I first found out about this uh-MAZING event when I was still a tourist, checking out the city before moving there for college. My mom and I hopped on the trolly(which was totally charming to us out-of-towners) and checked out the awesome art scene that Memphis has to offer. This was a great way for us to get to know the city a little bit better and showed us the hospitality of the local artists. Fast forward to me actually living in Memphis and making this a monthly adventure of mine(I even ended up interning for one of the galleries)! I think this is a wonderful way to show off the South Main neighborhood to people who live out in the suburbs, visitors, and people who may be new to the city; a FREE event, awesomely talented artists(with beautiful art to peruse), wine, snacks, and a wonderfully underrated neighborhood to explore and you have got one special mixture! Not to mention, the galleries and artists involved are worth the trip downtown even if you’re not going as a part of the trolley tour; these folks are as good as it gets: friendly, talented, and wonderful conversationalists. What are you waiting for? Go on a trolley tour already!!!

This may be the smartest thing Memphis has ever created. What a great way for locals, newbies and guests to get familiarized with an awesomely historical area of Memphis(and my personal favorite part of this city.) I have had the pleasure of meeting and networking with quite a few amazing individuals through this event. Seeing as how it only happens once a month(the last Friday of every month to be exact) I always have to mark it on my calendar so it doesn’t slip by. Yes, I have attended about 4 times now, and it never gets old. Why, you ask? Let me list the reasons why: a) This event is free– and«free» includes the trolley ride, wine and tasty apps and treats(drinking on the trolley = fabulous!) 2) There are some amazing businesses on this trolley tour that you probably wouldn’t find otherwise d) There are hella cool people who take this tour, and they offer up a wide array of convo (If you caught my Home Alone reference in the above listing MAJOR cool points to you) There really is no excuse for you to not get your butt over to this event. It’s a shame to ignore it. I always make sure to let visitors know of its existence, simply because it is a free way to take in a bunch of neat, local, trendy spots throughout this gem of a city. Hope to see you in September!

I love this event! Held the last Friday of every month, rain or shine, all year long, the shops in the South Main Historic District welcome you to this popular local event. You’ll find art galleries, restaurants and specialty shops, most of which offer complementary wine and cheese. And from 6 to 9 pm, the trolley rides are free. In fact, this whole event is free. How cool is that? This is a great way to enjoy this trendy part of town and take in some local flavor. Don’t miss it!
