What a great, local bakery! Wonderful bakery sweet treats to choose from, as well as coffee and tea. Also serving a small menu of breakfast sandwiches. Highly recommend to patronize this local, quaint bakery. It is worth the stop. Enjoyed the ricotta cookies, lemon filled cookies, chocolate dipped, and biscotti. Lots of choices. They were also advertising an Easter Brunch on the second floor, and a once a month supper club! Several small tables and chairs — very nice place in downtown Mays Landing to sit a few minutes with coffee and a sweet treat. So nice to see a local bakery doing so well. Kudos!

The soups are amazing! And the warm Brie and apple sandwich is ridiculous and a new favorite! I’ve never tried anything here that wasn’t delicious!

Nice little bakery with a wide selection of goodies. Staff was quick to assist me and was very friendly. The cookies I purchased were tasty, although a bit on the dry/cakey side. I would like to go back and try some of the other items I saw.

Free WiFi! Friendly people! Small-Town vibe! Ok, I’m not sure why I’m so excited. I guess it’s because the world is an ugly place at times, and downtown Mays Landing washes away the ugliness. Case in point: Brownie Squared. What a gem. They have great treats, which are creative without being pretentious. The staff is mellow and friendly. Even the customers are gentle folk who seem to appreciate the opportunity to take a break from the craziness of the everyday world to sit and have a cup of coffee and a danish and a chat with one another. It really is a wonderful place.

Brownies Squared Bakeshop has gotten a lot of attention for their baked goods. Featured in a couple of recent newspaper and magazine articles, it has become a popular detour for some on the way to the shore. It is conveniently located in an old house right on the Main Street of the Atlantic County Seat of Mays Landing. And of course they have coffee and tea and some breakfast/lunch items as well. The most famous item at Brownies Squared Bakeshop are their Fruit Pie Pockets offered at $ 2.50 each … but they are so popular, they often run out of them. Twice I have stopped for them, twice they have been out of them. Oh well — their totally delicious Blueberry Almond Ricotta Cheese concoction helps ease the disappointment!

Ordered huge cake for my 50th birthday party. Next day went for breakfast. In sum, this place is a find. Cake was moist & delicious. Breakfast was great and service exceptional. Outside seating a plus. We will be back!

This place makes me happy. Everything about it. I love how the house is old, probably from the Victorian era, and has a screened storm door so before you even walk in the place you can smell the goodies inside wafting in the air. It’s not fussy inside, and I’m thinking the owners kept the house’s original floors and architecture, lending the house genuine charm. When I walk in, I feel like I’m stepping back in time. No seriously, I do. Except now I’m not 6 years old and I have enough cash to buy one of everything.(I try to use some self-control though.) Let’s start with my favorite, the cupcakes.(Because, after all, I run for them.) I love. Love. LOVE them. They are scrumptious. I’m strictly a vanilla cake, buttercream icing, rainbow sprinkles type of girl. This will always be my go-to, but recently I deviated and got a red velvet cupcake with cream cheese icing. It was DI-VINE. I will most likely add that to my cupcake repertoire. I’ve also had a birthday cake from Brownie’s Squared. My husband had them make me(…drum roll…) a cupcake cake! They made it taste just like their vanilla cupcakes. It was so good, and it froze good too– I had to freeze it because it was obnoxiously huge, à la wedding cake style(it was one of those«mad-hatter» type of cakes, with 3 uneven levels of cake). I’ve also ordered an egg-shaped cake during Easter, it was a vanilla buttercream cake with a chocolate ganache coating on the buttercream. It was very moist and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Cookies are usually second on my list of must-haves at Brownies Squared. My number one seed is the ricotta cookie. These are cookies, but almost cakey with a cinnamon-spiked glaze on top and it’s perfect for someone who doesn’t want something too sweet(my Mommom). My second favorite is a tie between their chocolate chip and sugar cookie. Both are large, probably around 5″ in diameter and I’m not sure how you like your cookies, but I like mine both chewy and crunchy. Yep. I don’t think that’s too much to ask. I hate sugar cookies that are super chewy. It’s like eating undercooked dough(my opinion! You can agree to disagree). Their cookies are super sugary(but not sickening), melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The chocolate chip cookies definitely have the chewy/crunchy combo, but those are a tad more chewy. There’s also a «kitchen sink» cookie, which has a little of everything in it — I think it might have M&Ms, chocolate chips, pretzels, a bunch of stuff. That’s definitely worth trying. The only cookie I tried that I’m not in love with is their butter cookies. It’s sad because I’m drawn to anything with sprinkles on them and they just do nothing for me. As far as price goes, it’s very reasonable — I know the sugar cookie is about 75 cents. On one occasion I sat down with my husband and we split a grilled cheese. It was really good. They make it on their homemade bread. Now for the brownies. I don’t buy brownies here often, but my husband does. They’re pretty large, I’d say about a 5″ square and they come in their own little tray. We like the peanut butter brownie, and they always have this odd one– I think it’s a bacon brownie? It piques my interest, but I’ve never tried it. Brownies are one of the more expensive items, and I hear what the last reviewer is saying about price(and also that the high school girl is a little bit anti-social!), but I think they’re pretty appropriately priced. Compared to other bakeries(like Bake Works), I think they’re much lower in price and higher in quality.

Einstein is credited with defining insanity as «doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.» So, color me crazy, but I keep going back to this place, expecting it to have improved, only to leave disappointed. I’m a local, and the economy being what it is, I try to buy locally from small shops whenever possible. I’ve gone here to buy treats for the kids, for the holidays, and today to pick up an assortment of «goodies»(what a misnomer!) for a small celebration. I guess I keep thinking that I’ve tried the wrong thing– but it seems there’s no right thing to be had here. Even the coffe sucked– and I’m not fussy. The nice teen that has worked here previously has either left or had a day off. Today I was greeted by a surly high schooler who scores a big, fat zero in customer service– and wrapping pastries. Good thing nobody wants to eat them anyway. The cupcakes are disgustingly cloying, the pecan bar is indescribably bad, and their namesake– a huge, $ 5 square brownie– was repulsive. At least we’ll have to rely on the healthier snacks that were brought… But what a waste of money.

Excellent bakery with super breads, cakes, cookies, etc. Nice menu of delicious light lunch meals. Baked goods truly taste better than home made. Nice little shop on a quant small town’s Main Street. Nice to sip coffee, eat a bagel, and catch up using the WIFI.
