They have good prices and 15 local beers on tap and they are happy to let you taste! The server may not know every beer when they get new beers constantly, but that’s the fun part! Nice selection of local wine. They make everything in house: soups, dressings and everything. Daily specials and a nice selection on the regular menu. Any restaurant that ACTUALLY makes the food fresh won’t have a HUGE menu, but there is something for everyone. You can’t have fresh food with a thousand items on the menu. A lot of locally sourced ingredients. The staff like where they work and that makes all the difference. Great atmosphere. Good prices. Love this place!

We were seated quickly and served promptly. I ordered the fish and chips, which were better than average. The fries are great. Aside from my first choice beer being all gone, this was a good dining experience and I would go back without hesitation.

Had the wings pizza and wrap so far, all very good and service is excellent. Only 4 out of five because its a little pricey for what you get.

Great atmosphere. A lot of choices on tap. The service was a little slow, but everyone was very friendly. We had the onion rings as an appetizer, the Cuban pork and fish and chips… all of it was great. I look forward to coming back, especially in the summer when the windows are open or to sit on the deck!

Definitely a decent experience and I would try it again. The service here was really good, zero complaints. My husband ordered onion rings because he loves onion rings, I normally do not, but these were pretty bomb! The batter was perfect and the onion inside was crunchy. We both ordered the philly cheese steak, I did provolone on mine and he did the cheez whiz. I highly recommend doing the cheez whiz! His was so delicious. The meat was a little bit cold, no biggie, and a lot of bread as usual anywhere it seems. The important part was our drinks, they did not disappoint at all, we both ordered a Long Island which if you are a fan of the Long Island you know how practically impossible it is to get a good one… ours were pretty much perfect. Give them a try :) And P. S, go ahead and say extra cheez whiz. we could of used more.

either they need a new bartender on Saturdays or they have a serious problem making their signature Margaritas. I had to send my drink back 3 times!!! My husband thought it was because they are more about the beer than the other drinks. If that’s the case they shouldn’t list on the menu. It was missing key ingredients. Anyhow, not trying to be mean but the food was okay as well. Just stick with beer and the burger and you can’t go wrong. Salad was not bad either.

This is a relaxed but attentive dining and social destination. Great atmosphere and scenery out the 3rd floor bar. We haven’t tried down stairs yet, so I will update this hopefully by next week with note from there. As for the bar, the staff is cordial and sincere. Service was prompt and enthusiatic. Honestly this was one of our best experiences having a fun, hearty, and above all else delicious dinners out. If you like fish and chips you simply must try what this place has to offer. We will be back here many times in the future. So pleased this place is near us.

We stumbled upon the great restaurant while enjoying downtown McMinville. It was too early for dinner, so we just had apps and beer/wine. Great restaurant and outdoor bar area, the patio is lovely. Knowledgable, friendly staff and the food is fabulous!

Visited on July 4, 2015 for lunch. The service was not terribly attentive and seemed somewhat annoyed that there were people in the restaurant ordering food. The appetizer(fingerling potatoes with bacon, sour cream, cheese) was delicious, although we asked for no scallions and it was served with scallions. My husband had the margherita pizza, which was undercooked and did not have much flavor(too bad because the presentation on a wooden pizza paddle was a nice touch). I had the Caesar salad with chicken added. Unfortunately, the chicken was overwhelmingly lemony tasting and it completely overshadowed the flavor of the salad. The choices for kids were limited, but my little dude got a platter of apples, carrots, and orange wedges, all of which were tasty. However, they literally had no milk. They have a kids menu, but no milk? The atmosphere is nice in this place, but the food is too expensive for what you get. Maybe it’ll improve in th future. I hope so because I think this place has potential if more care is given.

Wow… Thought it would be great from all the hipe. Pizza under cooked, had to ring grease out of fish & chips. Waitress butchered bottle of wine.(foil shredded, broke cork, then when she finally got it opened, she just put on table and left.

Have eaten here about three times since they opened. The food is great – especially love the Chicken Pot Pie and Cobb Salad. Love their rotating taps and have been impressed with how hands-on the owners are. They seem to really care that you have a good experience and I appreciate that a lot! Ask to sit out on the balcony/deck area if you can because the view is great!

I so wanted to love this place. My husband and I passed by while it was being built and I first would like to say they did a great job with architecture and décor. That being said, I first googled the menu, I was super excited their version of a blooming onion. When we got there my menu had the fried onion flower, my husbands said onion rings. I prayed HIS was the mistyped one. When the waitress came she said the fried onion flower was no longer on the menu. We ordered the rings, the batter was too thick in my opinion, but great sauces and well seasoned. I ordered the asian noodle salad, maybe this is me but it was 95% noodle and 5% vegetables, I would have liked to see lots more veggie. My husband got the special, steak frites, very well seasoned and their french fries, fabulous! The only other 2 things I wished for our experience to be better were… 1. I loved that they used local meat veggie and wine but please ditch the Heinz and get the Portland ketchup! 2. The outdoor patio was closed for a private event but there was plenty of open seating, that was part of our reason for going, to sit outside and enjoy the weather. Other than that service was good, drinks were good, atmosphere was good.

I love 1882. The space is beautiful and the rooftop bar is a great addition the the Mac restaurant scene. The tap list is rotating and fabulous– my favorite beer is 21st Amendment Hell or High Watermelon and they had it on tap. As far as the food goes– the burgers are both great, but I don’t care much for the Mac sauce. The fingerling potato app is really tasty and the wings are solid. All of the staff I have encountered have been helpful and delightful. A few other details: there is a diapering station in the men’s and women’s restrooms– score. They are located on the third floor of the KAOS building accessible by stairs and elevator.

First of all, it is a restaurant on the third floor! Other than that McMenamins place, I think this is the«highest» place downtown. The interior is «industrial» — with exposed beams and heating and cooling pipes. It has«garage» style rollup doors for window and exterior access to the deck. The deck is great! Open and refreshing. A large bar takes up quite a bit of the interior, but it too, is quite attractive. For overall appearance, I would give it 5 stars. Service was great. We were immediately greeted and seated. Waitperson was very friendly and seemed to know what she was doing. Again, five stars. Now, for the real stuff — the food. The menu is quite small, but I guess I was expecting something a little more extensive considering the amount of money they have invested in the place. But, it does advertise itself as a «grille»(although when you add an «e» to grill it seems that you are saying just a bit more). Anyway, they only have one menu for day or night, so what you see is what you get. I was impressed with the selection of «on tap» beers, although I just had water(really wanted a beer, but…) — wine selection seemed okay also — though a little on the spendy side! O, I guess I was going to talk about the food. I chose the ½ lb. Bistro Burger and my wife ordered the Chicken Pot Pie. I was given my choice of fries, kettle chips, soup or small salad as a side(the Chicken Pot Pie came with a salad) — chose the kettle chips assuming they were made in house — instead I think they were just packaged chips(2 stars!). My burger and the chicken pot pie served on a rectangular metal tray(more of the industrial look) covered with parchment paper. My wife’s meal looked quit pleasing served in that manner, but my burger, with the small pile of chips looked rather bleak(2 stars). How were they, you might ask? My wife said the chicken pot pie was far, far better than Marie Callendar’s — so it was superb! My burger was very good, not superb, but very good. Bun was fresh, lettuce was crisp, aioli was tasty, A-okay. So, other than the kettle chips and the eye appeal of the meal, I found it to be a very nice eating experience. Will I go back? Yes, if no other reason than to try that dam(I know it is spelled with an n, but I always hesitate doing it that way) Chicken Pot Pie!

It is a beautiful place with any elevator that takes you up to 1882 right from the sidewalk. The prices comparable to such restaurants in the area but the quality is not up to par. I have been waiting for this new restaurant and to sit outside on the third floor for quite some time. Maybe my anticipation was just to high… no, no it was not. Just honest disappointment. Our server suggested a Basil Strawberry Mojito and it was quite good and refreshing. My husband ended up asking for 4 beer samples because the young lady server could not give much input. My husband was not impressed with any of the samples. He ended up asking another server about beers. He suggested one not ever on the menu. It was a winner! I ordered the fish n chips and my husband ordered the Tavern Burger. They call it a griddle burger and it is so thin that you can’t order it medium or med/rare. It comes the way it comes with only chips… fries are $ 2 extra. My husband said it was good, just good, not worth the menu price. My ‘seasonal’ fish n chip… this comes with fries, obviously, and the fries, we were told are homemade. They were very good, but seemed too perfect for homemade fries compared to other restaurants. The fish was good but I took most of the beer batter off since it was almost dripping of grease. Not exaggerating. In all, 1882 ‘s lunch menu does not stand up to this new establishment’s décor and class. At this time there is nothing that would make it a destination for us in the future.

As other Unilocalers have posted, the building and view from the outside seating area cannot be beat. Unfortunately, the food has a long way to go. Ordered their fried Onion Flower appetizer, Hula pizza, Tavern burger with bacon and Cold Cut Grinder sandwich along with a kid’s cheeseburger. A few thoughts: 1. The Tavern burger can be skipped – pre-made(probably frozen) patty and cooked to order. Very thin, decent toppings. Fries were good, but small portion … BTW, the kid’s cheeseburger is the same patty as the Tavern and my son’s fries portion were larger than mine, go figure? 2. Hula pizza – thin, yeasty crust with little flavor. Toppings were good, but the pizza wasn’t very good due to the crust. 3. Cold Cut Grinder sandwich – was probably the most tasty of the orders, but the sandwich bread was very chewy, almost too hard to bite. Side salad was fresh; skip the ranch dressing, very watered down. 4. Fried Onion Flower appetizer – best part of the meal, fried to perfection. Nice spicy dipping sauce; will order again. Service was good on a busy Saturday afternoon. I really want this place to do well as we are in need of more restaurants in McMinnville. Will try them again, next time will order the chicken wings and Philly sandwich.

This is a great spot! We love the roll-up walls that brings the inside to the outside. We had a great wood fired pizza and they have a big beer list. This is the new go-to in Mac.
