This review is for their Mortgage operation. GOELSEWHEREPEOPLE! We got the best rate on a jumbo loan through BOA through a corporate discount but despite the horror stories decided that money is money and we’d work with them anyway. Big mistake. Gordon Ling was a super polite and nice guy, but as their VP and Senior Mortgage Loan Officer doing the actual loan processing, he stunk. He was continuously losing attachments that we emailed them(we’d just forward them again), mismanaging his underwriting staff in TX and other locations who were processing our paperwork(who barely spoke english), coming up with kooky last minute requests for documents, etc etc. Among the most egregious was that up until 2 hours before the closing he couldn’t tell us if we needed to come in with $ 2k or $ 12k in cash — I mean come on, isn’t this your job to do math?! The whole thing almost unraveled and we almost lost 2 houses. When we told him we needed an exact number, he mustered up the nerve to get personal and tell us to ask our parents for the money. Way over the line buddy. WAYYYY over. Profit profit profit was all he saw. The bumbling buffoon. In the end it was our title company person who saved the day. We’ve since cancelled our checking and savings accts with BOA because of this. It’s too bad they get to make more $$ off us through our mort loan. Ugh.

I want to review the online banking! It is HORRIBLE! How can you possibly go paperless if everything you want to look up is no longer available!!! The searches are very limited and I cannot view the checks that I deposited that they took a photo of in the first place, so where is it now? Did you already delete it? Why? Don’t even take the photo or scan it if you are not going to offer it to me on my online banking. Also, the screens time out often and I need to press things multiple times to access the correct information. Update to previous fury! 2-8-2011 Tax time and once again I have to say how much I HATE the online banking portion of Bank of America, just get rid of it, don’t offer the service if you can’t manage to do it properly!!! You can only go back 3 statements, really that’s it?! You can’t afford to have a server that maintains more information? Blahh… enough, I need to find a better system!

I was in the bank deposit a couple of check. During the transaction, the teller Toni tried to sell me on a low APR credit card BofA is offering. I told her I didn’t want to have a credit card but she keep insist on the benefit of it. I told her again I am just not interested. She flip her face and told me that’s fine and I can keep using my worse credit card. I complained to their assistant manager but he didn’t say anything. You know what, I think I’ll NEVER get a BofA credit card. Judging from the attitude they have, this bank is going down south. Might not be the best place to put my money. Worse customer service ever.

If you want an awesome mortgage broker, look no more. Bob Branch(Mortgage Officer) is not just a nice guy, he is dang smart and also incredibly great to work with. It was our first home purchase, and his patience as well as accessibility was simply superb. We had been considering a broker in SF, but she was not close to Bob in terms of honesty, availability and — best of all — rates. Give Bob a call — he’ll get you a very competitive rate with great service. He is located at the BoA branch on El Camino in Menlo Park but covers a wide area — he helped us in S.F.
