I used to absolutely love these apartments, but the last four months have completely changed my perception of them. Just a couple of examples… They now enter the apartments regularly(three times in a month), for things like«routine maintenance» but we haven’t noticed that they have done anything and our requests weren’t completed. They are also now making this a «smoke-free» complex, so if you resign your lease you are agreeing not to smoke in your apartment(which is fine), but also not on your patio or even in your car while in the parking lot. To me, they have become invasive and overly controlling about what you can and cannot do in the space you are paying to rent from them.

I resided at the Wyndhaven Apartments twice, once from July 2009 through January 2011 and then from May 2011 through present. My husband and I will be moving this upcoming weekend. I thought this was a nice complex with wonderful staff but came to find out otherwise. Last week my husband called me at work to let me know we had received a notice on our door that management will not be renewing our lease; we were going month to month. We called the office and were told that they do not need to give us a reason. Well, no reason? We have always paid our rent on time and are paying an extra $ 70 a month to go month to month. So the complex is making money. Just prior to getting this notice I had called the corporate office, Al Angelo Company, and spoke to the manager in Vancouver Washington who covers the Wyndhaven. I spoke to her regarding the main swimming pool. My concern being that the pool was closed Memorial Day. I had company over and had planned to use the grill to cook steaks. At 12:30p we went to the pool. It was locked, being cleaned for routine maintenance. So, we went to get charcoal and used the smaller pool. This had happened a second time the same week. I had bought steaks and the sides on Sunday, had the food ready for company that had come in from Seattle on Tuesday. Again, the pool was drained of water and closed. I wound up taking my company to dinner. The pool was not open again until Saturday. By this time my food was not any good and I ended up throwing away $ 60 worth of food. I explained this to the person at corporate and she stated that, «All pools close for routine maintenance and that this is just inconvenience.» I told her that four days in three digit heat is more than an inconvenience and how I lost food. I had stated that from a consumer’s point of view this is unacceptable and is she going to take money off my rent for wasted food. Apparently not. I also reminded her that when the pool is closed this also closed the electric grill and the gym. But it just did not seem to matter. This also brought up the question of, «Is maintenance trained to care for these pools properly.» I had a condominium for seven years, used the pool every day from April through September and not once was that pool closed. Another issue is the pool rules. The is a sign at both pools that clearly state the rule, no glass, no alcohol, no smoking, running, no eating in the pool, no animals, etc. This clearly does not matter. People leave their cigarette butts and glassware out. I have also gone a swim at the back pool and a woman was there with two children, which is cool, and her dog. Why have rules. Anyways, others have gotten this notice. They have not renewed with another person because of the tenants housekeeping habits are not up to par to the Wynhaven’s standards. These renters were notified that their lease will not be renewed and they will be put on a three month probationary period, their rent remaining the same as if they signed a lease. Their apartment will be inspected once a month for a year. After three months they can sign a lease. Lastly, an elderly woman got her notice to renew her lease. Her rent was being raised $ 50 a month. She asked the office is she can have a one bedroom apartment. The complex told her that there is a waiting list. Oh please. The woman already lives there and there are two open units, mine and the unit upstairs the people have moved. There are other issues, including mold. Enough said. Renter Beware.
