manning’s. On July 3, 2012, Mike was«crowned» champion on the«All American» episode of the television series Chopped and in August 2014, he went all the way to the Kansas State Fair to win the Deep Fried Masters competition. Now he’s serving up his fare, which he describes as «comfort food with a flair», at Rocksy’s, which resides in the old Fat City Diner. The restaurant was spotless and decorated in a classic diner style to include a large sit down counter, several tables and booths all with red vinyl seats and a black and white tiled floor which was buffed to a mirror shine. But enough about the décor, because it’s the food that’s the real story here. We started with the«My Girl Crawfish Beignets» appetizer. I am always skeptical of seafood beignets because I’ve had so many sub-par offerings; especially when they are deep fried into oblivion, But Rocksy’s does them right. The insides are stuffed with chopped crawfish, jalapenos, corn and cheddar cheese. And after they are expertly fried, they are served with a kick a$$ home made remoulade sauce. As much as we wanted to try different menu items, my wife and I both got the chicken and sausage gumbo served in a bread bowl. The gumbo was delicious and that bread bowl was chock full of meat. I’m willing to bet that there was meat in almost every spoon of gumbo. And the bread bowl is a lot more than just a cool vessel in which to serve the gumbo, as I ate nearly half of it before I stopped to leave enough room for dessert. My kid ordered the burger sliders and fortunately for me, he could not eat the last one. Chalk up another great offering as this small burger packed a juicy, flavorful punch. For dessert # 1,(yeah you heard me right, we got 2 desserts) we got the brownie hot fudge sundae. The brownie was moist and delicious, the ice cream tasted home made and the whipped cream was the icing on this«non-cake». Kudos to the clean presentation. I will rightfully refer to dessert # 2 as the piece de résistance, which was the donut bread pudding. This incredible dessert offering is alone worth the trip to Rocksy’s. It’s starts its life as a pastry and is transformed into heaven in a dish. Mike learned this style from an old French chef a long time ago. The«custard style» whisky diplomat sauce is made from egg yolks, butter and cream. However, there is a corn component added that sets it apart from every other style I’ve ever had. Trust me, you have to try it. To be honest, I’m not sure if Mike Gowland is the owner, part owner or only the Chef here. However, what I am certain of is that Rocksy’s will be a huge success because of Mike Gowland and his incredible food. I can hardly wait to go back and try some more.
