I went here yesterday to place a to go order. Walked to cash register to place an order and 4 workers walked past the check out counter and did not acknowledge any customers waiting in line to place to go orders. Two people came out and looked right in my face and then started counting customers who were seated. I bought a groupon for this place and immediately requested a refund. Had gone here before and experienced a long wait time but thought I’d give it another try. When I first went they did not list the seasonings used for their vegetables, but yesterday I saw they changed the menu and listed the seasonings. When i firsr went I specifically asked if they seasoned with PORK and the server told me no. Well I saw yesterday also that they not only have terrible customer service, but also have no knowledge of their menu. The freaking item I bought was cooked with neckbones!!! So That also pissed me off to see that yesterday! So give it a try if you want but be prepared to get ignored and lied to!

I was mostly ignored the entire time I was there. They were busy but other tables were waited on without having to ask for anything. I had the pork chop and it was dry. The macaroni and cheese looked like they cooked macaroni and then added shredded cheese. My husband had the salmon croquettes and they were bad. The only that was delicious was the hot water cornbread. It was suppose to come with my food but after waiting 20 minutes I had to get another waitress to bring it to me. I will not be returning.

I tried this place after seeing a Groupon advertising their buffet breakfast. I have to say my time there was okay. I had the buffet breakfast which is an interesting experience. The premise makes sense. However, their execution of said premise could use some improvement. For around $ 7.99 you can enjoy an «all you can eat» breakfast. Their menu includes traditional breakfast foods such as omelets, biscuits and gravy, fruit and crème(for an additional cost), sausage, etc. And also, chicken & waffles. The selection of food is decent. And much better quality than one would find at… let’s say, Shoney’s. But I digress… In this classy establishment, you seat yourself. Then the«buffet» begins! Everything is made fresh to order on the buffet. They ask that you start by ordering no more than 4 items. I started with fried eggs, chicken and waffles, and biscuits and gravy. Let me tell you, I still have dreams about the gravy. Seasoned and delicious. Unfortunately, my dreams end there. The biscuits were of the canned variety and burnt. The waffles were frozen and microwaved and the wings were too salty. Also, it took more than half an hour to get my order. My waitress was friendly but not so efficient. Getting my water refilled was an act of congress. For my second order, I simply got biscuits, bacon and fried eggs. It took another 30 minutes. After the time I spent waiting, I was as uninterested in my food as Miley Cyrus is in clothing. To summarize: * The food is on the low side of mediocrity * I can’t even remember the atmosphere because I spent most of my time hangry *My waitress was friendly but unattentive *U simply MUST try the gravy *The value is pretty decent All in all, this a new establishment. It has plenty of room to grow.

Food-3 Service-1 Atmosphere-5(they had a live band that was pretty good) Based on these numbers this is why I gave this restaurant an overall rating of 3. The food was pretty good but the service was horrible. It seemed as though our waitress did not want to be at work today. However, the other servers seemed very nice. We had the fried chicken which was fried very well but a little bland. We also had the catfish which was pretty tasty. For our sides, we had macaroni and cheese, sweet potatoes and french fries which were all were pretty good. There was a live band that was very pleasant and made the dining experience a lot better. The restaurant is very nice and spacious. If they get the service right, this place can do well.

2nd time visiting this restaurant within a week and greatly enjoyed each visit. The service, atmosphere, food and prices are amazing! Highly advise everyone to try this new restaurant. Smothered pork chops, greens, macaroni & cheese and hot water cornbread — Grilled Tilapia, pinto beans, & yams. #Yummy

It seems like Mediterranean food is on the rise in Memphis with places opening up almost on every block, and La Shish is another take on this delicious category. I went in with my wife on a weekday and we ended up being the only people in there, which is somewhat expected from a brand new restaurant. The place itself is really quite nice and clean, the only complaint I have is the random St. Jude koozies sprinkled on each table. I understand that they are supporting the hospital but the tribute is somewhat odd. The menu offer’s a lot of different options to choose from including many vegetarian options. The food itself was alright, my wife’s steak kabob was rather chewy but my beef kafta was really good. The rice was well seasoned although the hummus seemed to lack enough seasoning for my taste. The bread they brought us did not seem fresh and was very thin compared to other Mediterranean places. The prices were comparable to other places and the portions were larger than usual. This restaurant is brand new so it probably has some kinks to work out but it’s definitely work a try if you love this kind of food as much as I do.

This place has been open for only a week now. I was pulling out of the car wash on Hacks Cross and noticed the new sign across the street(an Indian restaurant use to be in this location). So with it being lunch I decided to cross the street and try this new place out. When I walked in I was greeted by several servers you can tell they are ready to get this business going. The girl I spoke with was super nice I told her I just wanted a small hummus falafel plate which was not on the menu that I saw and she said no problem we can take care of it. She said the owners of this place are originally from Detroit and a chef from that area moved down to Memphis to open this restaurant. The have done a nice job of renovating the space they have even installed a brick oven to make their own pita bread in house. Also, in the works is a healthy smoothie bar hopefully that will be up and running in the near future. The food I have to say was really good tasted fresh… falafel was crispy, pita bread was homemade, hummus was not to garlicky and they gave me a ton of food for $ 6.50. I will definitely be going back to try some more things on the menu. I hope this place is able to make it; it seems like they are putting a lot of time and effort in to making a great restaurant!
