I have been waiting to go back through AZ to post my review of this store. I went in on my way to my first military training ever. I thought Id show up with my gear. I came here and gave them my list of stuff I needed. What I didnt know at the time was that I left with the wrong PT shirts. I also didnt know they charged the same price for their used ACUs as Ft Benning did for new ones. They were of no help with my boots either. They didnt explain the difference at all. I bought some crappy winter boots for summer in Georgia. I spent over $ 400 on my gear there. A lot of it is useless now(like the boots and PT shirts). Now Im heading to a mobilization at Ft Hood and wanted to make sure this business knows that they were awful with their recommendations. I suggest staying away from this place. I spent about $ 150 on useless gear and about $ 200 on used gear I could’ve purchased new for the same price.

I’ve been here one time, and I had a great experience. I was taking a weekend trip to Jerome on a motorcycle, and was in need of a military duffel(luggage marketed as motorcycle accessories sell upward of $ 100 and look exactly like military supply). I knew I wanted the backpack style duffel, and was guided to their location directly after walking inside. Once I saw their stock, I was able to find two huge bins of the style I wanted in used condition. Not only did the used stock look way rad, but they were priced at $ 19.50(11 bucks cheaper than new condition). Don’t get me wrong, this place doesn’t have everything(didnt see much camping supply or survival/defense literature). My favorite is still The Miller’s Surplus in Tucson, AZ. But, considering I live in the valley, this was the next best thing. I found what I needed in less than five minutes under my anticipated budget. Will be returning.

Allied Surplus has an atrocious return policy; one that does not consider common sense, customer service, or critical thinking. I understand that a business can make up their own rules for returns, but *have a reason* for the rules that are implemented. You want to keep someone from abusing the return policy like buying an item, using it, and then trying to ask for a refund? No one would dismiss that; it’s prudent and illustrates business acumen. Trying to return something a couple of days later, brand new, never worn, never washed with tags? That’s heresy! because«we’re a small business.» How sad when a big box chain can offer better customer service and common sense policies over that of a family owned store. The 350 pound mouth breather at the counter, Brandon, certainly was capable of pointing at an inconspicuous 8×11 faded piece of paper taped on the wall and a 11×0.25 inch sticker at the counter. Mind you, I came into the store specifically looking for the return policy. Otherwise, you will easily miss it. It’s printed on the receipt? Surely you jest! That’s the adult version of ‘no tag backs.’ You had the same argument with other customers? Then one would think the policy should be prominently(you know, the antonym of inconspicuous) displayed at the counter after several complaints by your own admission. After I carefully and slowly articulated my points, the seething expression on Brandon’s face — you know the one: the«I am not intelligent enough to answer your questions, so I will continue to breath heavily due to my diabeetus» I began to talk down to the sad sack after common sense and reasonable solutions were exhausted. Fools quickly draw my ire and the staff here take no time to balance customer service with an outdated, draconian store policy. It must be nice to have a continual stream of military business, because with the attitudes and policies currently in place, the doors would(rightfully so) shudder. Carry on.

They have a lot of wonderful stuff here for the military. Prices seem reasonable and it’s quality products from what I can tell. My husband came here because he wanted some military boots for hiking. He simply loves his boots. Our son, daughter, and nephew got personalized dog tags. And they have a really great patch selection, as well as different types of boots, shoes, military wear, and different kinds of packs. They have other stuff, but I don’t remember.

It has taken me sometime to think about what I’m going to post about Allied Surplus. I have bought a few items here and being in the military, it has helped me perform my job. With that, I rarely ask if businesses do Military discounts. Usually the time I ask is when I’m going to purchase a pricey item which is most often, buying military gear such as boots, packs etc. and if a business does, I show a lot of gratitude and appreciation for their support. I was going to purchase a couple of items here and as I was about to check out, I asked if they did military discounts and I was answered with a question, «Are you active duty?». I responded I’m Active National Guard(As in I attend all my scheduled training) and I was told they do not give discounts for National Guard Members, Only Active Duty Military. I want to make it clear, the money isn’t an issue. At the counter, I decided not to purchase my items and decided to go to a different store to purchase my 5.11 gear from a store that supports active duty members, national guard members and reserve of all branches. My blood is red as my battle buddies who are active duty but apparently at this surplus, it seems we’re different. I use to recommend all national guard, marine reserve, army reserve, navy reserve and air guard members to come to this store in the east valley because if you think about it, there isn’t any active duty military bases reasonably near by to go to a PX. Closest is Luke AFB and Fort Huachuca. The owner of Allied Surplus has the God given right to run his/her business the way he/she wants and I respect that, but for now on I will recommend my battle buddies to go to a different store.

Great place for tactical gear: boots, uniforms, patches, backpacks, vests, etc. However, they have a much smaller selection of camping items and very little survival supplies. The store is more suited towards uniforms and accessories, for the rest I went to Bass Pro Shop.

Awesome store. Great service and very organized! We were told that they may not have enough time to complete our name badges with Velcro and as we were leaving they were DONE! The store is highly organized and very clean. So happy to not have to leave the East Valley for our military equipment needs!!!

One of the best military surplus stores on the east side of the valley. It has every thing you are looking for from a large selection of ammo containers and 5.11 gear to uniforms and patches.
