Wonderful selection of violins, violas, cellos, and basses. Being a beginner, I was impressed with the interest they showed in explaining the differences among the various violins I ws looking at. Series 100 to 400. They showed me the differences both structurally and sonically. Although not inexpensive, I’d rather buy quality once than by cheap several times before I find quality.

Being a professional violinist, I’m long overdue for giving a shout-out to KC Strings. My string quartet rehearses in the music studio on a weekly basis, fall through spring. One of our members teaches there, and they’re kind enough to let us use the stands and rehearsal space whenever we request. All of the interactions I’ve had with the staff have been very kind and helpful. Their lessons studio is legit too — if you’re a serious student and need a violin teacher, try to get on the waiting list for Bob’s studio. A few months ago, I needed an appraisal of my instruments for our insurance; Anton Krutz personally helped me out. His charge was very reasonable, and he threw in appraisals for my bows at no extra charge. The reason I’ve hesitated to write a review is I’ve never had any serious repair work done here(only bow rehairs), nor have I personally purchased an instrument. However, I have enough students and colleagues with these instruments to know they are high quality; one of my students just purchased a Krutz violin from KC Strings, and it sounds lovely. Quality makes all the difference when learning an instrument — I teach for a living, and I’ve seen it all — you get what you pay for, whether that’s paying fifty bucks on Craigslist that sounds like a box with some strings(and might or might not stay in tune five minutes), or making an investment through a shop that only carries instruments that sing.

I have the best cello ever and it was made by Anton Krutz at K. C Strings.

The craftsmanship that goes into KC Strings’ instruments is unsurpassed by any other shops in the area! I recommend this shop for any musicians, from students to professionals.

I don’t know jack about stringed instruments, except guitar. But it didn’t take long to begin appreciating KC Strings over in Shawnee. The shop specializes in stringed instruments. With no shortage of services, KC Strings is also the only American maker of professional grade violas, violins, cellos and bases. It’s really a one stop string shop. Say that three times. They’ll sell, repair, rent and even give you private lessons. The staff knows their strings. I quickly overheard one of the assistants is a student at Julliard. Everyone in the shop is eager to assist or simply enjoying their job by playing the instruments. They also emphasize their ability to work out financing options. Thankfully I had a sidekick who knew the difference between a viola and violin and that brought about some great conversations with the staff. I grabbed a brochure as we headed out and it says«Together We Create.» I couldn’t agree more.
