The service was a very slow, we were there for almost an hour with our 20 month old baby before receiving our entrees. On a positive note, the food was outstanding. The seasoning was spot on and the wait staff were very friendly! The restaurant is entirely family operated which is something you don’t see to often anymore.

Excellent seafood from a great local spot! If you are looking for a fresh meal and some local flavor, this is the place to go.

Maybe it was rainy day but place was empty with only one table occupied. Neighborhood around the restaurant without street lights and the restaurant itself was dark with dimmed light. It was disappointment when lobster roll was nothing special. I do not believe it was worth $ 23.00 for small sandwich and some fries. This was the case of hit or miss and the resturant will not be missed at all.

Neighborhood(?) restaurant with the strangest vibes. There was nobody dining there when we got there ~7PM on a Friday night but it took forever to order. Once we did, it took a good while to get the food and I feel like the prep was timed poorly because some stuff was colder by the time it all came out. We didn’t order anything fried which may have been our mistake. We had broiled salmon with steamed veggies on the side, chicken and broccoli pasta in oil & garlic, and surf and turf w/scallops on rice pilaf. Noooo flavor. Okay, my parents loved it because they hate salt but this was so bland to me. Had to salt and lemon everything to make it more palatable. So sad. Even simple things like the salmon weren’t tasty. Maybe it’s on us for not ordered the fried clams and stuff but c’mon, everything else can’t be bland. It’s easy to make fried foods delicious especially when you can drown them in tartar sauce, which is like the gift of the gods. Overall, not a stellar experience.

Delicious. Fish market by day, seafood restaurant by night. Don’t be afraid of the somewhat nondescript exterior(as I was for years) — inside, there’s a nice bar and a lovely dining room, both of which are relatively modern and minimalist and quiet. Best of all? Fresh fish. Low prices. Parking out back. Family owned and operated. Close to Tufts. Take a date, go alone, bring your family, just… Go!

It is great to know such a down-home place exists in a residential neighborhood. If I lived there I’d hang out at the bar and eat shrimp cocktail! The cocktail sauce was savory and not sweet. Very freshly fried seafood. Friendly family staff. Love it.

Really nice family-run restaurant. Stopped by on a Friday evening to find the place virtually empty. I ordered a lobster roll, to go. The roll came with a side of fries and coleslaw, and the total came to about $ 20. I was amazed at the size of the roll. At that(relatively) inexpensive price, I wasn’t expecting vey much, but the lobster was abundant and the pile of fries was huge! There could have been more coleslaw however. Overall, the meal was amazing. Totally recommend.

If you like good seafood and don’t want to drive out far, this is the place to be. It’s relatively small, family owned restaurant, that was fair quiet for a Friday night. I wouldn’t call the prices a steal, but they’re modest for the quality you get. We ordered the calamari, lobster roll and cajun scallop dinner. My only downgrade on to 4 stars is that I wish they had better sides. However, this is a seafood place, so the focus is doing that well!

Came in on a Saturday afternoon for lunch with my wife. Place was totally empty, they had to turn the dining room lights on for us, but that’s fine with me. We had clam chowder, fried clams, and lobster rolls. Everything was great. Chowder was delicious and thick, not soupy. The fried clams were huuuge, not like some places that essentially give you clam strips. And the lobster rolls were overflowing and awesome. Will definitely come here again.

A little hole in the wall. Family run. The owner get’s fresh seafood daily from the pier. A little pricey but worth it! Has become our Valentine’s Day go-to.

came here on a friday night, but the restaurant wasn’t very full. however, the food was excellent. I started with a cup of new england clam chowder-nice and hearty with chunks of clams. the mussels in garlic wine sauce was yummy and I liked the nice garlic after taste. for the entrée, I had baked deep sea scallops(although I said I wanted broiled scallops). Can’t complain though. My cousin who had the grilled salmon couldn’t stop raving about the wonderful grill marks on the fish. It certainly was grilled to perfection. The portions were generous and the food is reasonably priced. Service was very good as well. Great spot to enjoy all of your favorite seafoods. Would come back again and enthusiastically recommend to all who can make their way here.

Recently had dinner will 8 former work colleagues at Moulton’s Seafood. The food never disappoints. For four of the group it was their first time here. I live in the neighborhood and dine here at least once a month. The service is very friendly. I really, enjoyed the broiled scallops, baked potato and veggies. Others had the fried shrimp, broiled haddock and calamari . I will retune here.

Get the fried fish. Just… get the fried fish. In a basket(haddock), in the Choose Two dinner(pair it with shrimp — why not? — and get a side of coleslaw, fries and rings), on a sandwich, in a shoe… the vehicle matters not. Just get the fish. Dense, firm, tender white cod(perhaps?) in an exquisite fry that holds it all together under the most brutal of tartar dunkings. I also enjoyed the shrimp, although the batter seemed a little more doughy. Fries are fine, the rings are crunchy — although I wouldn’t call it a half and half. Six rings total? I guess all you need is one. To rule them all. #geekout Love the atmosphere, which is a helluva lot nicer than you’d expect rolling up on the only commercial building in a densely residential neighborhood. Family run, everyone’s a total peach. Free refills on the soda pop — beer, wine and cordials(mostly in coffee cocktails) available. Just call first; they randomly close. If they’re open, get the fried fish.

Great clams! Fry batter was falling off here and there so 1 star off and this is a hole in the wall kind of place. I sat at the bar and enjoyed the whole belly little suckers. I plan to come back next time I am in boston

The best seafood restaurant in Boston! All the seafood offering come in fresh daily. Since I am from New Orleans another big seafood town, I can tell the management cares and is serving these fresh and very tasty large portions at extremely reasonable prices. We had scallops, the lobster roll, clam chowder and lobster bisque on our last visit which were all outstanding.

There is no place fresher or better for trad lobster! Lobster pie, lobster roll. Lunch is a good value especially when the old man serves you. Best kept local secret-original hole in the wall!

Disturbed by the less than stellar reviews for this place. «No bread served»? Is that reason for a 3 star review? Not in my book. No, they do not serve bread. Perhaps the humungous portions of what you’ve actually ordered makes up for that? Moulton’s staff gets their seafood fresh every day, and it shows. They also operate a retail fish counter during the week. I have been going to Moulton’s for ten years or so now and I have never — never — had an off meal. Fresher than Legal’s, IMHO, and far cheaper. Tiny dining room, but we’ve never had to wait for a table. I personally am a fan of the silly stenciled«DININGROOM» sign that hangs in the window that gives no trace of the awesome service, seafood and dinner experience.

I am so glad we found this gem while we were in the Boston area AND they actually had parking!!! We went there for lunch and dinner in the same day. The portions were huge, but the prices are small! From the outside it looks like it would be a gloomy bar with old leather booths and bar seats. Quite the contrary!!! It is bright with beautiful décor. I found out it was decorated by the owner’s wife. For lunch I had the fried haddock and clam chowder. Both were very delicious(great batter)! For dinner the Cajun grilled scrod with a side salad(amazing vinaigrette dressing), baked potato, and a side of vegetables(don’t order these they tasted like they were frozen). The service was sort of slow due to only one server. When we went for lunch our server was the owner AND cook! So I understood why it took so long.

I was hoping for a clam shack type place, so my expectations were off when we arrived and it was actually a quaint, date-night type place. There was only one server and although the restaurant was not busy, everything took so long — from ordering our drinks to getting our food. As for the food, the price and portions were decent and prices were very reasonable.
