I’ve eaten here a few times but it got rather hectic when the hood and church folks came in to eat. Tried to go there a few days ago and was told they were closed. Learned from a friend the location was closed down allegedly due to low patronage which is becoming noticeable giving the demise of Lincoln Mall and other shops around the area.

I’m at Cracker Barrell currently and this server is absolutely horrible! She has braids that are like sandy brown and may be a nice person but has no waitressing skills whatsoever! Her name is Lynette. Omg she is horrible. I’m not sure why she has three stars. Food is okay but her as a server– horrible.

I have had good experiences at the location in Tinley Park. The food was great and so was the service. Tonight I came to this location in Matteson because my friend used to work here. I thought the atmosphere was nice some of the staff were helpful but the server we had was not the best. I ordered the old timers breakfast(two eggs sunny side up, thick cut maple smoked bacon, hash browns, biscuits with gravy, and grits.) and when we got our foood I asked for a bottle of Tabasco sauce. The waitress forgot the tabasco sauce and I had to ask her again when I stopped her for a refill on my drink(which I originally ordered with out ice and still got ice). While waiting for the tabasco sauce for my eggs I tried the biscuits and the gravy. The biscuits were delicious but the gravy tasted like wet flour. I also tried the grits which were so bland it was like wet mush. The bacon was cooked exactly how I like it, the eggs were perfect, and the hash browns were crispy and delicious. I found the store part to have some nice items but there were a little high priced for me.

If I could rate this place lower I would. It has really gotten worse if that’s possible! The manager, Derrick Jarret, is ignorant and useless. He could care less about customer service or the quality of food. Several ppl around us also had issues with their food and felt talking to the manager was a waste of time since they’ve complained before and gotten no results. It’s sad that we can’t get good service here. Derrick was rude, inpatient, and ignorant! He basically told us to call, write or email anyone we felt the need to over our bad service, horrible food and his attitude.

I was disappointed with the service atmosphere today. I requested bacon medium and it came out quite crispy. When I asked for a change, they said I would need to return the previous order first otherwise I’d be charged for extra bacon. Furthermore, the manager said my request for soft bacon was«subjective» in the interpretation. Really? We must think different about customer service. Bad service is a tragedy in the community.

Service has gone down hill for the past six months at least. I waited to be served awhile ago for fifteen minutes. I just walked out. We are close but usually drive to Tinley Park location, fewer problems.

I have to say that I am a huge fan of the Cracker Barrel. My first experience was in Alabama many years ago. The Matteson location has progressively deteriorated. The quality of the food and service is poor. The environment is not kept. During my last visit, the restaurant was half full and every table was dirty. The waiter moved with the urgency of molasses. I watched him take order after order but deliver food about every 45 minutes. The quality of service is apparently a crap shoot. I watched guests complain to an uninterested manager. Most of the menu was unavailable or would be ready in «20 minutes» which was code for they don’t want to serve the customers. I will take my business to the Indiana — Kennedy location where at least they cook the food on the menu, clean the tables, and actually work in the restaurant. The management and staff at this location is in need of re-training.

My husband and I could not remember why after the first vist we have not been back at this Matteson Cracker Barrel, now we remember. As we walk up to the host to be seated it was not a warm greeting with a smile at all. After being seated in the LOUD cafeteria, 20 min waiting on the waitress(not ask do we want coffee or something to drink during the wait), very very dirty floor and tables wondering when the bus boy was gonna clean the tables and food under and around the floors, realizing that there is no bus boy but to see that the waitress Take order and clean the table and No one clean the floors which had all kind of mess ALLOVER the place. After another 20 wait for our breakfast the food was COLD… Told the waitress she put in another order came back 7 min later to take my COLD food plate away. She also said she told the manger also. While waiting another 15 – 20 for my food the waitress said it should ask my husband if he is ok… I told her I wait to talk with the manager. Bout 15 min wait the manager came to the table with I DON’T GIVE A FUCKLOOK, I remember why we never been back to this place. Never Again so I give it no stars

Hate hate hate this location. I love Cracker Barrel but the service at this location is horrible. We live nearby so it is disappointing to have to go to other locations further away. We have gone back many times and the wait staff just doesn’t seem to care. I don’t get it. At what point do the managers get tired of complaints from inept wait staff? Keep going and visit Tinley or maybe the Kankakee area, just don’t waste your time or money here.

Not that great. Ordered over medium eggs, they came over easy. Ham was super salty and inedible! The service from Monique was great and prompt tho and biscuits and gravy is very good.

average old fashioned home cooked styled restaurant. The portions are extremely generous so if you’re looking for a filler, this place surely gets the job done! The design is very quaint and homey. They also have a general store attached to the restaurant with cool little knick knacks. Amazing prices and amazing service. Two hearty breakfast meals for under $ 20, the meal was a notch above denny’s IMO. The cool thing is they make and bottle their own syrup, and it came out hot and fresh. I felt like I was in an old western film eating here, they sell wooden rockers and had seats out front where you can sit and play checkers and at any moment a cowboy can roll by and shoot me in the face and steal my chewing tabacco and/or horse. The restaurant is huge and I really appreciate the olden décor, I would say definitely give this place a try.

Good for a filling meal at reasonable prices with a feeling of home-cooked food.

Food is decent. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t see omelets on the menu. They do sell them. ;)

Ground coffee for my humble abode in Paxton, Illinois. My brother forgot to get it for me the other day at the neighborhood CB. Cracker Barrel has great lunch and dinner specials. I wish they had omelets for breakfast, but I usually stick with the eggs, meat, and fruit platter. If I am feeling crazy… I go with the whole wheat french toast(because I think it’s more nutritious due to the complex carbohydrate as opposed to the refined carbohydrates that have led to the obesity epidemic). If you want a tacky gift, tractor, t shirt, or rock candy… or a quality meal while on the road with your travel baseball team, church group, or extended family… CBISTHEWAYTOGO!

I recently went here with some friends of mine to celebrate my 33rd birthday after church. I hadn’t been here for ages and I had a real hankering for their cheesy potato casserole. Mmmmmmmmmmm… When I arrived, I instantly wished I had about $ 500 dollars in my pocket. Old country knick knacks, candies, remedies and such always bring me back to the times in the early 1900s when life was simpler Again…I’m 33 When my party arrived, we were able to sit down, and order. I got the country fried steak, with cheesy potato casserole, okra, and baby carrots. We all got a mix of the corn bread and buttermilk biscuits. Our waitress, Paula, was a pretty great gal. And her name is AWESOME! With the order and water refills, she was on top of her game… and also friendly to boot The issue we had service wise wasn’t with her… but with the rest of the wait staff. When we got our order, a lot of the gravy(which was an important part of our«healthy» breakfast) was missing, as well as part of a few orders. The food was also lukewarm. This wasn’t Paula’s fault, as no one told her that the order was already out. In a lot of restaurants, the waitress isn’t always the one who brings out the food, so when we let her know, I understood when she let us know. Anyway, the food was fair tasting. I’ve had a lot better at other breakfast restaurants, and it wasn’t anything super memorable beyond a review… but it was OK. I did receive a hot fudge sundae for my birthday and the staff did sing a little song, which was great! All-in-all, it was a good time. I’ll visit a Cracker Barrel again. Is it be my go-to breakfast restaurant? No. Probably JN Michaels or Peachtree Café in that area would be, but if it was for nothing but to eat up the atmosphere for a hour or so, I think it’s worth it Also, it’s 1000 times better than The Purple Onion… which I plan on lambasting on each an every one of my breakfast /lunch restaurant reviews :-)

I eat here every now and again. It’s okay, it’s Cracker Barrel. The only really bad thing here, is the coffee, honestly.

There’s just something about cracker barrel that makes you feel right at homey homes in the country… the always burning fireplace, that kitschy general store w all manner of treats and random odds and ends, the Amish motif’d dining area, the wooden rocking chairs, etc … yea, it’s completely contrived and strictly by design but it works on a simple level. I was in a ravenous state, so set my sites on one of their dinner platters which is an entrée that comes w. 3 sides. Chicken Fried Chicken. Very good, and topped w. a white pepper gravy that was seasoned perfectly. Green Beans, Mashed Potatoes and Baby Carrots, plus a biscuit and corn bread, rounded out this comfort food foodies delightful spread.

Earlier this week, I ventured out in the middle of a snowstorm to come here. We were going about 25 – 35 mph the whole way. Service was ok, probably because everyone was worried about having to dig their cars out of a snowbank. But, confirmed… food is still good! And the general store was giving out free samples of chocolate covered raisins and maltballs, and they carry silly bands now! Gotta love that general store :)

On my way back from Kankakee, made a quick stop for dinner. Let me just put out there why I love CB… not only the food is delicious but the gift shop gives me a vacation like feeling. Now down to the nitty gritty. I ordered the«Lemon Pepper Grilled Rainbow Trout» very tender and seasoned to perfection. I was blown away by the taste and quality of this entrée that I complimented with coleslaw, apple sauce, steak fries and corned bread. Can you believe you get(4) sides with such a low price of $ 9…OMG is right! Next they brought out the current in-store special the«Campfire Chicken» for my buddy. Once again this half chicken was so tender and flavorful because it is slow roasted in foil with veggies and its own natural juices. Another winner! Before I forget their coleslaw, corned bread and biscuits all homemade.
