Sat for 10 minutes and got no service or recognition at all and the bar wasn’t even busy. Even made eye contact with waitresses and bartender even the manage and still no service.

Took my parents and children there for Mother’s Day. I haven’t been there in a few months and was greatly disappointed. They have 5 TVs now in the small family dinning area. The volume was turned off on the TVs, but they are a huge distraction from having fellowship and a meal with your family. Couldn’t they have turned them off for Mother’s Day to allow families to enjoy being with their family instead having TV’s in everyone’s face? It was also so loud in there, we had to yell to hear each other. My kids wouldn’t eat because there were surrounded by all the TVs and video games that are in the dining area. It’s like their bar area has spilled over into what I had though was a family dining area. This was the first time for my parents to dine here and they said the food was delicious, but have asked not to go back because it was too much like a bar and too much sight and sound commotion. Such a shame. The staff is so nice and the food delicious, but the atmosphere is undesirable.

Went for dinner last week. We ordered their calamari appetizer. They were delicious! I was expecting them to come out chewy and just ok, but they well exceeded my expectations. They were served with fried broccoli that even my son ate. We got the ribs and steak combo. Ribs came out overcooked and hard. The waitress happily took them back and replaced with ribs that were their usual, fall off the bone awesome. Service and food are both always excellent.

We ordered some food to go, and sat in the bar to wait for it. A carry-out bag was placed on the other side of bar, and we assumed it was ours. However, it sat there for 20 minutes, so we thought it must have been for someone else. Finally someone noticed it and brought it over to us. We said that we noticed the food was sitting there for a while, and asked for it to be freshly made. They were accommodating and apologized, then made us a new order. That is why I’m giving 4 stars, even with the mishap. Mistakes happen and can be frustrating, but good customer service goes a long way. I recommend the nachos(especially great for hangovers).

Excellent bar and grill food. Staff are always kind and helpful. It offers both a family dinning room and a bar. The tenderloin sandwich is perfect. My wife loves the pork chops, but we both have enjoyed all the things we have ordered here. Give it a try.

I like this restaurant because it is locally owned. However, the prices are too high for the area. I also did not like them bringing out my Spanish rice in Saran Wrap. Was it premade??? Sometimes the food is good, sometimes it is burnt. Sometimes the staff is attentive and sometimes it takes over an hour to get your food with no explanation from the staff. I used to love family ight but the magician is no longer there, that is the only reason we went to family night.

We’ve been here several times and the quality is declining rapidly. For starters, our appetizer was burnt. We had fajitas. The steak slices were not cut thin enough and we’re tough. The waitstaff seemed nice.

Don’t let the looks of this place scare you away. It’s nothing special but the food is always good. Their ribs are the best I’ve ever had anywhere!!! The portion is huge… always enough to take home for two more meals. You have to try the ribs!!!

I’ve been contemplating a visit to The Grill 2 for quite awhile, but it seems like every time I’m in the area I decided that something else familiar sounds better. I have a friend who runs a trivia night here and I’d committed to myself that I’d finally make it here. Today was the perfect day. It’s a cold and windy Valentine’s Day and I was in the mood for some quiet time, a decent meal, and reading. So, I headed up to The Grill 2, a sister restaurant to «The Grill.» «The Grill 2» is located in a small strip center with more vacancies than businesses. There’s only one curb cut, directly in front of a hilarious spa/pedicure place that has a sign on their door«gift certicats available.» «The Grill 2» advertises itself as family friendly and there’s essentially two sides to the place — one is a bar area where you must be 21 to enter and the other side a family friendly dining area decorated in a red/black color combo with a few televisions on the wall and some bluesy music playing overhead. At the time I arrived, mid-afternoon and definitely off-prime time, I noticed only two other parties in the dining area and staff was clearly getting ready for the planned Valentine’s Day dinner crowd. The Grill 2 has a nicely varied menu including pizza, burgers, chicken, a variety of sandwiches, a bunch of appetizers, beer & other liquors, and even desserts. After leaning toward a burger, I opted to try what they called the«World’s Best Tenderloin» and added fries for $ 1.99(it comes with chips). I also added my usual unsweetened iced tea and the entire meal ran a little over $ 14. While it’s hard for me to imagine The Grill 2 warranting a one-star rating(as has been awarded here on some occasions), I can definitely see where its service could be slow at times. I was there at an off-time and still found service to be friendly, mostly attentive, but not particularly the kind of service that makes you want to start scheduling your next visit. That said, the basics were covered and I was happy throughout my visit. The food? The World’s Best Tenderloin isn’t the world’s best Tenderloin. In fact, it’s not even Indy’s best tenderloin, though it is certainly an impressive tenderloin and I enjoyed it quite a bit. The major issue I had with it was the bun, which seemed like your generic sandwich bun and added a touch of blandness to an otherwise flavorful piece of meat that was enjoyable if not particularly outstanding. The french fries were good, sort of lightly seasoned and nicely flavored. That said, I didn’t think they were worth the $ 1.99 add-on and I’d likely stick with potato chips the next time around. The iced tea was good and I did get one refill. Everything about my experience at The Grill 2 was good, but not great. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, appreciated the service, and enjoyed the meal but didn’t have anything that would truly make me think to myself«I have to go back.» It’s the kind of place I wouldn’t hesitate to visit again, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to do so.

I’ve been to the Grill and the Grill 2 many times and the G2 food quality is just not the same as G1. Went last night and had the Breaded Tenderloin. It was ok but I got the fries at an up charge of 1.99, tiny fries! My wife’s salad was not good. The wait staff is friendly but they cannot make up for mediocre food. Go to the Grill at 79th and Fall Creek.

I got the pulled pork sandwich and it was pretty good. At just over $ 7 I would consider this place a great value. In my opinion it’s one of the best places to eat in the area.

I had the grouper sandwich and I was not impressed. It was very overcooked and ended up being a crispy breading with fish mush inside. The fish was completely ruined. I would guess that the oil was not nearly hot enough during deep frying this fish. Disappointing. This is not the first time I have visited this establishment. On a previous visit I ordered a lobster tail special. It took 45 minutes to recieve my meal and all of my friends had already finished eating their meals. The manager apologized and stated that they had overcooked it repeatedly. The lobster tail I received was ultimately overcooked as well. My meal was refunded. This is a great location to house a good restaraunt. Unfortunately, from my experiences, they do not employ kitchen staff that can execute the quality standard necessary. This establishment was a bar and then transformed into a half bar half family restaraunt. The bar food«chef» still lurks. Get rid of the terrible cooks and start producing something good. Local ingredients and talented individuals could really make this place great. The talent is not there but the bar atmosphere is. Go a block North to Kinsey’s Italian instead.

I really want to like this place. My husband and I live in walking distance and used to go every Friday(esp when I was pregnant!) At some point, maybe late 2012 or mid-2013 the quality of the food changed dramatically. The veggie burger now seems like the frozen ones I keep in my freezer. The fish and chips(last eaten in April 2014) were so greasy I stopped eating it(and didn’t feel well after). The wait staff is always very friendly and they’re great with our son… but I don’t want to reduce my food standards just to go to a place that’s great with kids. We’re going to try The Grill on 79th and really hope that our experience is different.

One word: ribs. They are outstanding, perhaps the best in the city. But while I’m at it, let me brag about their burgers and onion rings. I’ve never had a bad meal or a bad experience at the Grill 2.

Place sucks! 45 minutes later got my steak special that was worse than beef jerkey from gas stations.

My wife and I live within walking distance and we go here about once a month. We both really enjoy their ribs and onion rings. The ribs are smoked perfectly and are very meaty. The Onion rings definitely are breaded fresh and fried just right. The salads are just ok but everything else is great.

I will definitely never be back to this place, ever! Every single time I go in there the service is AWFUL! Not only is it impossible to get drink refills but the food takes 45 minutes or more, absolutely ridiculous. The last time I went in there we has a server who could barely speak English waiting on us so she had no idea what we were saying, nothing against her but it’s a little frustrating trying to give someone who doesn’t understand you a food order.

My parents are HUGE fans of the grill, especially since we live in the neighborhood right behind the bar. The first time I came in I was not impressed with either the food or the drinks, but over the past couple of times of coming here my impression has completely turned around. We always sit on the bar side and service is always prompt. The bartender knows all her regulars and their orders. On my mom’s advice I got a strawberry daiquiri, and it was delicious. The food is also delicious. The portions are pretty big and everything you get is hot and fast. My favorite thing is the Chicken Fajita Salad, which is by far is my favorite salad in the area. The food can get a bit pricey depending on what you get, but for the size and quality of the food I would say that it is reasonable. Well worth checking out if you are looking for somewhere to get good food, drinks, and atmosphere.
