Here’s an update on the beer brewing side of things. The home brew aspect of this place had improved dramatically. They now have a much broader selection of grains, a fridge full of hops and yeasts, and a mill so they can mill your grains however you like. Everyone who works here is a brewer and they love to help or just shoot the shit about brewing. It still doesn’t have as much variety as Brew Stock, but for all but they have everything you could possibly need to brew a good beer.

Tiny, but worth the drive out to metairie if you’re interested in brewing beer or growing edibles. Staff is incredibly friendly and exhaustively informative. Great place to go if you like to talk shop or look for suggestions, tips, and tricks

I love this store! Stuff no one else carries in S.E. LA. great organic gardening gear and excellent brewing equipment. I primarily do dirt farming but the availability of some nifty hydroponic gear at an excellent price has me started with one plant using a «dutch bucket» system purchased at LBN. Come spring I plan to use some of their nutrients and equipment as well as copious knowledge to design an aquaponic system. Nutria treats for my dog, 1 gallon small batch brewing equipment, small store, but stuffed with things for the gardening tinkerer.

These folks know their dirt. Heck, they make it themselves! I searched all over town for help with composting – and these guys are the definitive experts. In the end, and with their advice, I chose the path of worm-composting. It’s been over a year, and I haven’t had any problems with the container they sold me(that was custom-made) or with composting. Grant(the owner) was EXTREMELY helpful in getting me started and über-supportive with my endeavor. It’s odd that so many nurseries have nothing but chemicals in their shops and nothing earth-friendly or green. Odd, that is, for places other than here. Laughing Buddha prides itself on being totally green and all-natural.

Great nursery, COMPLETELY organic. Has a chicken coop, rabbit cages, and pigs in the back for compost. Sells mostly in bulk to reduce plastic. Also sells hydroponic equipment and supplies. Only drawback is limited amount of plants. For organic soil and compost it can’t be beat. Owner is very personable and gives great advice, Highly recommended.
