Perkins is a popular chain concentrated in Minnesota and Wisconsin, but foreign to a Chicago native like me! They have a large breakfast menu and basic soup, salads and sandwiches. The concept — pricing and atmosphere is similar to most fast casual restaurants. Service was speedy and friendly on a weekday lunch hour. I started with a cup of Chicken Noodle Soup and went with the Honey Mustard Chicken Salad upon recommendation from the waitress(substituting the crispy chicken with grilled chicken). Quality of the meat was good, but the soup was starchy. The salad was hearty with marinated strips of chicken with green peppers, tomatoes, onions, bacon, cheese and lettuce. Overall, ingredients were fresh and restaurant was relaxing grounds for a laid-back lunch.

What can be said? It’s a Perkins and Perkins restaurants are great! My favorite thing about them is you get so much food that you can’t possibly eat it all. And, of course, the prices are very reasonable.

Disappointing. For starters i have to say this is some of the worst breakfast food i have ever had. You get an order of 3 eggs and it looks more 3 baby/child sized eggs and the pancakes are about 7 inch across so eating 3 of them so a really easy feet. And they come on huge plates so they look even smaller. The sausage was just a cheap kielbasa that taste just like you would expect. The Hash browns i had were quite delicious and the tap water was nice and cold. The service was very friendly but extremely slow. I got my food the same time another table got theirs that came in 20 minutes after i did and there was only 6 other couples in the restaurant. I have had bad experience before with burgers and chicken sandwiches but i figured they couldn’t possible mess up breakfast. This will be the last time i attend any Perkins but on the upside they did a few new upgrades to the décor. 2⁄5 Cause my other half liked the omelet.

I’ve been here twice and always wonder why I put myself through it. Service is always horribly slow… People walk out with lack or wait staff. Refills were non existent even after reminding 2x. Food is typical Perkins but the burger had bread and butter pickles which ruined the taste of it. Save your sanity and visit one of the other great restaurants on Menomonie.

So, Perkins family restaurant was possibly my worst breakfast experience I have ever had. Driving home to Chicago we decided to stop Here instead of McDonald’s, boy did we make the wrong choice. Not only did I wait a half hour to sit when I saw over a dozen open tables. It took an hour for them to get me my food and once it got to me it was cold. Not only that but once I started to eat I found a hair in my food! Needless I am on my way to McDonald’s right now.

Our service was good but my husband’s food was really dry. I tried a salad that was okay if plain iceberg lettuce is appealing to you — it did have a great variety of toppings. It’s a safe bet since a Perkins is a Perkins.
