I live in Hawaii and come to the Medford area 2 times a year. I always make sure to visit R&D’s for the best sandwich! I love the Ruben and the French Dip.

Popped in with the hubs and our co pilot en route from PDX to LAX and we were not disappointed! I am a pescatarian so to the boys dismay In ‘N Out was off the table. Thanks yo Unilocal!I found this amazing sandwich shop down the street from the ever popular In ‘N Out and not only were we able to grab some delish sandwiches but a pint of beer and glass of wine! Tuna salad was on point! Super fresh and just the right texture(not to much mayo!) and the avocado I added was the perfect touch, the hubs loved his Classic Italian and then only complaint was from our co pilot who said his pastrami was a little dry(says the guy who grew up in a Jewish deli aka deli snob). 100% recommend and we will most def stop in on our next trip through MFR so long as I don’t get over ruled

Best Sandwich we’ve had! We are not locals just passing through and found this place on Unilocal.Seriously you need to go! My husband had the spicy Rubin and I had the Philly. Both are great!

I’ve done pick up orders and walk ins and they are always fast, fun and friendly. I love getting my 6 inch BLTs and feel full each time. Also, takes care of those with gluten/wheat allergies for my roommate.

This place is the best to get as close to a homemade sandwich… if not better. I love eating here! Tried the Reuben for the first time and was very pleased!

R&D’s Sandwich Factory is an OK sandwich shop — clean, family-friendly, interesting menu, ample parking, generous portions, good value for the dollar, very nice servers, with a muscle car vibe. They even take credit cards. Three Stars. STOPREADING. The following is an amalgam of disappointment, loss, and resignation to the fact that, in life, everything changes. Oh, and my lost youth, that’s gone too. It had been a few years since we came through Medford, and we were giggling with anticipation at the thought of returning to R&D’s for one of their KILLER Hot Pastrami sandwiches. Alas, the moment we turned into the parking lot, it was apparent that something had changed. Where’s the dive-factor? Ron and Doreen’s earthy original has … changed. «OMG,» I told my wife, «the building has been painted. This can’t be good.» Inside, it is the same — all the dive is gone. We ordered an eight–($ 9.95) and six-inch($ 8.05) Hot Pastrami with pickle chips and yellow mustard from a really nice lady, and shared a Parmesan Pesto Potato Salad($ 1.90), which was good. The sandwiches are huge. My problem with them is the pastrami isn’t pastrami — you could have called it a shaved ham sandwich, for all it mattered. The brine served with the sandwich was more of a pink, steaming clear soup. The nice lady at the counter told us the the previous owners, Ron and Doreen, had retired. Lucky bastards, I wish them well, they certainly have earned it! The new owners, April and Brian Kenyon, who by all reports are a very nice couple, stepped in and saved R&D’s. I think, IMH and admittedly selfish and disappointed O, have also elevated R&D’s from a five-star cash-only dive to a two-point-five-star, run-of-the-mill, dime-a-dozen sandwich shop. My wife is right … I shouldn’t have said anything.

Medford gem! We were in town for the ASA Western National Softball tourney at US Cellular Sports Complex and found this place listed in Unilocal. We were pleased with the excellent food and friendly service! The sandwiches are made with great bread and loaded with fine ingredients! Excellent selection of hot and cold sandwiches and many custom combos! Try it out if you are in Medford!

The staff is friendly. The shop itself is cute. The clam chowder and the au jus were amazing. The roast beef on the french dip had a great flavor. The bread on all four of our sandwiches(2 wheat, 2 white) left a lot to be desired. We would go back before we went to subway or another chain but we wouldn’t necessarily search them out.

Every time I eat here, I think about how I can’t wait to write a glowing review, but I have never actually gotten around to it. It is high time. The hubs(a chef) and I are hard to please when it comes to food, but we’re already huge fans and fast becoming regulars at R & D’s. We’ve eaten here several times since moving to Medford four months ago, and it honestly just seems to get better every time. I haven’t had anything that wasn’t outstanding, and they’re always experimenting with new flavors and combinations. Their Cubano is out of this world, and I just tried the Turkey, Jalapeño and Ranch sammy, which was delicious and hit the spot. What we love about the shop: 1. They load each sandwich up with protein. You won’t find these guys skimping on the meat. But it’s not enough to flat-out overwhelm the other components to the sandwich. 2. The flavor profiles are dialed in and memorable. 3. I don’t know what they do to their gluten-free bread option, but it’s perfect. It’s lightly toasted, tastes great and holds together INCREDIBLY well. You forget you’re eating GF. 4. The service is solid. They’re always friendly and work fast to serve you. If you’re craving a good sandwich in Medford, R & D’s is where it’s at.

Medford has just about every chain restaurant that exists in Oregon. This includes Jimmy John’s and Subway. Fortunately, there are several very good sandwich shops also. R & D’s was one of the first places I tried after moving here, based on Unilocal reviews. There is much to like about this place. It looks like a sub shop you’d find in Delaware or Pennsylvania. It’s a building that, inside and outside, looks like it has been around since before WWII. Inside, there are photos of the place in the 1940s when it was called the Coffee Pot. The exterior looks the same minus the coffee pot on the roof. The staff is very friendly. I’ve tried several of their sandwiches. The Hot Pastrami Dip is very good, as is the Reuben. Their Roasted Garlic Cheesesteak is ok. I’m still looking for a good cheesesteak hereabouts. The meatball sandwich is very good. The Cubano is excellent. The last two times I was there, I meant to order something else but couldn’t resist the Cubano. If you’re going to be there any time around noon, phone in your order. They move pretty efficiently but are so busy around lunch time that if you don’t phone it in, you might wait 15 minutes more. Regardless, this place is so good that it’s worth the wait.

Great local sandwich shop! Between our family of six we had: Reuben, French dip, grilled cheese, turkey sandwich, ham and cheese sandwich, and a turkey/ham/bacon sandwich. It was all tasty with fresh bread and lean meats. The customer service was excellent too! I would definitely come here again.

Great food, excellent and friendly owners and employees. The place is always clean and that is very important to me. It gets busy because of the food quality of course but I have never had to wait more than 5 mins before ordering. They typically have many employees working away. I recommend the pastrami dip, BLT, and my new fave is the reuben sandwich, it’s incredible. Everything is great though so just go with what sounds good to you. I typically get a large sandwich and a large iced tea or Coke and my tab is rt around $ 10 on avg.

Always the best sandwiches in town. PLUS new summer hours — open later! New Mac + Jack pulled pork with Siracha coleslaw was outstanding! Perfect mix of hot/cold and sweet/spicy. Always a hefty serving of meat. Service was quick and friendly as usual!

Just a sandwich, right? How complicated can it be to make a good sandwich, right? Most places make sandwiches that you think are good… Until you come across a legit sandwich place that reminds you how good a sandwich SHOULD be! R&D is that reminder… They pile it high and don’t skimp on the best parts… The bread is always key to a really good sandwich and that’s what you get at R&D… The staff is always friendly and the prices are good… ***Eat local***

I mean this with the utmost love and respect for Ron and Doreen, because they are delightful people, but I hope the new owners focus on QUALITY more than quantity. Coming from larger cities, and having visited delis like the Carnegie Deli in New York, I am used to really high quality meats. The fact that the Carnegie piles the meat a mile high is really not what sets them apart… it is the quality of their meats. I just did not find the quality of the meats in the pastrami, for example, to be that great at R&D’s. Don’t get me wrong, there was a LOT of meat, just not very GOOD meat. Here in the Rogue Valley, believe it or not, people WILL pay a bit more for better quality as opposed to more quantity. There is a balance that can be struck, but erring on the side of quality will always serve you well. I am willing to give these guys a try again. I hope they get it right.

Great service, perfect sandwiches. They were helpful in customizing our choices. The turkey was great and blended well with the Swiss. The Ruben was stacked and messy… perfect! 6″ was fulfilling and with different bread selection changes your favorite sandwich each time.

I ADORETHISPLACE! It was one of the first places I ate at when we moved to the area. Very small hole in the wall type place and is always busy and has always been delicious! They are super friendly. The sandwiches speak for themselves! Piled high with meat, and the French dips are a go to every time for me! The price is so perfect and you get so much food!

If you haven’t been here yet, go now. There no wonder they have been here forever and they will continue to be here! The pastrami is huge and is perfect, but I always get the meatball sub. Every time in look at the menu I end up coming bank to the meatball, it’s that good! Well worth the visit!

Just came back from having a sandwich from here and it was pretty awesome! This was both me and my fathers first time in here and we will definitely be coming back. My dad had a hankering for a BLT and was looking up places that didn’t charge an arm and a leg for a simple sandwich. So he decided on R & D’s after seeing the reviews on here. And we both loved it! He ordered a medium BLT and I ordered a medium pastrami on rye w/just mustard. I seriously didn’t think I would get THAT much pastrami! The only thing being is that I wished it was more peppery but either way, it was fantastic. I definitely recommend it, just maybe the smaller size lol
