Run around and shell games are what this Pep Boys team is good at. Called and spoke to parts manager to request a replacement for defective CV axal and after explaining that the reman part was falty and after he verified they had it in stock refused to warranty the part after explaining that the car was needed and that I had proof of purchase from just a few months ago and he could see clearly that it was failure in manufacturing. He phoned his supervisor and he too refused to warranty the defective axal. Lesson learned disappointed and frustration .Pep Boys slogan is Doing more for less. Less is right

I called about repair and was quoted $ 60 for a 1 hour job. I was told to bring it in immediately for a quick repair. I did so and 2 hours later the service writer takes me to my car to explain that because my car is a Honda the repair is more complicated and will now cost $ 670. Three things are puzzling about my experience and they reflect lack of knowledge and poor management: (1) The service writer spoke of the issue as being common for the model. If this was so, then why didn’t the quote, based upon year, make and model, reflect a price up front for the complicated job? (2) Why did it take 2 hours to make this diagnosis? Aside from removing one tire, no work was done on the car. (3) A shortage of staff was the reason given for the delay. Why, then, would they promise a customer quick service if they know they are understaffed? I took the car to the HONDA dealer and the fix cost $ 200. Do yourself a favor and check with your dealer before engaging in a 3^rd party fix.

I live uptown but drive my vehicles here for all standard service. Always very honest and fair with pricing plus they run great specials on a regular basis!
They’ve helped me with everything from ants in the engine compartment to inspections. These people are the best in Charlotte!
My mom started using them as well and also has had nothing but a great experience.

I don’t think you should expect to go to any autoshop and be in and out for any type of maintenance. What I loved about this location is I scheduled my maintenance online at the time that was convenient for me, dropped off my car for brake and rotor repairs. The general manager serviced us at the register & informed us before we left that there will be a $ 40 mail in rebate we would receive, on top of that there was a printable $ 40 off coupon as well on the direct website. I didn’t keep track of the time it took to complete the repairs but I do remember I thought it was fairly faster than I expected because I wasn’t done with my other errands before they called stating my car was completed .
I gave PEP boys five stars because the service was friendly, fast, and I loved the discounts. My brakes are better than when I first purchased my car.

I can’t say enough good things about Gary and his staff at Pep Boys in Matthews. They absolutely took great care of me on a repair that became a problem and I go there whenever I need a car fixed! I am warmly greeted when I walk in and treated like a person, not a number. If you need car work done. Go to Pep Boys in Matthews!!!

God. If I could write a review without having to give this place any stars, I would. I stopped by a couple of months ago to get a new battery for my car, thinking it would be a pretty simple in and out in a couple minutes type of thing. It was not. Are you surprised? I’m not. Because this place fucking sucks. They constantly try to up sell you. You can never just walk in and get what you need. You leave with like 6 radiators, a steering wheel cover, & some spinners. All I needed was a 200 dollar battery. I didn’t really notice how badly they were trying to scam me till today when I went to have my windshield wipers replaced… I went in there, told them what I needed, they tried to sell me some shit I really didn’t need, then they eventually went to go replace them with the ones I wanted. Of course those didn’t fit right. (I don’t even know if that’s true or not. I wouldn’t put it past them) so then without asking me they put on another wiper that I did not choose, that was totally out of my price range … Once it was on they came to inform me what was up and told me the more expensive one was the only thing that fit and that I need to put two on there or it would «look funny». I politely told them that I was on a budget and that I would have to come back another day … This is when the gentleman gave me an attitude. He asked rudely if I wanted him to take the wipers off, as if I asked to have 40 dollar wipers put on in the first place, and then went outside to the other mechanics who were raising hands and rolling eyes at the situation, which I saw through the window that they could also see me through. How professional. Let me just remind you I didn’t ask for any of this. They removed them eventually and I was just done at that point. I left and will never return again. So tired of these rude people trying to scam me.

The staff at this location are awesome. They helped me out in a pinch tonight right before they were about to close. Outstanding customer service! I have been to this location before and they have been fantastic also. Tonight these guys went above and beyond. Thanks!

Went into the Pepboys location in Matthews NC and the experience was great. I needed an Oil change for my older van and when I was going to the Service desk I met Robert Rhudy and he was a pleasure to meet. While my car was on the lift getting the oil change Robert informed me that there was any issue with in the drivers side wheel that the PROSTEER INNER TIE ROD END needed to be replaced and he and the Service Technician Sam Omary explained the issues if not replaced. I had the part replaced with the oil change (HIGH MILEAGE VAN) after the full quote and fast expedited service the van runs so much better. I just wanted Pepboys to know what great service that I had today with Robert Rhudy he was great to deal with and Sam Omary is a great technician plus I dealt with the customer service manager Cliff Tringali and he was also great to deal with today. I was so humbled with the great service that I purchased Pizza for the whole store. It is great to go and know that you can trust the people that work on you vehicles and today was one of those days.

After I arrived, the two gentlemen promptly pointed me to the service counter. I get to the service counter, the gentleman asked what I needed and I proceeded to tell him that I had an appointment, he looked at his screen and confirmed my name. Then asked for my keys said he needed to get Info from the car. When he came back in said they offer free tire rotation, and asked if that is something I’m interest in. I said yes, since it’s been awhile since I had my tires rotated, (since I hadn’t been by the place I purchased my tires from since they offer life free rotation). The service counter man then proceeded to tell me in a rather smart tone that everyone who sells tires offer the same deal. After going to the waiting room (which had the aroma of coffee and rubber) it was nice I waited over an hour after being told it would take 40 minutes for oil change and tire rotation.
Overall, the first pep boy experience I had was ok. The service counter man could up his game on customer service and be more friendly, smiling never killed anyone.

I build Hotrods so I was thrilled about the remodel here. This store had lacked good service in the past but with the remodel came new help. They even put a guy there for hotrod parts. I spent $ 500.00 in two days in the hotrod department alone but when I brought one of my cars there and the battery died in the parking lot the employee helping me said «sorry maybe you can go next door to Advance Auto and get them to jump you». He turned around and went inside leaving me standing there in the hot summer sun. I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN, PERIOD,

I am extremely pleased with my service at Pep Boys in Matthews, NC. First let me say that everyone there was extremely friendly with me when I came in last night with this loud squeekie noise coming from my front wheels. The sale associate Sea was very patient with me as I was trying to explain what this noise was and how annoying it is and trying to find out what is wrong with my car. She explained that the newer cars have these sensors that let you know when you need brakes. So I was relieved to know that my car was not seriously broke. She had one of the mechanics look at my car for FREE to see exactly if that was the cause of the noise. She gave me a time estimate when the mechanic could fit me in and it was not that long of a wait for someone who did not have an appointment. Next this gentlemen by the name of Robert walked me over to the customer waiting room and he was even very delightful and playful as we walked and talked… I really liked the nickname he gave me «Ms. Adidas» since I had on my Adidas work-​out gear as I rush over to Pep Boy right from the gym. However, I did need new brakes and rotors both Sea and Robert help explain to me the details of why I needed new rotors since my car never had a brake job in three years. They did not do that try to sell me extra stuff or up sales or over sale tactics. Sea and Robert just keep it simple, «here is what the mechanic found, here is what you need, this is what you are getting, and this is how much it will cost.» They even offered me a coupon to use with my purchase that I was not aware of that I qualified for… NOW THAT IS SERVICE. So I am very pleased with job they did my car drives great and I will be back for more work. I will need tires soon and I am coming back to Pep Boys because they did not try to force me into buying anything extra… they just said «you will need tires soon»…

Such as all auto related shops, it is a giant time suck. I went in here for an oil change and a tire alignment. I was there for two hours. But this would have more than likely been the case anywhere.
That being said, this is in a great location and my favorite part they don’t try to sell you on a million different things your car needs in order to get you off the premises. The guy just told me to replace my windshield wipers whenever I had time! Thank you sir! Overall a decent enough auto shop!

Was very happy with my service. Never purchased tires before and they helped guide me through the different tires to choose from. I didn’t feel like they were trying to pull an easy sale out of me at all. (Which I did expect to happen) It was extremely busy and I didn’t mind because I did just walk in on a Saturday afternoon. I really wish I got the name of the mechanic working on my car. He constantly gave me updates as to my time frame even though I wasn’t in a hurry. I appreciated this kind gesture and will be back again in the near future for my car’s state inspection.

I’m not much of car person, but I just went ahead and went there to get some windshield wipers. It was buy one get one free with a mail-​in rebate. I also got a free anti-​freeze liquid thingy. I’m not sure if that’s even the right name.
When walking into the store, it’s a simple auto shop. What more do you expect? I thought it looked nice and well stocked. The prices are clearly labeled for the items, which I’m a huge fan of things being correct.
While checking out, the cashier was nice enough to inform us what we needed to do for our rebate. She even gave us a form that we had to fill out. We wouldn’t have known we needed the form for the rebate if she wasn’t there to help!
All in all, I say it’s a good place to buy some car parts with great service.

Stopped in here this weekend to use their FREE battery tester. Worked well, unfortunately I had to replace the battery due to a bad cell instead of just charging it like I had normally planned (with their free rapid charger station). Looks like the store offers a lot of services, but is pretty competitive with similar competition (prices seemed to be comparable, but I didn’t get a good chance to do a lot of research since the battery needed replacing immediately).

So normally I wouldn’t take time to review places like this. Reason being, is this is not the place you want to spend 5 – 6 hours of your time.
Let me paint the picture with a history lesson first. Regal Nissan in Roswell is going to get a flaming, paper bag full of poop. More on that later.
This weekend, I decided to get my redneck on and leave the comfortable confines of patios, women in sundresses, hummus and other things us city folk enjoy. The reason, Nascar was coming to Charlotte and my friends rent two– 50 passenger buses, buy copious amounts of alcohol, book two bands and generally act like we’re all straight out of the trailer park for 15+ hours. What’s not to like about that? Absofuckinglutely NOTHING!
So after a day of wearing Mark Martin t-​shirts, owning everyone from Charlotte in beer pong, and eating pork that had been cooked for roughly 12 hours… Well, we had to leave at some point and get back to the hotel. Oh yeah, I forgot, I took a pic with Jeff Gordon lady. You know, the lady that is probably 60, but still wears a bikini to every race and has a Jeff Gordon mural on her back that is actual tattoos… GROSS.
So, we get back around 11:30 to Matthews, where everyone had hotels and or air mattresses at my buddy Smoak’s house. It’s at this point that I figure out that my lovely Nissan Maxima is trying to croak. Tried to jump it… Didn’t work. I’m too drunk to care. «I’ll take care of it tomorrow»… Oh, maybe you won’t.
So I go back around Noon thinking, «Hey, I’ll just replace the starter and/​or battery and be on my way.» Billy Bob from retro-​tow truck towing comes and figures out in his best Boomhower impersonation from King of Hill… «Hey man, this thingamajig right hunnnh… well, it’s cunnexted to this thingamajigger right there… Lut me reconnect it and Waaaala… It be crankin up man…»
So car cranked, but I still needed a new battery…
Get to Pep Boys and this is where the shennanigans started. They replace my battery but the boys in the white shirts realized my left, rear brake was about to cause some serious damage. Basically, those ASE Certified assholes at Nissan when they fixed my breaks forgot to tighten a very important piece on my brake. Actually, it was the two bolts that keep the caliper in place. One had already broken off and the other was about to go.
Guess what happens if they are both gone. Caliper becomes a 10 pound projectile that does damage to your car then flies out from underneath killing Suzy Superstar following behind in her Volkswagen Bug. Yep, I’m not a fan of liability so it had to get fixed.
Then the shennanigans get even better. Not a single Nissan dealership within an hour is open to sell parts. The only Pep Boys with the part is in Gastonia… Gasfookingstonia… Gastonia sounds like a place where bad gas and retirees go to eat Picadilly.
So I have to thank Chad. Guy was awesome and was the person that basically figured out my left, rear brake was about to shatter someone’s windshield and my bank account. Guy got in a truck… You know the one where the seat won’t go back because there is no backseat, so you have to basically sit upright with no comfort!!! Yep, that one. Drove the hour to Gas-​tonia. Got the bolts and came back.
Those people don’t have to do that shite you know. Guy simply did it because he knew I didn’t want to be in Charlotte past sundown. In Atlanta, nothing good happens after midnight (I love bad though). In Charlotte, nothing bad happens after sundown. I would’ve jumped off the nearest 2 story building and broken an ankle over boredom lastnight.
Chad went and got the part and I was on my merry way. Now that’s service. So whilst Nissan needs a few swift kicks in the ‘Nads… Pep Boys need a good old fashioned cheer and Jäger shot or three.
Therefore, I felt a shout out was needed for Chad and the peeps there. Plus, I got to witness an minor employee altercation over some service issue. Twas awesome.
