After experiencing a severe case of food poisoning at the Hotel Moloka’i Restaurant, I had a check-up at the Moloka’i Community Health Center. The MCHC is a federally funded community health center, offering comprehensive medical, dental, behavioral, and social services to the underserved community on Moloka’i. I found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful, despite the fact that I was already at the tail end of my illness during my visit. I did find that my health insurance was not accepted at MCHC, however I think that may have been my provider’s fault. I paid $ 100 for the visit, of which I was sadly never reimbursed by Kaiser, despite medical necessity.
