We’ve lived here two years so far in a 2br /2ba townhouse style apartment. The rent is affordable, and they don’t charge for cats(usual pet limits per household apply). Reviews on other sites mention a scorpion problem, but imo they have a pretty good handle on it. We’ve only seen our cats eat maybe five in two years. The complex is generally clean. For our 1000 sq ft place, our srp bill has never been over ~$ 130. We rarely use over 35 kWh of power, and keep it at ~75f in the summer when we’re home. I chalk it up to the walls actually having insulation. One of the best features of our apartment is the tile floor downstairs. Give me a mop over a vacuum any day. And, the floor stays cool in the summer. Nice on bare feet. The management office has always been friendly to us. Whenever they need to do apartment inspections(eg, smoke alarm testing, fire extinguisher replacement, etc) we get notice well in advance. Negatives: When we first moved in, it seemed like nobody’s cards worked for the gate, including ours. It took a while, but it’s fixed now. CenturyLink is effectively the only provider of high speed internet(the alternative provider is slow as mud; 5 mbits/s is not fast). The kitchen is tiny, the bathrooms are tiny, but we knew it going in and we make do. The smoke alarm near the kitchen is way too sensitive and goes off before bacon is even crispy. Minor complaints overall. POST-MOVE-OUTEDIT We moved to north phoenix because of a new job. We sorely miss our apartment at San Fernando. Move out negatives: We scoured the tile. Scrubbed the walls. Repeat for each bathroom and bedroom. And then we were charged $ 120 from our security deposit for cleaning. My wife was literally on her hands and knees assaulting the grout with a toothbrush, and we still got charged. We complained, they said we had the minimum amount deducted. Supposedly everyone has $ 120 deducted, non-negotiable. My advice: do your basic cleaning, but don’t throw out your back trying to get your deposit back. This is an automatic one star loss. Move out positives: The rest of the move out was incredibly smooth. I felt like we were kind of a trouble case, but the front office never let on. I was hired out of the blue right as we were renewing our lease. It would’ve been a hundred mile a day commute. The folks at the front office were incredibly patient and good natured with our last minute plan changes. Dealing with San Fernando was the least stressful thing about moving(until we didn’t get our full deposit back.). This easily adds a star. So we’re back at four stars. I’d definitely give it another half star if I could.
