Marjorie’s Kitchen

I haven’t been here in awhile. The last time I ate here I got a chicken wrap, it came with rice in it. It was really good and the price wasn’t bad. I went in for lunch today to get a chicken wrap. It doesn’t come with rice anymore and I hate to say it, it was smaller and still the same price. I just don’t feel it was worth $ 5.

So I recently went here for lunch and this is some of the BEST Caribbean food I’ve ever had. I had the Oxtail special and it is just like I remember it from being in the islands.
The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is for the décor. There is none. But this is typical of most restaurants in the Caribbean. I’m not talking about the hotel restaurant at the Four Seasons in Barbados but the local roadside places you encounter. Down there it’s all about the food. And the food at Marjorie’s is EXCELLENT.
I’ll definitely be back… like next week :)

Stopped by this recently opened Jamaican restaurant. I love Jamaican food and had high hope. Yeah all hopes shot down. First this place has ZERO atmosphere and unlike many Jamaican restaurants I have been to, the people here are not very friendly or even seem to be happy that I was here at all. So I made my order. Ox tail with rice and beans and the homemade punch to wash it down.
My only question is, where is Marjorie’s kitchen? Well that’s the interesting part. Her kitchen consists of a row of crock pots sitting on a counter behind the register. Oh my, low expectations setting in now. I got my order and sat down at one of the tables.
The ox tail was not very meaty at all, more fatty than I have had before. Not very enjoyable at all. The rice and beans were very good but interesting enough the homemade punch was a homerun. To bad this is not a bar instead of a restaurant. A bit of rum and we got ourselves a winner.
If you like Jamaican food and you know what good Jamaican food is, then, you may want to avoid this place. I just hope Marjorie just doesn’t show up at my home with a machete or tortures me with a voodoo doll. I’ve seen Angel Heart, that stuff is messed up!
