Paperbacks Plus

Absolutely love this place! If I need to find an out of print book this is where I start. I have introduced all my nieces and nephews to this bookstore, so they can experience a real bookstore. I never feel rushed or a number here. This place is a treasure!

Great place to get old paperbacks, even has a few albums in the back. Staff were very friendly!

To be honest I am ashamed I have not previously reviewed this store-​it is a true gem. It is one of those places you don’t go to just run in and get something-​plan on spending a significant amount of time just browsing to find things you didn’t know you couldn’t live without until you saw it on the shelf. It has been around forever and it has always been staffed by people who are both very relaxed and yet somehow seem to really have a passion about their product.
I have not traded things in here for years-​I am exclusively a buyer now-​but if we can be honest with each other (and I feel we can) I used to run a minor racket years ago. I worked for a bookstore in the Mesquite area that would have blowout pricing on art books they couldn’t sell. Once a month I would find an armload that had been marked down to a buck a piece and go sell them to Paperbacks Plus and as mentioned in other reviews they pay a lot more than Half Price. My kids always seemed to appreciate that we got to eat for the next several days after my visits here.
Whenever I find myself in this part of town I still heed the sirens song and make a visit– I can’t recommend highly enough that you do the same if you are a bookworm!

This is one of my favorite bookstores in the area. It just makes me think of bookstores from movies — covered in dust and mystery!
I’ve been coming here for 15+ years. The staff is extremely laid back (fish net shirts and flips flops anyone?), and just the kind of eccentric you like to see in book lovers.
Instead of getting next to nothing for your resale items (like at HalfPrice) at Paperbacks Plus you get half cash and half credit on your own store account. You can apply your credit to half of your total purchase which is already half if not more off of retail price, so you end up paying cash for your items! Phew– that’s a lot of half’s, but maybe you get the idea.
They make very good use of space, and the back of the building is divided up like a house with different rooms accommodating different genres.
Now– a fair warning to all– this is not the place to go If you want new release or mostly current things. This is a store specifically for browsing and finding rare, special books that have been forgotten about.
If you keep that in mind, you’ll be very satisfied with your trip.

Being significantly smaller in size that your mega bookstores, this is a place where you can go and not get lost or feel intimidated if you trip and fall on a stack of books; trust me. :0)
They have a deal where you can sell or trade books in… you’ll have to inquire within…
What you have to realize is, you’re not going to get rich selling books here, but, you will be able to get them off your hands and you’ll get credit towards future purchases of the money. Like I said; ask for details when you visit.
They have a decent set of collectible comic books, cookbooks, novels and children’s books… just look and you’re going to find something great.
The prices are totally cheap… you can splurge here!
With the economy being so tight, why not give the smaller businesses a try for a change; they appreciate your business and your will never be a number.
