The Sun Shoppe Cafe

Nice quaint little coffee shop offering a good variety of breakfast snacks and sandwiches (bagels, muffins, etc.) and not overrun by hipsters.

Pleasant service, good sandwiches, decent smoothies, and a fantastic latte. We go here whenever we’re in town. The prices aren’t bad either.

One of the better independent coffee houses I have visited. This has been a regular stop of mine for many years now and they never disappoint when it comes to quality of the food/​drink or the pleasantness of the staff.
I am always happy to refer friends and colleagues to the Sun Shoppe and will gladly join them for an Iced Heroine or Iced Chai to take the edge off a hot Florida afternoon.

Love coming here, as a local it’s nice to have a place other than chain coffee stores to go to. The atmosphere is cozy and warm. They have a variety of food and salads as well as coffee and smoothies. The also offer dessert options and some pastry items. It is a nice place to bring a book and relax. Everyone who works there is very nice and always has great recommendations if you don’t know what to get. It’s in a great location to grab something and just walk around the downtown Melbourne area.

Lavender chocolate latte was made fabulously. I can’t wait to try the green tea ginger muffin and I’m about to demolish this veggie wrap (no sprouts)!!
Only reason not 5 stars is because the barstool upholstery needs replacing. Sitting on cracked vinyl or whatever it is, isn’t comfy.

Went here on a date, and I suggested this place as it’s a local option, rather than the typical Starbucks or the like. I’m a bit disappointed.
The décor as a whole is relaxed, but yet dated, and the furniture outside is rather flimsy. Inside I noticed some attempted repairs on the wall that weren’t done so well.
The actual service area looked a bit cramped, but not necessarily dirty. I was a bit concerned when I looked up to see Hershey’s syrup bottles on a rack above. More on that later…
My date and I both ordered mochas in different sizes. However, the mugs that were brought out appeared to be the same size, which was a bit surprising considered they’ve taken Starbucks’ size naming convention (tall, grande, etc.). The mugs themselves seemed to have been worn out as the printing on them had been «smeared» off.
The coffee itself was a basic drip brew with, unfortunately, a «burny» taste to it that reminds me of all the cheap Maxwell House that gets brewed in my company’s office. And it was rather clear that the «mocha» really consisted of the Hershey’s syrup. The next morning, I noted that my own coffee and chocolate protein shake had the same taste!
All in all, I’m a bit saddened really, because I like to support local businesses anywhere, but this was just a subpar experience. Oh well, I guess, because it made for a good laugh with my date later!
I’d suggest this place look at expanding the coffee options to include some artisan blends and/​or single-​origin coffees to promote this place as a relaxed, chill environment with great coffee without any flashy décor, maybe even keep the dated furniture to keep that sort of hipster vibe. Could become a cool place for FIT students or young professionals in the area.

Sitting here right now makes me realize why this place is only good for 3 stars. The seating outside are made from cheap plastic that feels as bad as they look. The tables are no better as they are clearly worn and mildew ridden.
On the inside the furniture is also outdated, like remnants from a days inn. Lighting is soft and music is varied and there’s a warm coffee house vibe in the air!
The food while not spectacular is average at best. The serving sizes are also average. You get what you pay for here. This is not one of those places where you can expect more for less.
The coffee selection is wide and varied. They make excellent iced drinks and their deserts are to die for especially the Orange scone. Have one of these toasted with some butter and you’ll be in heaven.
Today I had their egg and cheese croissant. You can’t spoil that one. But it still felt lacking… more eggs, and a better variety of cheese please!
Overall, this place is a cool hangout. Don’t expect fancy, or to be wowed. It’s a great place to meet up with friends due to its location.
They are GLBT friendly and that’s always a good thing.
Visit for your self and be the judge.

Stopped in for a drink after a morning at the beach. While I agree the décor is out dated, the service was great and our drinks (tea and smoothie) hit the spot. We always visit when we are in town!

Cool place. Great atmosphere. Awesome service. Try the Super Lox bagel and the Bread pudin in whiskey sauce. Also try the espresso!

I was very comfortable here. Nice place to go when you don’t want Starbucks.

My visit was during a busy Saturday night so the service was a little slow then I would have liked.
The barist made a great tea recommendation for my girlfriend who said the tea mix was spot on, great job!
The latte was good but my expectation was some type of micro roast or origin coffee. I even hoped for a unique blend specific to this small coffee shop but this was not available.

Had the Kim’s special frappé (pb, coffee & banana) & a California wrap… Very FRESH, tasty & the frappé was delicious as well! Very friendly staff & very cute corner café! The outside makes it look small but it’s actually quite large inside. I think this will be our new go-​to spot when we want to hit up the beach or go to lunch!

Stopped by here the other night for a casual meeting. This place is full of hipster types young and old. They have some food and snack offerings here if you are hungry. Tonight I endulged in their caramel machiatto which was very tasty. This is a good space to meet up with friends, have a casual meeting, or relax with a cup of your favorite coffee or tea.

I absolutely love this place. Everything about it. The owners are amazing. Staff is fantastic. Food and coffee delish. I go several times a week. Keep up the great work Teresa!

Nice selection of salads, sandwiches and drinks (non-​alcoholic variety). They also serve breakfast all day long if that’s your thing.
Great location on the west end of downtown Melbourne.
We went there for lunch and it was packed. But we ordered and sat down & our food was brought out to us within a few minutes.
The prices are reasonable, the staff is very friendly and the dining area is very well taken care of.
Indoor and outdoor seating available as well.

The only place I consistently visit when I’m in town. Breakfast is great — their coffee even better. Ditch the Starbucks for once and visit this non-​chain coffee house. You won’t regret it.

Sun Shoppe is the best!
Excellent drinks and food, friendly staff, great atmosphere and good wifi. This is probably the best coffee shop around for the digital nomad type, or studying student.
My favorite is their Iced Heroin drink, and their portabello sandwich. I can’t even tell you how many of these I’ve consumed, and how many hours I’ve spent here.
Just writing this review makes me want to head over… :)

This has been the local hipster hangout for years! I looooove sun shoppe café because its a place where you WANT to hangout. The atmosphere is chill, the coffee (or in my case the lattes!) Are fresh and I love that they have a musician playing. Its a true coffee house and these days. its hard to find. This is a jewel hidden in the heart of Downtown Melbourne and I highly recommend this place!
