It’s such a shame it’ll be closing in 3 days! My family and I are grabbing our last Foster Freeze meal tonight. But here is a long over due review. My daughter takes dance with MPAoD which has a studio next door to Foster’s Freeze. After dance on Fridays we picked up a delicious creamy vanilla soft serve dipped in chocolate with a side of fries… My daughter loves dance but knew come Friday or even weekend rehearsals meant a little walk to Foster’s Freeze. The appearance wasn’t much too look at, but everyone who is anyone knows that the food is sweet comfortable goodness. We will miss our little routine but that’s the price we all have to pay for the«progressive» living climate the Silicon Valley is.

I used to come here after every doctors visit with my brothers and my mom. A large vanilla cone dipped in chocolate always took the pain away from a shot! My mom came here a lot when she was a kid and she’s always telling me stories about it. It’s such a cute little spot with tables on the side of the building. It’s really sad that it’s closing at the end of the month. The next closest one is in San Jose which is too far to go regularly.

Foster’s Freeze is a delightfully unpretentious place. Getting ice cream here is a religious experience… especially if you’ve been on a silent retreat. You will be saying grace. It’s your regular all-American diner. While they don’t specialize in ice cream, it sweetens the day in Menlo Park!

Best soft serve I have had. I took my family here after a day at the pool. The kids ate up the ice cream as it was great.

The food is great and the workers are really nice and fast. They have the best shakes and waffle fries. I love that you can call in orders because sometimes the line can be really long, especially during lunch time. I definitely recommend this place is you’d like some affordable American food!

Stopped here while exploring Menlo Park and it was exactly what I was craving, yummy fried food and great milkshakes. Obviously not a place to frequent if you’re on a diet. Only wish I woukdve tried their signature freeze, but I guess I’ll have to go back :) prices are what you’d expect. Nice little outdoor seating area. I do wish they accepted credit cards :/cash only unfortunately.

LOVE their burgers and ice cream. This location has been here for years and everyone goes here on a hot day to get ice cream. No indoor seating, only outdoor tables.

Can someone post the hours this place is open? I’ve been by twice on weekends during the day and it’s been closed both times. Are they closed Sundays? time(s)? Bueller?!! I’d love me some tasty dipped cones or a Twister. Help me out Unilocal! ~Ms. Ali

Been eating here for years and love the crisp fried burrito with hot sauce. Yummy! Tonight I had the chili dog with onions. This chili dog was the best I’ve had in I can’t even remember how many years. The bun was fresh and tasty. The hot dog was so good and also fresh, but the chili, OMG the chili, was perfection. Unlike other chili dogs I’ve tried, this one had so much flavor and absolutely no grease. Eat your heart out Pinks! Can’t wait to have another one.

3.5 stars? Really? Yea I don’t trust Unilocal anymore. I am eating a big boss and it is like I am eating a dream.

I have a soft spot for these old fashioned places. Love the desserts(choco dipped cone is my fav) and the burgers here. I’m all for supporting local businesses like these! The staff is friendly, fast, and the food is still awesome! A true gem in Menlo Park!

Love it! Fosters Freez has been around for ages. Even when my grandma was a teenager. Love their chocolate dipped cones! The cone isn’t dipped, the actual ice cream part is! Can’t find that anywhere else in Menlo Park. The people who work there are super nice, but a little hard to understand. Just be patient, and enjoy!

These are all pretty much the same. I got a vanilla cone dipped in chocolate and it was obviously amazing. They had more options than I thought they would! Would have liked a frozen yogurt option :)

I walked over for lunch the other day. I ordered the double-decker, fries, and a Pepsi. This review is based on that. I haven’t had their ice-cream. The burger was tasty but WAY overcooked. I new that they’d overcook it but I figured they’d at least leave a little juice behind. Nope, the cook is very good at getting every last ounce of moisture out of the burger before serving it. The fries were great. I loved them. I also appreciated the fast, friendly service.

I appreciate this Fosters Freeze for what it is: a cheap, unhealthy walk-up restaurant with tasty burgers, chicken sandwiches, and waffle fries, but most importantly: amazing deserts. I often come here just for a Reeses Twister, but they have added several more deserts recently that I need to try. I grew up down the street, and love the fact that the same man and wife have been running the place for at least 13 years. I have never seen anyone else working, and I have no reason to complain about them. They aren’t much for conversation, but are certainly hard-working. Unless you are watching your weight extremely closely, I recommend that you check out this Menlo Park landmark(it’s been around since the 40’s or 50’s) for a quick, tasty lunch or a fantastic desert. They are closed on Sundays, only because they do not receive much business.

My all-time favorite ice cream treat is a mixed twist cone. Foster Freeze’s inexpensive tasty soft serve satisfies as good as in my treasured childhood memories. The little retro building makes me smile and the ample parking makes it too easy not to stop each time I’m passing through Menlo Park. My only complaint – really a huge disappointment – is that they are closed on Sunday! Isn’t that just wrong?

I like the ice cream but refuse to eat here any longer because they were jerks about stopping my car for 5 minutes in their giant, empty parking lot. Off to Yogurtland in Palo Alto or Baskin Robbins up the street instead!

This place is good for a quick snack, whether it’s savory or sweet food that you’re craving. The soft serve ice cream, whatever form you get it in, is quite tasty and creamy. The waffle fries are really good — they have«curly fry”-type seasoning… mmmm so crunchy & so flavorful. There are a few picnic tables outside for you to sit while scarfing down your decadent treats.

Arnold Schwarzenegger played a villain named Mr. Freeze in one of the Batman movie. I took his advice and needed to «Chill out» with a brain-freeze craving and obsession by landingto Foster’s Freeze. It’s located in a residential neighborhood behind the lengthy El Camino Real and near the Cal Train Station. This place also serves burgers, sandwiches and other snacks, but I ate elsewhere prior to the visit. So I was just here for one of their tasty soft-serve. I might try the food soon, but I was into the frozen treats. I ordered the Oreo Twister. The $ 3.75 specially made frozen treat had Vanilla-flavor soft-serve with crumble bits of Oreo cookies in a 12 ounce cup. The two tag team sounds like great mixture. The authentic Vanilla Soft-serve was very creamy, and since I love Oreo Cookies, it appears that I got shorted with the amount of bits and pieces given to me. Nevertheless, the frozen treat was very good. There are only a few outdoor benches at this location, but the people just sitting there without any intent to buy anything or dine needs to «get a life». It’s a «Cash only» food place, but there is a Washington Mutual Bank and US Bank down the street on El Camino Real.
