We usually golf together as a family, and our 7 year old son is learning how to play the game. We received a coupon in the mail for a pretty nice discount on the 9 hole course and decided to give it a go. We arrived with time to spare, and went into the«pro» center to check in. They had several items for purchase, and I had forgotten my golf glove so I picked up new one. They had complimentary bowl of candy at the check out and my son grabbed a piece. As we were ready to pay we presented the coupon, which didn’t expire for 2 more weeks, and they would not honor it. They claimed that the coupon was not valid on the weekends, although there was no mention of that on the coupon itself. We decided to go ahead anyway and play the round of golf, rented the golf cart and were on our way. We had a few min to wait before our tee time, and sat in front of the pro center for about 10 mins, in the golf cart, before teeing off. The course itself was relatively nice, and maintained, and we didn’t have many people behind us or in front of us. There was a single man playing behind us and we let him pass us on the 7th hole. The course is not too challenging and most of the holes are set up with a straight on view of the hole, and was perfect for my son to practice his game. As we approached the end of the 9th hole we were approached by one of the managers from the pro center and he was pretty irate that we had included our son on the outing, stating that they do not allow children to play or even be on the course unless they are over 12 year old. He said there was a big sign when we checked in, but we never saw anything like that. They obviously saw us checkin in with our son and then they must have seen us sitting out in front of the pro center, in the golf cart with our son for about 10 min. They could have said something then if it was truly a serious matter. When we were checking out after being yelled at, we were back in the pro center and my son was about to take another piece of the complimentary candy(small hard candy) and the man behind the counter said he couldn’t have any unless he paid $ 1 for each piece. What a total jerk! Needless to say after our experience, we will never be back to this golf course. There are much better and much nicer courses in the area that allow children to learn the game of golf. We have played at so many courses in Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan and Colorado and have never been told that children can’t play with their parents. We would have gladly left if they had mentioned this at check in, and gone to play our round at Boone Creek Golf Course. The rudeness of the managers at this golf course was shocking and they obviously do no honor their coupons. You can definitely find a better place to play golf.

Although it is a nice and inexpensive course, every time I have golfed there, there is a back up of golfers on the course. The manager refuses to get involved with slow golfers, late starts, or managing large groups. For that reason, this place gets a thumbs down.
