My wife and I were staying with some friends at a cabin a few miles north of town. Since her family is from Mauston, we wandered down to try and find food on a Saturday morning. Mauston has a few restaurants, but we decided to just to whatever one was closest to where we got a parking spot. That’s how we found the Dry Gulch. First tip: there’s two entrances: the bar and the restaurant itself(restaurant entrance is the one toward the back of the building). Never made it in the bar but the restaurant looked like a typical midwestern restaurant, yellow rubber upholstery and all. It’s kind of the smaller side, but they comfortably seated us(party of 8) and two other parties of 4. There was a little room after that still. I gotta say for a bar food place, they definitely have a pretty big variety of stuff. I think everyone at the table got something different, and while they weren’t the biggest bar meals I’d ever got, they got the job taken care of. But, it’s not like I’d drive 100 miles out of my way to get there. The place may have generic food, but the service was definitely above average. The waitress was definitely friendly and stopped by enough to refill drinks but not be annoying. Would definitely recommend it for cheap, fast and good enough food.
