The BEST place for some southern cookin on Main St! They have amazing lunch specials and if you go in, the food is all there ready to serve and they are so busy that it is always fresh! One word: DRESSING!!! They could try to expand more with their delivery service, when I worked downtown they were quick to get an attitude if we didn’t want(need, there was only 3 of us) more than 3 dishes delivered.

Fried Catfish was perfect! Also LOVE that they have giant vats of Lemonade, Sweet Tea, and Red Kool-Aid. All super sweet. Mac and cheese is on point and served piping hot. Mashed potatoes and brown gravy were excellent. I normally don’t eat brown gravy(white only usually), but their’s has made me rethink my gravy elitism. Simple food done well without breaking the bank.

Good home cooking cafeteria style. Fried pork chops, fried chicken, ribs, smothered with gravy or not. Cornbread, greens, black eyed peas, all the good stuff. A good solid meat and three place. Open for lunch only, nice folks, go grab a bite, cheap.

Good place to grab a quick lunch. The tag was super helpful and nice. The food was good and was a cafeteria style set up. I had the rib lunch special that come with 2 sides I your choice. I chose mac and cheese and turnip greens. I also had a slice of sweet potato pie.

Atmosphere is quiet. Very nice staff. Mac n cheese was good, so was The mash potatoes. Chicken was extremely dry and actually tough to eat, probably because it was sitting under a heat lamp all day. I most likely would not come back.

Foods are good. Order the pork chop with mac and cheese, pinto bean. Price should be included or visible rather asking them.

The food here is solid if you’re looking for hot southern good for pretty cheap and relatively quick. My one complaint is that this place lacks an identity. Is it cafeteria style food? Sure but you couldn’t tell based on the signs outside for new items(chicken fingers, chicken sandwich, chicken salad) when you get inside and consider the cafeteria option there’s no mention of the new items they advertise outside. When I asked about it the cafeteria server looked at me like I was crazy. A manager had to tell me to goto the register. Even so. There’s no real discernible menu. On the cafeteria side there are paper signs taped about but I couldn’t tell which sign was for what(the sign for wings was above the smothered chicken). Fried chicken was really good. Add hot sauce. Mac and cheese was basic. Fried catfish is solid as well as the potato salad This place could use a spruce up to better show what the options are so customers are baffled when they walk in. Now that I’ve been here and know the drill I’ll probably be back since it’s the closest joint to the convention center.

Stuck downtown this week for jury duty. This was the first place I passed for lunch and seemed to be a place I would like so I stopped in. Small cafeteria setup(which made for a quick meal) with desserts first, then meats and sides. I opted for a smothered pork chop, greens, macaroni and cornbread. Everything was pretty good. Nothing stood out above anything else but I would eat the same meal again if in the area. Good home cooking at a reasonable $ 6.99 for meat and 2.
