My wife and I just started RE-collecting and appreciating the old school sounds from our youth. We’ve been here several times and have never had any trouble finding tons of cool music. Just before Christmas 2015 I even came home with a beautiful copy of zeppelin 1. Screw the big box stores… this place has everything you need.

What’s not to like about Asylum Records? I took my 16 year old daughter over there so she could add to her vinyl collection. We both browsed for a couple of hours, with me strolling down memory lane and my daughter picking up a few records for her collection. Great selection, friendly service. Tons of Kiss memorabilia, thanks to the fact that the owner spent some time on the road with the band. Best of all? The blue couch. If you’re in Mesa and have a fetish for vinyl, do yourself a favor and stop in.

For the area, this store has the best records. You won’t find the best of the best, but you can find some diamonds in the rough if you look hard enough.

Quite possibly one of the coolest shops in AZ. Super friendly owners that will help you find anything! They even found an album I’ve been looking for in another store and is having it shipped here. Oh, and there’s an incredibly cute cat that hangs around the shop! If you’re allergic to cats, don’t worry, I am too and I was fine inside(very clean shop). Also, ask about the blue couch!

I LOVE this shop! Unbelievable selection and outstanding service. I was expecting to find just some random vinyl, but this shop has a huge inventory along with t shirts, posters, concert memorabilia and so much more! There is something there for everyone, and a «must» for serious collectors.

I have been collecting vinyl records in the valley for over 15 years now, and I think the pricing and selection at Asylum is quite good. There are some good deals to be found. The store is clean, comfortable and well organized and decorated. They have a new air conditioning unit installed, so the store is very cool for pleasant record hunting. I think this store is now as good or better than any of the other Valley record stores, and I shop them all. There are two nice new leather couch listening stations, for previewing records or cds, which I really like. Asylum will now be on my weekly record hunting rounds, where I hit three or four stores to see what new records have come in.

The owner Scott sent me a message saying that my reviews contradict themselves which they don’t. Here’s how it goes: A customer takes the vinyl he would like to purchase up to Scott who then looks on Ebay or Discogs and tells you what he will sell them to you for. A record which Scott wants me to pay 25 bucks for can be had for 7 or 10 bucks at the most at places like The Record Room or Revolver. Scott also said in his message that I should come down to the store and tell him these things face to face. Is he being threatening or trying to win over a customer? That’s no way to win business

This is a great record store. I am from L.A. and have lived in Phoenix for several years. I have been to every single record store in the valley and always excited to hear about the new ones, when they open up, as this is a dying art and not everyone appreciates value of a local record store nowadays. Today I stopped by to check out this place and it is definitely one of my favorite stores now. Selection is very broad, despite what it appears to be on the pictures(a heavy metal store). There are plenty of Prog rock, Jazz, Blues, Big Band, Hard Rock and international to name a few genre. Prices are reasonable when compared to local stores and cheaper than ebay for sure. There are tons of memorabilia and picture vinyls. What makes this store a true gem in my opinion, is the owner Scott. He truly enjoys music of ALL kinds. He more importantly is a genuine man with passion for his store and products. Going to the store is like going to your buddy’s place and listen to some awesome music and have the chance to shop. :) They clearly appreciate customers and their business, and do what it takes to deliver customer satisfaction, again another rarity nowadays!

I used to shop at Rockzone which was a great record store. Unfortunately it closed down. Scott opened up his own place in the same strip, and it’s even better than Rockzone was. It has a great selection, and Scott really knows his music. He doesn’t just sit behind the counter and scowl at you as you shop. He’s more than happy to help you find the record you’re looking for, and will suggest something else that you may enjoy listening to. I highly recommend that you check this place out, and check them out often. They get new records every week.
