Tops Bar-B-Q

Society has many choices for drive throughs, from McDonald’s, booger king, to Chick Fil’A, but there’s also this fast food gem of a place, Top’s BBQ. As we heard from the locals, «it is a staple of the south.» Well, they are partly correct if you believe ‘half-​truths’. By gosh what do you mean, all right… think about, a fast food BBQ chain? Critiquing a chain is like judging every chip in a Pringles canister. Either way, there’s enough powder flavor to maintain some semblace of decency, yet its still Pringles. Get it? Luckily Top’s has relegated themselves in theory to the BIG BOYS, nonetheless. This ain’t a lifeless, on-​land-​dying-​fish, cheap burger joint though. Ronald McDonald is obviously a sociopath, always lying to people. The meat at Top’s is as expected, quick, ready to order and surprisingly pleasant. The pulled pork wasn’t dry. That exceeded expectations in of itself. Sides were OK. Pickle chips, out of a bag and crispy tasty fries to dip in dope-​ass sauce. Try the spicy one, it’ll boost your labedo. I guess it could be a supplement to Viagra. Either way, if I’m driving past, and see a Top’s, and don’t want to stop, I’ll pull up in that drive through. No hesitation, well, with the already stated considerations. I ain’t no liar like Ronald!

Not the friendliest staff, but Tops is really the tops in barbecue! Definitely a must do in Memphis! Vinegary sauce but thick too

This place is divu and small there’s outdoor seating and very little indoor seating but the people waiting for the food in the line outside may call worthwhile
There’s not too much parking so you have to get here when you can.

Ah welcome to Memphis, it’s been a while. Between the arguing of the employees; the announcement by the cashier that it was going to be a while because the cook and help had stepped out to argue; and the missing sandwich from my to go order, I would recommend someplace else, any place else.

We were a big group that ordered a variety of stuff. The main thing was Memphis BBQ Ribs. We were all disappointed.
I’m giving it an extra star for not drowning the ribs in bbq sauce adn for being meaty, and because I can see its local appeal. It’s just not where you want to go if you want Memphis BBQ. I’ve never had Memphis BBQ, but I’ve had what I’m told is a horrible version of it from some franchise chain in California, and it wasn’t as bad as this stuff.
I’m giving it another star for the Southern Hospitality that it did have, despite the lunchtime rush.

Always a great Tops. They now sell French fries. Just got back from a week in Las Vegas and my first stop was this Tops for some awesome Memphis BBQ. I think I might tear up!

Near U of M Park Avenue Campus, I’ve been to this Top’s location several times. As always, great BBQ.
