I am a local and I don’t think there is a better restaurant on the cape! I have been dining here since the it was Contrast on the Common, some 15 plus years. I am not what you call a foodie, and have simple tastes, so a French restaurant would be intimidating to me. Then there is Bleu. Chef bring the warmth and simple pressure of French food to the cape and we are wholeheartedly lucky to have him. My husband(who is also a chef) and I go fairly often. Most of the time to sit at the bar, chat with the pleasant bar tenders and 9 months out of the year, with other locals. We love to order our favorites, for me the Rilettes and my husband the Foie Gras and the pomfrittes and of course a glass of fine French wine. I have never had any as good as the Rilettes. My first order of this was by mistake, but the most forteidus mistake of my life thus far. It is the BEST Thing I have ever tasted! Let me repeat that since I can’t stress this enough, THEBESTTHING I HAVEEVERTASTED. I crave it! My husband says it us the best foie gras too. The menu is varied to indulge all tastes with seafood(my friend raves over the scallops) the beet salad is wonderful, the filet mignon is fanominal. Everything here is made with fresh ingredients and prepared masterfully with thoughtfulness. The wine list is great and extensive and don’t forget the decadent desserts Reservation in season and holidays are a must but most of the year we walk in to the bar. We live the design of the place and highly recommend Bleu!

I had high hopes. Had company from LA. I made a resv. They told me 7pm. When we arrived we waited & waited. There was an empty table in the bar which was never offered to us. Both the manager(owner?) & later waitress said they Never take 7 pm resv. But They offered it to me! Then maybe because the waitress knew we waited 25 minutes she over rushed the dinner. Entries came out before we were completely done with appetizers. And later they kept trying to clear the table while 2 of 4 were still eating. I asked him to stop taking stuff(2 main plates then little plates then return for bread& butter) & someone else stared the same. Most of the food was very good but 1 party received a very fatty & gristly steak. The waitress failed to return for a long time to check if everything was ok. She then argued that it was supposed to be fatty.(no comment on gristle throughout). Eventually a different cut of steak was offered. With all of these mishaps I would have expected the manager to come over & apologize. Never happened. I would consider returning on a quiet nite for the food which has always been good. But my LA friends would question why.

My family and friends have gone a few times. Upon reading other reviews. I’ve noticed that yes, I’ve had great service there and not so great. I do believe the food is tasty and wonderful. My favorite being the escargot. We’ve even taken advantage of a Sunday Brunch which had an alternate menu but it was outstanding. This was where I had the not so great service and it did seem a bit overcrowded, maybe to make room for the musicians they had. But the food still came out hot and timely. And the mimosas… yum. The atmosphere is cozy and feels busy. You should make a reservation if you are eating at peak times or have a large party. But I feel it’s worth every penny.

Very good dinner on a Monday night in early spring. My husband and I ordered and shared the escargot, torchon, and seafood tower. He then had the duck, and I had the filet mignon.(We were starving! And with a little one, we don’t get out much these days!) Everything was done well. In particular, the escargot and torchon really hit the spot. Both the duck and filet were cooked a perfect medium rare. Wished they had served bread with the escargot to sop up the goodness — I’m sure they would have if I asked, but it doesn’t come with any. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. I was skeptical of the ambiance going in since it’s in a mall(well, sort of), but it was very nice and comfortable. The couple eating next to us seemed to speak only French, and the chef came out to chat with them in French at then end of the night. That’s always a good sign for a French restaurant! We will definitely trek out to Mashpee from Brewster in the future to try the onion soup and other traditional French dishes.

Made reservations for Valentines Day dinner. Our waiter was highly attentive, had a great attitude, and was very informative about the menu. I ordered the Mallard Breast dinner. The dish was excellent to say the least. Wonderful atmosphere and we ended up staying for over two hours having a most enjoyable time. This is now one of my favorite restaurants in Mashpee! Would recommend to all.

We went here on a whim and the food was amazing. The prix fixe at $ 25 was a great deal(3 courses) and the cassoulet was great. We will definitely be back!

This is a regular stop for me when I’m out on the Cape. Bleu is a food destination for all lovers of French cuisine here on the Cape, and beyond; worth a 2 hour drive just for lunch or dinner. Today I had escargots, which were plump and juicy and perfectly prepared in traditional garlic butter. The dug leg confit was outstanding(they make it in house); the mini baguette with warm goat cheese was also delicious. With 2 glasses of Beaujolais Nouveau, I was replete. The service is excellent, and the ambiance very pleasant. Prices are very reasonable for the 1st class food and service.

I would rate the food as 4 ½ stars, but the place is a bit crowded. We went at 6:30 on a Sunday evening and the place was pretty full. Negotiating through the slalom was my only issue. Perhaps the fall and winter will allow them to remove 2 or 3 tables to make things easier on both wait staff and the customer. On to the food. Great mussels and a nice quantity. Seafood gumbo/cioppini/I don’t remember what it was called, but it was great! Tasty, crunchy French bread and we had several different white wines by the glass and a shared dessert. Price was fair and we will be back this week, so thought I would rate his today and update if things have changed. Go… enjoy!

I had the prix fix dinner at Bleu on a Wednesday night with a companion. For a Wednesday in the Cape Cod off-season, the restaurant was l busier than I thought it would be. I passed on the drinks because I had a long drive after dinner but the wine list was long and extensive, as you would expect from a French restaurant. Service was polite and quick… almost too quick. Our appetizers came out at the same time as the bread(served warm with an amazing olive tapenade and butter) and I felt like I had to eat quickly before the bread and my fish chowder cooled down. For my entrée, I had the coq au vin with root vegetables and a strawberry almond short bread for dessert. All the food was perfectly prepared and delicious. The serving size was also huge! For $ 25, the prix fix dinner cannot be beat. I’m looking forward to coming back again soon. I agree with other reviewers that the location(inside Mashpee Commons) doesn’t reflect the quality of the restaurant but, hey, at least there’s ample parking!

I love Bleu, or should I say, «loved» Bleu. When the head chef is making the plates they tend to be consistent and excellent, whereas during the lunch service it is hit and miss. I ordered confit de canard which was overcooked, complimentary bread was burnt, but the service was as always excellent and very attentive. 2 items that are never bad: french onion soup, beet and goat-cheese salad. I still come here to eat, hoping upon hope that it will be excellent but at the moment it is just so so.

Great service at lunch. We had the special(mussels in fennel & onion broth), Fig and Brie baguette, Mac and cheese five cheeses and ham crêpe. The mussels were very well executed as well as the Mac and cheese. The portions are also pretty big. We were on the way back to Boston so will return next time we are at the cape. Hopefully for dinner.

French food and champagne always get me high! We came for lunch and had escargot, the beat salad and the duck confit — it was Perfection — makes me want to knock a star off my other reviews

I went here this afternoon for my birthday, which also happens to be on the date of the French holiday, «Bastille Day.» The entire place was embellished with flags, balloons, and flowers. The staff were even dressed in red and blue to celebrate. There was a menu for the occasion that replaced the regular menu, but there wasn’t much variety. As for the food(which came out very fast), the complimentary bread was burnt. I tried their stake, which was great! I also tried Mac n Cheese, which was sort of flavorless to my disappointment, but the cheese made it taste better. The potatoes were good, nothing special. Overall; lovely atmosphere and OK food. Will try again.

Excellent dinner all around! For a ‘mall location’ you don’t often expect much but this was definitely more of a fine dining experience. The round up: — scallops perfectly cooked and served with a very cool ‘fried rice’ –salmon –melon honey sweetness balanced with greens and taro chips — chicken cooked perfectly accompanied by a more than generous portion of ratatouille –finally a apricot dessert that was so amazing we were glad we saved room to split it between four people. Don’t miss this spot! Wish I had the recipe for the salmon!

We were searching for something other than a soup and salad place and then we discovered Bleu. Mashpee Commons is a west coast-like open air shopping mall. All of the stores are built out separately, to feel like a little village. Very New England. Very quaint. We stopped in for lunch and was immediately impressed. The interior has a lot of dark wood, brass and french inspired prints — like a Parisian bistro.(Photos) The menu is equally French, with a few surprises. You’ll find things like Escargot, Onion soup, Warm Brie with Figs; but also things like Bratwurst and Knackwurst sausages, Baked Macaroni and Lobster Cakes. So, Chef Frederic Feufeuis is both playful and has some range incorporating some local dishes as well. See menu link: www.bleurestaurant.com/ The two of us ordered, the Gratinee(gruyère) a l’Onion for $ 6.00, the Roasted Beet and Goats Cheese Salad for $ 8.00, the Croque Monsieur for $ 10.00. We also ordered separately the Ice Tea and Lemonade for $ 2.00 each. See photos. The food was delicious and very well priced too. Our bill including taxes, but before gratuities came to a meager $ 29.75. The service was equally good and very attentive. The atmosphere at Bleu that afternoon was fun, particularly when three Grand Dames arrived and started ordering the Lobster Cakes and a couples of dozen Oysters off the dinner menu. They were a hoot. Enjoy!
