Shirley’s Restaurant & Pizza

No, no, no! Did take out. Very expensive. Nothing special. Not a whole lot of food. Disappointed.

I have given Shirley’s three tries. The food is very bland and lacks much to be desired. The only food that is any good at this place is the Pizza, but even getting a salad you would think could not be difficult. But it is here. My salad had very little lettuce and a ton of cabbage, yuck! The bread sticks were just terrible and had no taste to them. Must have sat in the freezer for a decade.
I recommend Shirley’s to watch Kitchen Nightmare’s and perhaps learn a bit about flavoring their food.

There have been a LOT of pizza places in Mentor, OH and coming from Columbus to visit my parents, needless to say my pizza craving went unsatisfied at home until my sister and I found this place. I recall when I first went in the nice lady who was our server commented how it use to be an old restaurant but new owners took over. I’d never been to the previous but at the time, Christmas shopping (yes, this was this past Christmas) got my sister and I hungry so we decided to give it a whirl.
Boy am I glad we did!!!
Pizza problem in Mentor SOLVED!
It’s a quaint little restaurant, probably holding no more than 50 people, with cute little «typical» pizza place décor «red checkered» table cloths and such. Everyone who I’ve encountered there is very nice and the pizza is AHH-​MAZING. Homemade dough, homemade sauce… c’mon folks, it doesn’t get more authentic than that.
I even brought my mother the next time I went and she was just as ecstatic as we were. I get cravings for this place all the time. It was so good the first time my sis and I went we decided to get our parents a gift certificate then and there on the spot. They went back and had pizza and pasta and they said the pasta was delicious as well. Price wise, too, you cannot beat it.
I certainly hope these people are around for a long time or my stomach will be very mad about not having phenomenal pizza in it.
I enjoy seeing local owners and local businesses come about and would love to see this place keep on truckin’. Go visit them. You won’t be sorry I promise!
