Seriously this is my absolute favorite Thia restaurant in the area. Ive been going here for years and never had a dissappointing experience here! Always top notch food, drink, and service. Their Drunken Noodles here are the bomb. Spicy, tangy, sweet, and a very generous portion. The best drunken noodles in town Id say. The Tom Ka Gai is also delicious. Veggies mixed with chicken in a cocunut lemongrass base. To die for. The sushi too here is great and they have quite a nice selection. Some of these rolls can be monstrous so order what you know you can eat. The staff here is friendly and helpful. Always checking to be sure you are happy, comfortable, and the food and drink are to your liking.

There’s many Thai places in the area that all offer great food. Sabai Thai is my go to spot though because they are consistent, clean, and the atmosphere is really laid back. My favorite dish is the«Drunken Noodle”(Thai hot) w/beef & add tofu. Prices are reasonable. Try the Thai tea!

Good but not great. The sushi is not bad, but nothing special. The prices are on par with other sushi places in the area. The space is dimly lit and the service is efficient, but not overly friendly. A fine place for value, but is a step below Thai Thai and even the sushi at Makotos.

This was a pleasant surprise! From the outside it didn’t look special but as soon as we entered it was a great dinner. The sushi was fantastic, the Thai food was great. The staff was friendly and prompt. I would happily come back here again.

Really a hidden gem as was already noted. Food is excellent. I had the fresh spring rolls which had fresh shrimp(large) and a lot of shredded veges. I also ordered the larb appetizer. Presented on a bed of fresh cabbage and not too spicy as I had requested. Yummy! Finished it off with green tea ice cream. You know it’s got be good when nearly everyone eating here is Asian

Very good food but service is like dealing with Seinfelds soup Nazi. Waitresses work hard but they are short on friendliness and I’m pretty sure my plate was tossed at me on my last visit. Have had sushi and noodle dishes. I’ll return for the food but probably see a therapist before and afterwards to beef up my self esteem :)

I’m adding another star and here’s why: It’s a small little gem tucked into a little plaza and doesn’t have much traffic which I prefer. They have fairly quick service each time I’ve been at night, and it’s a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. I know I don’t have to deal with a huge mass of people whenever I come to Sabai Thai, which allows me to enjoy my company in an cozy, intimate atmosphere, and more importantly enjoy the food/sushi which is always fresh and beautifully presented.

Decent sushi, bad hot tea. You can tell they microwave their water as it loses it’s heat very quickly. I ordered the sunshine roll and the dancing eel. Both came with nice presentation. While I’ve had the sunshine roll before and been blown away, it did t do it for me this time. The dancing eel tasted better but then again eel generally does.

Really good Red Curry. Actually the best Thai food I’ve had in the state of Florida in a very, very long time. Ordered Red Curry but asked for no pineapple. That just doesn’t sound good. As I ordered it though it was excellent. Also had the vegetarian spring roll. Really nice crispy/crunchy stuffed with finely chopped veggies and glass noodles. Staff was really friendly, warm and welcoming. This place is very close to the Hilton(within a few blocks). So if you’re here on business or pleasure I would highly recommend it for a Thai fix.

I’ve eaten lunch at Sabai Thai on 3 occasions. Each time the food is phenomenal, but the service is really rather bad. Each time I’ve had a different server and each time they’ve been short with me, MIA when I needed something, and appeared to be irritated. The most recent visit, however, was one of the most outlandish dining experiences I’ve ever. During my entire meal, my waiter was arguing with the sushi chef. The sushi chef’s station is in the front of the house, so every customer could see and hear their interactions. This not only made it impossible for me to read my book, but it made me very uncomfortable. The only thing that kept me from giving this restaurant one star is that the food really is phenomenal, and the place is incredibly clean. Maybe in the future, though, I’ll stick to takeout orders.

5 of us just ate there. Everyone’s food was very good and the prices are fair for what toy get. Service was very helpful in highlighting the top items on the menu. Décor lacked a bit which lost it a star. Best was the green curry!

A «hidden» gem for great sushi in Melbourne. I’ve been here for lunch twice and my expectations were exceeded both times. The fish is as fresh as I’ve ever had; so tender and smooth it’s like eating butter. The service was like having a private servant; very refreshing. I highly recommend trying this place. Hopefully you’ll be as surprised as I was.

Honestly some of the best, freshest sushi you can get in Melbourne. Love the service and the dining area. Cozy and unobtrusive. Definitely a must-try if you like sushi.

Best little Thai place in Melbourne. As a frequent traveler to Melbourne, it took me 4 tries to find a Thai restaurant I liked. Sabai Thai makes a delicious red curry, and it has a pretty good kick even if you don’t ask them to spice it up. The pad thai is not their strong suit. Enjoyed the sticky rice with mango dessert, too. The staff is always friendly.

I’ve only tried Sabai Thai at lunch time, and I’ve never been disappointed. Small, tucked away in a strip center, but nice atmosphere and friendly service. Sushi is better than average, Pad Thai is delicious, especially if you ask them to spice it up a bit. Good value on combo lunches featuring teriyaki chicken and sushi, or even Pad Thai Chicken and Sushi/Sashimi platter for 12.95. A solid choice when you’re craving thai!
