Honest service station. The mechanics are great. When they found a problem on my old Jeep that they didn’t feel confident diagnosing and repairing, they told me so. They even referred me to another mechanic. They could have just as easily made repairs that I didn’t need and I would have never known. I appreciate their honesty and will continue to take my cars there for the basics.

I thought this place was a good repair shop, but all it took was a few more visits to see how poor they are at fixing problems. I drive a toyota which is an extremely dependable automobile. Ever since I got my brake pads replaced here the brakes have had nothing but problems. The brakes continuously vibrate and seem to «skip» when I step on them. I told the mechanic about the issue so he shaved the rotors, same issue a month later. Then I got new rotors, same issue a month later. Poor automobile service and care. Never again.

I remember growing up and it was the service station where my parents would take to get their cars repaired. The smell of the oil, sound of the air wrenches — it’s a piece of Americana that we are sadly losing.
The Exxon in Downtown Matthews is not just a gas station but a true service station. The still have full-​service pumps! Where else outside of New Jersey can you find a gas station with full-​service? Also, they have air at every pump for free! That’s insane to pay for air at a typical gas station. I limped my car in on 3 tires and a spare, dropped off my tire and headed to work. On my way back through, I picked up my repaired tire and it’s held up well. The repair: $ 15!!! That’s a steal.
They do more than fix flats. The garage has 3 bays for all kinds of service (oil change, tire replacement, battery service, NC inspections) and even a wooden bench outside under their awning to enjoy the day while your car is getting worked on.
While I love working on my car myself, I think I’ve found my new place for when time or talent is in short supply… especially the next time I have a flat.
