Ate here a year ago and food was very good. Good news, food is still awesome! Had the jigae and the roe and octopus were super fresh. Recommend a visit if you have not been here for the food. Staff is friendly but English is not the best, however, that’s not a turn off for me, it only means a mostly Korean clientele which is. a big plus! Décor, well, divey at best… not too bad just don’t expect the Ritz as. they say.

Eh… the meat quality sucks, the bulgogi was overly sweet and everything is just over priced. Don’t go here.

I love to eat at this place. But they need to clean their black pepper shakers. It’s extremely old and dirty.

There are a variety of food, spicy and not spicy, that was very tasty, and I have become a regular myself! Also, Korean food is different from regular Chinese or Japanese food, so if you’re wanting some Chinese or Japanese food, including fried rice, it would be a little different, but I think all of it is very tasty. Service was great, and there’s 2 karaōke rooms, one smaller than the other, and it was so much fun! I went with my cousins, and it was just fantastic! I love this place, and I would strongly recommend going there and trying it out! I don’t know about how it was there some time ago, according to the older reviews, but now there is no problem going there, and is just getting better!

I ate here for lunch about six months ago. I ordered one of the lunch boxes which didn’t break the bank, but it didn’t fill the belly. The food was good. It was served on a divided platter that reminded me of the high school cafeteria. After the last bite was consumed, I was still craving. The worker or waitress couldn’t understand enough English to answer me asking for dessert. She also couldn’t seem to understand I was still hungry and offered no suggestions. I couldn’t find anything on the menu that seemed like it would top me off without ordering another meal, so they missed out on the upsell and I ended up not starving to death. Good for a snack or small meal I suppose. BTW, I love the Kim chi and vegetables!

This is probably the slowest restaurant you will ever visit in your life. Don’t come if you have ANYWHERE else to be. After several visits, I’m convinced they only have one speed: a turtle running in molasses on a cold day. I went in for a simple to go order of fried rice and was told it would be 10 minutes which seemed somewhat fair. Thirty minutes later… I finally had my food. I was told to call ahead next time however another gentleman who did call ahead had to wait even longer than I did. And the staff’s response to our complaints? Blankly staring into space, awkwardly ignoring us. I love Korean food and I really wish there were more options in Memphis. I’ve had several items on the menu and each one has been satisfactory and presentation is acceptable but their lack of efficiency and care for their customers complaints and time have lost me as a customer.

The staff is friendly but this restaurant is not vegetarian friendly at all. I didn’t expect to find many vegetarian options on the menu, but it was even difficult to ask for small modifications to the dishes to make it vegetarian friendly. I’m sure the food is good in general, but this is just a heads up to any vegetarians out there.

I have never been to Korean BBQ before and now I am officially hooked! As we walked in, we asked for a table with a grill and we were promptly seated. My husband, having eaten Korean BBQ knew exactly what to order. He order the bulgogi(marinated beef) and the dark bulgogi(marinated chicken) with all the sides. I ordered the chicken fried rice. When the server bought out the meat, she turned on the stove and put in some pieces in the grill. It was fun to actually sit/watch and cook our meat. I was open to trying all the sides, I don’t know all the names but they complimented the meats very well. Everything tasted great and the chicken fried rice was super delicious. It was a tasty experience and we will definately be back again.

Came here with the hubby to get a nice Korean BBQ dinner. We are in town on vacation and saw this place after we went to the Asian market and thought why not. Many cities are different when it comes to their Korean BBQ and this place was more than satisfying! We got bulgogi and thin sliced beef along with some kimchi fried rice. It was just the two of us so we had plenty of leftovers to bring home. Unfortunately, the beef was served with a lot of fat, but they gave us such large servings for two people that we felt like there really wasn’t much to complain about. The provided us with plenty of banchon which was delicious with our BBQ. The kimchi fried rice also had pork in it and had the right amount of flavors in it. I would definitely suggest this place to anyone looking for some authentic Korean food. This place is amazingly delicious, clean, and full of polite staff members!

I love Korean food but this place does not take pride in their food. I’m from a different area and love the Korean place I go to. The beef bugolgi was horrible, the meat tasted horrible and the sides were horrible. I just would not recommend this place to anyone.

I’ve been craving Korean food for a while now, this place did not meet expectations. Very simple menu with items you’ll be familiar with. My boyfriend got the beef bulgogi, and the portion was pretty small for the price, but he enjoyed it.

This place is another one of my favorite places to eat at in Memphis. There are not too many options for authentic Korean food here in town, but I have enjoyed eating at Asiana Garden so much that it I do not worry about the limited choices. The décor is not one of the strong points for this restaurant and it seems that little has changed in the past 10 years. They do have private karaōke rooms that I would like to try at some point. The employees have always been inviting and friendly whenever I have come in. I really enjoy their Kimchi and Bulgogi. I have tried several of their soups and they all were very tasty. My go to dish that I usually order is the Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap. I cant get enough of the crispy rice that sticks to the bottom of the bowl. Sooooo good! I

Korean food! FINALLY! Though Memphis is extremely limited in Korean food selections, this place is actually not half bad! We were almost hesitant to come here after seeing a picture of someone’s frozen side dish… But our experience was definitely 10x better than that! The service was extremely nice, and definitely reminded me of all the times I would go to my(korean) best friend’s house for dinner and her mother would make sure we were happily eating! Though the prices were a bit pricer than I was used to(compared to korea town in Hawaii or LA), and the quality of the cuts could have been better, my dinner companion and I left full and happy. Dinner on the grill top table for two ended up running us about $ 45 – 50 for two(including tip). One thing that I did not like was that I am used to the server automatically bringing out re-fills of the side dishes. Here, they did not do that. I am not sure if they only do one round of side dishes, or if the server just did not notice that we didn’t have any left… But I would’ve liked more pickled radishes and potatoes! Will be back the next time I am in Memphis!

Service can be atrocious. Atmosphere is ok but nothing special. Food at times can be good and at times can be frozen and gross. The quality of some of the meats/ingredients can be really poor, especially with the fact that at dinner some items are priced like its top notch stuff. I probably won’t be back except maybe for a lunch. The dinners have just been poor lately which does suck because they do have some good marinades for the meats. I really wish there was some better Korean places in Memphis but oh well, leaves something to eat when out of town.

If you are from Memphis, you know that we literally only have 2 Korean restaurants and they are about 10 mins from each other. With that said Asiana Garden is my quick go to korean restaurant in Memphis. Its also closer to work for me. I usually get the lunch specials that range from $ 5-$ 10, it can be a box meal or a bowl meal. I tend to get the box meal since it come with 2 fried dumplings(mandu), salad, white rice, 2 side dishes and a bowl of cabbage soup. They’ve added the kal-bi now to their lunch menu and it goes for 9.99 now. Its pretty good and that is my go to dish at lunch times. For dinner however, i’ve gone on several occasions where it is packed and they would actually refuse service since they do not have the staffing to accommodate i guess. We’ve had several big parties here before using both their party rooms in the back where both have karaōke available or you can actually plug in your phone and play your own music. The service is mediocre, food is ok as i always see 2 ladies running around during the day time. At night time they have an additional 2 workers i beleive. The only weird thing my coworker pointed out was if you paid by cash they would automatically add like 10−15% tip to it but if you paid by credit card they wouldn’t since you had a space to write the tip in. I dunno, go figure. Overall my rating was a 3 for the mediocre food and service to the weird way they would charge you whether you paid by cash or card.

Obviously for Memphis, it is either here or DWJ if you are wanting a proper sit down Korean BBQ experience. If you just want a limited but otherwise solid no frills option for Korean food, I give you Kwik Check — CHEAP or Speedy’s Donut and Deli… also fairly cheap(not as good in the bibimbap but a few more options). Anyway as far as food goes, its okay. Because of low competition, the prices here are of course expensive. There are no refills of banchan which I believe DWJ does do, and service is just dreadful, a bit awkward and kinda snooty. Unless of course on extreme luck you get one of the owners/sisters, they are sweethearts(the granny types). Keep away from the $ 12 fried rice, its only a tiny bit better than the chinese places but as my dumbass dining mate has no palate, that is what he went for and it is a tiny portion for the price. I will give that their soups are GOOOOOOD! I’ve heard people say their side dishes are better than DWJ but DWJ has good sauced up bean sprouts and more often has fish cake which I like. Spice levels could do a bit more work, I did have a nice thing of pickled cabbage and sliced jalopenos but not too much heat. I also don’t know how often this happens but I was given what I believe is rice with a bit of taro in it, delicious and very much how they would do rice in asia(i.e more than just plain white or even brown rice). This place only has convenience of location to me really now, I wish they still had perilla leaves and add sliced garlic to the side dishes — I LOVEKAENIP-SSAM :L Anyway, stick to the soups, bbq is okay, don’t expect too much from service, and do expect to pay an arm and a leg.

I took my kids to Asiana Garden on 04/01/2014, and I DIDNOT enjoy this visit at all. I normally go to DWJ on Hacks Cross when I’m having a Korean food craving and don’t feel like fixing it myself, but I wanted to come because I haven’t been here in a while. I completely understand why. This used to be my favorite Korean(and only) restaurant before DWJ opened up. My, how things have changed. I ordered the Daeji Bulgogi(Spicy pork), Bulgogi(Marinated thinly sliced beef), Dak galbi(Spicy chicken), and Bi Bim Bap(Mixed rice with vegetables). The Daeji bulgogi was decent as well as the Bulgogi. It is definitely not near the best Korean BBQ I’ve ever had. The Dak galbi… I couldn’t believe it. It looked like thinly sliced, non breaded«grilled» looking chicken tenders with spicy sauce. The times that I’ve come here in the past, they served chicken thighs, so this«new» choice of meat was an unpleasant surprise. I told the waitress that I could not eat it as I couldn’t even identify it. She brought out another order of the Daeji Bulgogi. The Bi Bim Bap was ok, as the vegetables were a fewer variety than I normally get at DWJ. I’m half Korean, and grew up eating my grandmother’s cuisine, so I would say that my palette is pretty much on point as far a how good Korean food should taste. Now let me give credit where credit is due… The Ojingo Bokum(Spicy sauteed squid and vegetables) is the BOMB here. It tastes better here than at DWJ. So when I get a taste for this dish, I pass DWJ and come straight here. As for service… It kinda stinks. You have to be around Koreans to understand that they really don’t mean any harm. The waitress was a young girl who didn’t return back to the table after I sent the spicy chicken tenders back… LOL. Don’t expect 5 star service. If you’re one of those peope where service is just as important as the food, you will be highly disappointed. Price… Hmm. I think that it is overpriced for the quality of the food here, but mostly all Korean restaurants are kind of pricey. It’s not like there’s a whole lot of Korean restaurants to chose from in Memphis, but it will satisy the craving unless of course you want to take the time to prepare it yourself. They have online tutorials–( and ). I’ve prepared a lot of meals with the help of Maangchi and Aeri. LOL. Overall, it’s decent Korean BBQ. Kalbi is good, but don’t expect mammoth portions for the $ 20 price. Let me say again… As for the Ojingo Bokum– LOL, the BOMB… If you want to spend $ 14-$ 20 per person just to satisy your Korean craving, than by all means, go ahead… Oh, and they have lunch specials too– $ 7-$ 10. Give DWJ a try, and compare for yourself. I guess it all depends on your preference. Both restaurants’ prices are about the same. I think Asiana Garden is like a dollar higher per dish. In my opinion, Asiana Garden caters to «American» tastebuds while DWJ caters to both«American» and«Korean» tastebuds.

As of January 2013, there are only two and a three-fourth Korean Restaurants in the City of Memphis. There are Asiana Garden and DWJ, the two full Korean restaurants. The ¾th are Kwik Check/Crazy Noodle, which is half a Korean restaurant, and some ghetto market place that serves Bi Bim Bop in Orange Mount with the final quarter(and yes, I’ve been there!) Due to the lack of other Korean restaurants, Asiana Garden automatically gets a three out of five stars. But I will give them 4 stars for this reason: real authentic homestyle Korean food with big spoon of lard in soup! Grease is tasty! I only know this because I once went there and tasted my soup and I was like no favor. I talked to the lady who owned the restaurant and she tasted my soup, and came back with a big spoon of lard. I’ve tried every soup here, and I love them all. But I typically get the fish roe soup or the bone marrow/ox tail soups There are three items I order here but not at DWJ: Jap chae, grilled mackerel, and stir-fried squid. Jap chae is a korean stir-fried sweet potato noodles with sesame oil and soy sauce. Jap chae with kimchi is all I need. DWJ is too oily. The grilled mackerel(s) is good, but if you’re not used to eating fish with bones(aka not Asian enough), don’t order it. As for stir-fried squid, I believe that Asiana Garden grill/bake the squid before she stir-fry it, enhancing the favor. I would actually say DWJ’s squid is terrible. Asiana Garden also prepares better kimchi. As for BBQ, DWJ does it better. But Asiana Garden is not bad, just not as good. For this reason, I have to give DWJ a better score at bi bim bop. DWJ is owned by a group of guys, so I guess these guys prefer meat. For soups, DWJ and Asiana Garden are about equal, although Asiana Garden is more rich, probably due to the lard. You cannot loose with either of these two Korean restaurants in this town.
