It says clearly on the door open until 4. I came here on a mission before leaving to visit my family to bring them bagels. It is 329 and they are closed. Im pissed I drove here for no reason. Thanks a lot.

This place needs to either hire more help or a cook. You shouldn’t have to wait 15 min at 6 am on Sunday, just to buy bagels because the 2 customers in front of you ordered egg sandwiches and each counter person cooks their own order!

The worst! I’d give negative stars if I could –they charged 1.50 more than posted price and then when I inquired about the difference I was told they didn’t change the price(since when??? they increased that much???) this isn’t the first time I had a negative experience here and I thought I’d give it another try –they continually mess up orders have horrible service, average bagels and terribly long waits –never coming back here and I’d advice others not to bother

Food was OKAY. Service was fine and the place is clean. Good size breakfast wrap. My issue is the price… even for Long Island it is too high. I took my daughter for a quick breakfast, I got a breakfast wrap special with coffee($ 5.99). This was find. However, my daughter ordered tuna on a bagel and a snapple and that cost $ 11. That’s insane.

umm, what happened with the prices here? Went in for an egg sandwich and bagel cream cheese — almost $ 9. Yikes!

The bagels are ok. Nothing special. The service is also not the greatest. Ordered a bagel with lox and cream cheese. Had to throw it in the garbage because the lox tasted off. Very disappointing to pay $ 10 for a sandwich and not be able to enjoy it.

Okay, where to begin. I think I’ll start with service. When you go in you always feel rushed, you are greeted with a generic«Hello, what can I get for you» maybe they should try«Hey, how are you doing today? How can I help you?» But that’s just me. So for that is ½ star. Next price, I can’t comment on this being good or being bad because it seems to always be different depending on the server you get. I have paid three different prices for the same thing! For a cinnamon raisin bagel buttered and a large coffee I have paid; $ 4.11, $ 4.23 and $ 5.00! That’s is another ½ star. Now on to the food. It is like any other typical shop. Large selection of bagels(i.e; salt, everything, egg, cinnamon raisin, French toast, etc) they have salads(i.e; chicken, egg and tuna) breakfast sandwiches, lunch specials and so on. The food is above par so that’s 2 stars. So my suggestion is, if you need a fast bite or don’t feel like walking across the street to the shop go on in. Just don’t expect to pay the same amount it you go back.

Basically there are better bagles avaliable. Don’t waste the carbs here. Pumpernickle was fermented tasting. Love bagles and there are much better places like across the street. I am only rating the bagles I didn’t try anything else.

Solid bagel place. Been going here for years, and the bagels are on point. But I’ve recently noticed that their prices are getting steeper and steeper with each visit! This weekend we decided to get some bagels since we had a full house. A bakers dozen bagels, 2 types of cream cheese, and 4 pieces of lox came to $ 35. Are you kidding me? $ 5 for a small container of plain cream cheese? Insane. Next time I’ll just stick to the bagels, and get my fixings elsewhere.

I’ll confess it here on Unilocal, have never had a true NY bagel before. Went in as novices. Every kind of bagel imaginable; Poppy, sesame, garlic, everthing bagels. Got egg and cheese on a bagel with a drink was $ 2.99 Where can you get a breakfast for $ 2.99? Have to admit the service was rather slow I can certainly see on a busy morning it could become an issue but it’s real eggs cooked to your order. I can finally say I have had an authentic New York Bagel and I liked it!

The Buttered Bagel does indeed offer great bagels, but after becoming a semi-regular here, I’ve found myself disappointed with the service. I’m used to bagel places that have fast turnover, can handle multiple complex egg sandwich orders, all while dealing with a line that is just barely stopped at the door. But here, whenever I’ve gone in, I’ve waited a semi-ridiculous* amount of time to get two bagels, one with butter, one with cream cheese. And with almost no other customers in front of me. On top of that, the butter and cream cheese bagels were mixed up last time. It’s only two types of bagels, each one with a simple standard topping. Not much to screw up, but there it was. I do like this place, I will most likely keep going here, but I am never fully satisfied with it. *Possibly only 5 minutes, but in morning bagel and coffee time? That’s hours. Like being trapped in a pocket universe while the world moves on around you.

Bagles are great. Service is friendly. And the Tue.&Wed. special(12 for $ 4.99) can only be recommended.

Yummy rings of dough… I love bagels — I don’t love bagels made elsewhere and shipped for resale. These guys are the real deal and have been here for many years. The place is big and as big as it is the line for bagels on Sunday is almost out the door — don’t let that scare you off as it is worth the wait. Excellent bagels and on Sundays, excellent people watching opportunities.
